Background and History
Origin and early reincarnations
Liu Zhipeng begins as a twenty-first-century office worker and Warhammer fan. After recognizing the Emperor and blurting out the nickname “huge yellow rat,” he loses consciousness and enters the cycle of reincarnation. 1
His early lives establish his instinct to build communities rather than merely survive. As a Nurgling, he shares food with weaker Nurglings instead of hoarding it. As Brother Peng on Viridia Prime, he turns miners' passive faith into a doctrine of active “nurturing,” outmaneuvering High Priest Vaughn and eventually replacing him as High Priest. 3 9 13
In his third life, he is born as Alexander, son of Baron von Lawrence. At Loyalty Academy, he gives his peers a sense of family and teaches them to use pain and hatred as resolve in service to the Imperium. 17 18
Ork ascendancy
Reborn as an Ork Boy with a human mind, Liu treats Ork violence as an economic system: fighting earns experience and teef, teef buy equipment, and better equipment enables stronger victories. This approach earns him the name Tooth Puller. 47 51
He builds the Big Tooth Gang through calculated, casualty-free takeovers, then defeats Gorglum to become Warboss. Bonecrusher recognizes his strategic value, entrusting him with an expedition and ordering him to become the ship's second-strongest fighter before reaching Octarius. 50 51 53
As Warboss, he faces opponents including Abaddon, Khârn, and Lucius without retreating, using their disunity and his own aggression to turn a three-way melee in his favor. 80
Necron infiltration and the Horus Heresy
After entering a Necron Overlord body, Liu adapts quickly to living metal, body theft, and Dynasty command systems. He impersonates Tech-Priest Castor Alpha, infiltrates the Iron Hands flagship Fist of Iron, and uses his knowledge of history to navigate the coming betrayal at Isstvan V. 83 85 86 88
During the massacre, he kills Erebus and spurs Loyalist prisoners to reclaim their weapons and escape. The survivors later preserve his legend as the Red Sage, Soul of Steel, or Trench Butcher. 95
In the Maynarkh Dynasty, he adopts the identity Overlord Lio. Unlike the Flayer-Curse victims around him, he remains sane; he uses phase shifting, false signals, and his remaining authority to evade capture and reach the Dolmen Gate. 110 113 114 117
He later awakens as H-02, a defective Horus clone discarded by Fabius Bile. Rather than reject the body, he decides to use it as an opportunity to correct Horus's legacy. 127
Aeldari, Gretchin, and divine ascent
On Biel-Tan, Liu is selected as the Young King meant to awaken the Avatar of Khaine. His soul withstands Khaine's will, allowing him to seize rather than become fuel for the war god's power. 194
He fights Tyranids, Chaos forces, and Abaddon while wielding golden flame and the greatsword End of Lament. His power becomes a source of hope to Aeldari and Imperial forces alike. 197 201 202 216
Reborn among the Gretchin, he destroys his Ork oppressors, appoints Gazi as his first Tech Boss and Fang as a key subordinate, and founds the Embers Company. His victory over Guluk begins a Gretchin uprising that grows into a society and military force of its own. 242 243 248
When the Ork god-king's incarnation Salaka attacks the City of Hope, Liu's apparent death causes the souls of his Gretchin followers to fuse into his soul-world. Their faith creates a divine kingdom beyond the control of Gork and Mork. 290 296
C'tan power, the reset, and the new era
As a C'tan shard, Liu gathers and consumes other shards from Trazyn's Solemnace collection, then absorbs the Void Dragon fragment beneath Mars. These acts feed his Primordial Fetal Movement and broaden his reality-warping power. 404 405 408 409
He later uses the Abyss Darknet—an interlinked network of flesh-and-Blackstone obelisks—to divert Warp energy from the Chaos Gods into his own growth. 455
With the Emperor's aid, Liu withstands the Four Chaos Gods' combined attack and is reborn as the Lord of Miracles and Destruction. The Emperor reveals that Liu was created as an independent being embodying the Emperor's humanity and asks him to restart history before the Horus Heresy. 466 467
Liu accepts the burden despite knowing the existing timeline and everyone within it will be erased. He creates a golden spear that halts time, activates the Restart protocol, and returns to his original life with his powers intact. 468 469
In the new era, he leads humanity's deep-space colonization efforts, establishes safeguards against AI self-awareness, and preserves technology for humanity's recovery after the coming Iron Men Rebellion. 471 472
Personality
Liu Zhipeng combines a modern office worker's sarcasm with an exceptional ability to read power structures. He is willing to lie, infiltrate, exploit bureaucracy, and use underhanded tactics when direct force would be inefficient. His Ork economic doctrine, cult reforms, and Necron false-signal escape all reflect this practical mindset. 13 51 88 114
Despite his cynical language, he repeatedly organizes the powerless into communities: sharing food with Nurglings, giving miners purpose, building a family at Loyalty Academy, liberating Gretchin, and protecting Imperial soldiers. 3 9 18 248 428
He is fearless to the point of provocation when facing supposedly untouchable enemies. He taunts Khaine, confronts Chaos champions head-on, and treats cosmic entities as problems to be solved or resources to be acquired. 80 194 404 479
His greatest burden is his long-term responsibility toward humanity. He is capable of allowing short-term suffering to preserve humanity's future, but does not treat such decisions lightly. 468 472 475
