Background / History

Tang San establishes the Tang Sect and views its continued inheritance as worth continental bloodshed. When the Heavenly Screen reveals the future sect's conduct, the four great clans fear that he will repeat the Clear Sky Sect's abandonment of them; the Speed, Defense, and Breaking Clans leave him, while the Strength Clan's Tai Tan remains behind. Tang San privately concludes that the departing clan heads know too many Tang Sect secrets to be allowed to live. 4 8

He acquires Divine Slaughter's Domain through Slaughter City. Seeking to destroy the city, he throws the Snow-Colored Swan Kiss into its Bloody Mary reservoir, amplifying its accumulated toxins and poisoning the entire city. Tang Chen, then the King of Slaughter, is poisoned as a result; Tang San later realizes that he has inadvertently killed his own great-grandfather. 33 80 81

After learning that he is destined to become the Sea God, Tang San heads for Sea God Island with Dai Mubai, Zhu Zhuqing, Ma Hongjun, and Bai Chenxiang. Sea Soul Masters reject the prospect of a Land Soul Master becoming Sea God, attack his party in Vast Sea City, seal the ports, and destroy the harbor's ships rather than let him sail. 44 45 50

Tang San eventually reaches Sea God Island, but Bo Saixi and the Seven Sacred Pillars seek vengeance for Tang Chen. Poseidon repeatedly restores Tang San so that the trials can continue despite the punishment inflicted on him. 117 119

Recorded Future History

Tang San completes the Sea God's path and later returns from Sea God Island with at least seven trials completed. During the conflict at Jialing Pass, he battles Rakshasa God Bibi Dong and Angel God Qian Renxue, dies from their combined assault, and is revived through Oscar and Ning Rongrong's divine inheritances. Personality

Tang San is intensely proud of the Tang Sect and treats its legacy as more important than the lives lost in sustaining it. He insists that he is “pure and spotless” when accused of being an Evil Soul Master, even as revelations about Slaughter City, Tang Chen, and the Tang Sect turn public and clan opinion against him. 4 61 80

He is deeply conservative regarding Tang Sect traditions. Tang San rejects the future sect's transition from hidden weapons to soul tools, arguing that descendants who abandoned hidden weapons should have eliminated soul-tool development instead. 75 76
