At sixteen, Shen Qingyue lived with her brother-in-law, Wang Mengde, on Rosy Cloud Island. After he was injured, she borrowed a Soul-Returning Healing Pill and put their family spirit skiff up as collateral, leaving them with a five-spirit-stone debt. She scavenged the shore with Wang Mengde and treated preserving the skiff as their shared goal. 1 2 4

When her elder sister Shen Qingxue returned after years away, Qingyue defended Wang Mengde against her criticism.
