Leaving the War Affairs Department, Lynn stood in the corridor and lowered his head to look at the Soul-Crystal Plaque at his waist.
The light had already gone out, but the message remained in his mind like a thorn, making him deeply uncomfortable.

He had originally planned to invade a few more minor worlds and accumulate more rules. At the very least, he had wanted to wait until he advanced to Stigma before taking on such a difficult mission.
He had not expected the academy to assign it to him so quickly.
Still, it was fortunate that he was not part of the main force attacking the Holy Light Plane, so he was not bound by any mandatory deployment period.
For high-risk missions like this, the minimum term was usually two years. After that, he could find an excuse to return and exchange shifts.
It was not as if they were sending him to fight the Seraphim Archangel. Even True Spirit Wizards might not be able to defeat an existence of that level. If a mere three-ring wizard like him went, he would only be throwing his life away.
His task was probably just to clear out low-level Holy Light creatures and cooperate with the main force's advance.
He would coast through two years, then apply to return to the academy and advance to Stigma. No one could say anything about it.
