Darren spoke worriedly.
But Dumbledore's expression turned stern.
"Go, hurry up. Have you forgotten what you promised me?"
he said angrily.
Darren's face turned pale.
At last, he compromised. He nodded hesitantly.
Supporting each other, he and Harry headed for the door.
But just as they were about to open it, the door moved.
Dumbledore suddenly flicked his wand.
Darren and Harry were shoved into the corner, unable to move.
At the same time—
"Expelliarmus!"
someone shouted.
It was Malfoy's voice.
Dumbledore's wand was flung high into the air.
Harry noticed that Darren seemed to be struggling constantly.
But they both knew that Dumbledore's spell could not be broken through mere struggling.
Of course, if Darren had not been poisoned, had not cast the Fiendfyre Curse for so long, and had not Apparated with two people, perhaps he would have been able to break free.
But now, Darren could only struggle futilely.
Malfoy entered.
He looked around.
Then he spotted two brooms.
Looking at Dumbledore, he said, "Two brooms. You went out? Who did you go out with?"
Dumbledore's footing slipped.
He looked exceedingly weak.
Darren struggled even harder.
Harry knew Darren had to be terribly anxious.
In fact, he was anxious too.
But he could not understand why Dumbledore had insisted on immobilizing them.
If they had both been standing there perfectly fine, how could Dumbledore have been captured by Malfoy?
And to his surprise, Dumbledore did not seem afraid of Malfoy at all.
He even asked casually, "Good evening, Draco!"
"Hmph! You're about to die, and you're still this relaxed?"
Malfoy sneered.
But Dumbledore was not afraid in the slightest.
He even asked in return, "Are you alone?"
"How could I be? I have many Death Eater companions. They've entered your school!"
