Quasi-Kage 2 Lacking innate chakra talent, Hiruko reached quasi-Kage strength through technology and the Alchemist Singed template; he can briefly unleash Kage-level power. 2
Wood Release 19 Demonstrated a Wood Release vine in his laboratory, though he considers its combat value insufficient against opponents of his level. 19

Background / History

Hiruko is a transmigrator who consumed the consciousness of his alternate-world self after arriving in the ninja world. He was raised as a commoner in Konoha, where his family survived through farming and had little access to ninjutsu. The murder of his parents by Hidden Cloud shinobi left him determined never to be powerless again. 5 18

Despite limited natural talent for chakra, Hiruko became a ninja and pursued power through research. During the Second Shinobi World War, he supported Tsunade in establishing Konoha’s medical-ninja system and developed medical tools that improved shinobi survival rates. 16

He later withdrew from direct battlefield service to focus on scientific work. His prosthetic and cybernetic-body technologies restored mobility and livelihoods to disabled shinobi, while his research contributions increased Konoha’s war potential by roughly thirty percent during the Third Shinobi World War. 2 7

By the time Minato Namikaze became Hokage, Hiruko had become head of the Konoha Research Department. His political influence comes from his technology, wealth, favors owed by disabled veterans, and the strategic value of his enhancement serums. 16 37 47

Appearance

Hiruko presents himself as a gentle, handsome man with an approachable smile, a public image that contrasts sharply with the cold and sinister chakra he sometimes fails to conceal. 1 12 15

  • Soft white hair and pale skin. 15
  • A small diamond-shaped mark on his forehead. 15
  • Lean, muscular build maintained through intense daily running and training. 43
  • Usually projects a warm, comforting demeanor despite his unsettling chakra presence. 1 15

Personality

Hiruko is methodical, ambitious, and intensely pragmatic. He views research as the path to power, longevity, and ultimately a means to reshape the ninja world. His foremost goal is true immortality; he intends to perfect the Chimera Technique, attain Six Paths-level strength, and eventually explore other worlds. 14 15 39

His public conduct is markedly different from his private behavior. Konoha largely sees him as a dependable medical-nin and a compassionate senior who helps the injured, while he privately conducts lethal experiments, keeps captives, and uses others as research material or political leverage. 1 12 31

Hiruko retains genuine sympathy for ordinary civilians harmed by war and exploitation. He hopes to end large-scale conflict, improve civilian life through technology, and give children such as Itachi a reason to value life and hope. 15 22 23

His identity is unstable due to the remaining soul of the original Hiruko. He describes his consciousness through the concepts of ego, id, and superego, and uses his collection of female ninja as both an outlet for accumulated darkness and an anchor for his identity as a transmigrator. 17 18

Abilities & Skills

Alchemist Singed Template and Poison Techniques

Hiruko’s primary power source is an Alchemist Singed template at 47% fusion. It allows him to compensate for his poor chakra aptitude through chemical weapons, body modification, and technological enhancement. 2

  • Mixes shinobi-world poisons with toxins such as cyanides, dioxins, sarin gas, and VX nerve agent. 2
  • Can release a near-unsolvable lethal poison outbreak through the template’s Q-like ability. 2
  • Earned the title King of Ten Thousand Poisons after killing numerous people with his toxins. 2
  • Must extract residual toxins after use or leave behind a poisoned dead zone. 2

Medical Ninjutsu and Prosthetics

Hiruko is one of Konoha’s foremost medical experts, specializing in prosthetic limbs, cybernetic bodies, and medical tools for injured shinobi. 2 19

  • Developed prosthetic limbs that let war amputees move, work, and support their families again. 2
  • Created advanced prosthetics capable of granting Kage-level strength for a short period. 13
  • Helped establish Konoha’s mature medical-ninja system alongside Tsunade. 16
  • Developed restorative medicine that rapidly restores stamina and chakra, heals injuries, and can approach the effects of Creation Rebirth while active. 35

Life Series Enhancement Serums

Hiruko developed the Life One, Life Two, and Life Three projects from weakened Hashirama Cells and body-modification research. 2

  • Life One — temporarily raises a genin’s strength to chūnin level, at the cost of roughly ten years of lifespan. 2
  • Hashirama Cell-based Wood Release potion — can allow jōnin-level users to awaken Wood Release, though weaker users face a high risk of death. 20
  • The best Wood Release results are expected from individuals with exceptional vitality and spiritual power, especially those of the Senju, Uzumaki, Uchiha, and Hyūga clans. 20
  • Life No. 3 Wood Release Enhancement Potion is politically valuable because it can awaken a rare bloodline limit in young jōnin. 41 42

Wood Release and Plant Manipulation

Hiruko has manifested Wood Release and conducts extensive research into chakra-enhanced plant life. 19 49

  • Can produce Wood Release vines directly from the ground. 19
  • Cultivated combat plants capable of rapidly expanding and draining enemy chakra on a battlefield. 49
  • Created vine-like plants intended to improve Uchiha ocular power. 50
  • His combat plants are vulnerable to fire and remain too fragile for reliable large-scale deployment. 49

Sage Curse Mark Modification

Hiruko altered Sage Mode into a curse-mark technique intended to make senjutsu more accessible. 37

  • Greatly increases the user’s power after activation. 37
  • Requires substantial stamina and carries the risks inherent to Hiruko’s body-modification methods. 37
  • Used to modify Rin Nohara’s body for senjutsu chakra adaptation, alongside sealing and taijutsu training. 48 49

Chimera Technique and Pseudo-Immortality

Hiruko’s ultimate project is the Chimera Technique, a fusion of genetic modification, devouring principles, sealing, and ritual elements. He seeks to use it to become an immortal “ultimate life-form.” 20 21

