But they had to accept it, didn't they?
Harry and the others only had time to grieve for a moment before hurriedly following Darren into Griphook's room.
The goblin was warming himself by the fire. When he saw Darren, a hostile expression appeared on his face.
"I can agree to your idea, but you must agree to my demands as well. Otherwise, we go our separate ways!"
Darren nodded.
"Go ahead."
"I want your sword! That will be my compensation!"
Harry and the others immediately blurted out, "No! That's very important!"
"Can't you choose something else?"
Darren fell silent.
He did not say a word.
"Let us think about it."
He finally said in a low voice.
Griphook snorted and told them to do as they pleased.
Darren was about to leave, but Hermione quietly tugged him.
She did not let Harry and the others leave.
Hermione said very seriously, "We can give you the sword, but we must make a contract. You have to guarantee Darren's safety.
If you dare to pull any tricks, even if we throw the sword to the Dark Lord, we still won't give it to you!"
"Deal!"
He Deserved It!! ### Hermione's words stunned Harry and the others.
They did not mind trading Gryffindor's sword for Darren's safety.
But obviously, Darren would not agree to this.
Yet, to their surprise, Darren did not object.
Or rather, he held back from asking Hermione why she had agreed to it.
He kept his doubts to himself until the three of them were alone, then he finally asked about it.
Hermione looked a little uneasy.
But she still explained.
"It's like this. I think the Sword of Gryffindor can be pulled from the Sorting Hat..."
"That's true, but what we're asking is why you agreed to it?"
