"We heard you rode a dragon out of Gringotts. What exactly did you do?
Before, everyone said you were fugitives out there, but Darren kept explaining to everyone that you had a mission to complete.
A mission Dumbledore left behind. How much of it have you completed now?"
Harry said somewhat guiltily, "There's still some left. What about you? Life at school..."
The smile vanished from Neville's face.
He sighed softly. "The school now can't really be called a school anymore. You know the Carrow siblings, right? Darren must have told you about them—the two Death Eaters..."
Harry and the others shook their heads blankly. Darren rarely talked about school. Neville sighed again.
He had clearly expected this.
So he explained, "They're Death Eaters teaching here, and they're also in charge of discipline. What those two enjoy most is punishing students."
"Like Umbridge?"
Harry asked curiously.
After all, in his eyes, Umbridge was the most detestable person imaginable.
"Not even close. If they were only as bad as Umbridge, people wouldn't hate them so much.
Compared to them, Umbridge could be considered kind. They like dealing with every student given detention.
During Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, Caro uses the Cruciatus Curse on students who've been given detention.
I refused to do it, and Darren can't even cast the Cruciatus Curse, so the two of them tortured Darren and me, seemingly trying to force Darren to cast it..."
Neville said angrily.
Ron and the others all looked at Darren.
Pain showed in their eyes.
"Darren, why didn't you tell us?"
Darren shook his head.
He looked a little embarrassed. "It's nothing. I'm used to it, really. I don't think the Cruciatus Curse hurts that much."