  • Requires five sacrifices: four may be absorbed before the ritual, while the fifth must be used during the Golden Ring Eclipse at Mount Sumeru. 20 21
  • Uses cloned embryos fused with collected special ninja cells as artificial sacrifices rather than directly consuming living conscious victims. 21
  • Implants fragments of his soul into viable artificial humans, allowing him to control and later absorb them. 21
  • Maintains secret laboratories throughout the ninja world containing thousands of backup vessels. 21
  • Can use a modified Soul Transformation Technique and a soul fragment to resurrect in a new prepared body if his current one dies, making him nearly pseudo-immortal. 21
  • The Chimera Technique remains incomplete; Hiruko has not solved its mystical limitations or achieved true immortality. 21 39

Biological Mutation Research

Hiruko studies Hashirama Cells, immortal jellyfish traits, chakra, and natural energy to alter living organisms. 13 49

  • Formed a summoning contract with an Immortal Jellyfish, using its reverse-growth traits as evidence that biological rejuvenation may be possible. 14
  • Successfully achieved lossless genetic division in his rejuvenation research, but has not yet made a decisive breakthrough. 50
  • Produces mutated plants, insects, and beasts through genetic-code damage, chakra alteration, and hybridization experiments. 49 50
  • Preserves many aberrant organisms in sealed culture tanks; most have little or no independent consciousness. 49

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Life One serum — short-term body-enhancement injection with a severe lifespan cost. 2
  • Wood Release enhancement potions — Hashirama Cell-derived medicine intended for jōnin-level recipients. 20
  • Silver flowers — induce an immersive genjutsu dream through temporary Kurama Clan ability stimulation; surviving the dream can improve mental strength and chakra. 34
  • Recovery pills and blue medicine — restore stamina and chakra, strengthen the body, and support Uchiha ocular-power experiments. 34 35
  • Prosthetic limbs and cybernetic bodies — medical and combat replacements developed for Konoha personnel. 2 13
  • Sealing chains — used to restrain unstable test subjects such as Tekka Uchiha. 35
  • Domestic robots — all-in-one household machines derived from his prosthetics research. 18
  • Underground laboratories and cultivation tanks — facilities for cloning, mutation research, corpse examination, and artificial-body storage. 21 31 50

Relationships

  • Shimura Danzō — Patron and transactional ally. Danzō provides funding, research materials, test subjects, sealing knowledge, and forbidden techniques; Hiruko exploits his greed and dependence on results. 1 2
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi — Senior political figure who values Hiruko’s contributions but repeatedly clashes with him over funding, oversight, and ethical concerns. 2 40 41
  • Minato Namikaze — Trusted collaborator in Konoha’s reform and technology projects. Minato supports Hiruko politically and seeks his advice on the Uchiha Clan and Wood Release. 19 22
  • Orochimaru — Research partner and fellow seeker of immortality. They exchange data and respect each other’s skill, though Orochimaru’s attempt to recruit Hiruko away from Konoha fails. 3 6 7
  • Tsunade — Former classmate, medical collaborator, and long-standing romantic interest. Hiruko supported her medical-ninja work and later offered her enhanced Sage Mode; their relationship becomes increasingly intimate. 16 37 44
  • Pakura — Captive Scorch Release kunoichi held in Hiruko’s home. Hiruko attempts to break her resistance, while Pakura remains defiant and hostile. 7 35 36
  • Rin Nohara — Girl Hiruko saved after she was nearly killed on the battlefield. She becomes dependent on him for protection and trains under his guidance in senjutsu and taijutsu. 7 37 49

  • Yakushi Nonō — Maid sent by Danzō who seeks Kabuto’s safety. Hiruko promises to take on her burdens while intending to use her influence over the orphans for his wider plans. 22 25
  • Uchiha Fugaku — Political associate and client for Hiruko’s Uchiha enhancement research; Fugaku seeks Hiruko’s support for the Uchiha Clan. 13 34 50

Story Role / Major Arcs

Human Enhancement Research

Hiruko begins by experimenting on civilians with weakened Hashirama Cells, attempting to create stronger ninja. The failures establish both his scientific ambition and disregard for the suffering of test subjects. 1

His development of Life One turns him into a major Konoha asset. The serum’s ability to raise genin to chūnin level makes him valuable to Danzō, Hiruzen, and Konoha’s clans, while also intensifying scrutiny of his methods. 2 40

Research Department and Konoha Reform

As head of the Research Department, Hiruko promotes prosthetics, transportation infrastructure, factories, robotics, military technology, and economic reforms. He works with Minato toward a more prosperous and technologically advanced Konoha. 21 22 47

His long-term plan goes beyond Konoha: he intends to spread Konoha’s culture, attract talent, economically absorb rival nations, and eventually unify the shinobi world. 48

Wood Release and Uchiha Experiments

Hiruko’s work on Hashirama Cells produces Wood Release and enhancement medicines. He provides the Uchiha Clan with silver flowers, restorative drugs, and ocular-power treatment, attracting both Fugaku’s interest and Danzō’s suspicion. 19 34 42 50

Pursuit of Immortality

Hiruko’s central personal arc is his search for eternal life. He investigates biological rejuvenation, immortal jellyfish traits, soul transfer, artificial bodies, bloodline limits, the Ōtsutsuki Clan, the God Tree, sealing techniques, and sage techniques. 13 14 21

His final objective is to complete the Chimera Technique during the Golden Ring Eclipse and become an immortal being capable of traveling beyond the Naruto world. 14 20 39
