Background / History

Tsunade was raised under the guidance of Hiruzen Sarutobi, who later became deeply concerned by her declining mental state. As a young ninja, she initially viewed Hiruko favorably, but distanced herself after learning that he wanted a harem. Hiruko and Jiraiya had both pursued her. 3 38

During the Second Shinobi World War, Tsunade established Konoha's medical-ninja system with Hiruko's support. His medical tools and techniques improved Konoha shinobi survival rates, while Tsunade's proposal eventually led to the creation of the Medical Department. 9 16

The deaths of her younger brother Nawaki and other familiar members of her clan left Tsunade severely traumatized.
