Burning—burning everything supernatural. The more he burned, the stronger he became.
For Mage Apprentices practicing the Dark Forge Meditation, the bottleneck of becoming an Official Mage that had blocked countless Apprentices for their entire lives could be easily broken through as long as what they burned was powerful enough.
However, everything came at a price. Once an Apprentice broke through to become an Official Mage, they would be branded with Yang Mu's mark, which would merge with their soul and turn them into a Dark Furnace Mage.
They would never surpass Yang Mu in their lifetime, and their life and death would be controlled by him. With every burning, roughly twenty percent of the power gained would be offered to Yang Mu.
Yang Mu would also become the new progenitor of Mages. A new Mage profession, the Dark Furnace Mage, would be born in the Mage World, and he himself would advance to become a Seventh-Level Wizard.
He would become one of the most powerful existences in the Endless Planes.
Unfortunately, before everything was complete, he had already fallen. He had fallen before even using his many methods of resurrection.
But it did not matter. Though he had lost everything now, his knowledge remained. Power was merely a byproduct of knowledge; he only needed to accumulate it again from the beginning.
The Dark Forge Meditation was still incomplete. Aside from himself, the first few test subjects had burned themselves to death, so it could not yet be spread.
Moreover, the Meditation Method had only been deduced to the level of a Third-Level Wizard. But none of that was a problem. Given some time and a few test subjects, those issues would be easy to resolve.
And now that his Mental Power was three times that of an ordinary person, casting spells no longer required a long period of recovery after every use.
"Zombie Reanimation!"
His Mental Power connected with elemental power. A black spell model flashed and vanished. The two Black slaves who had been lying on the ground immediately climbed to their feet once the spell took effect and moved behind Yang Mu.
Yang Mu now had two more pieces of cannon fodder.
Just after Yang Mu awakened the two Walking Corpses, two dazed souls drifted into his hands. They belonged to the two Asian female slaves from the daytime. The power Yang Mu had left inside them would cause them to die in their sleep tonight and draw their souls to him.
Black flames ignited once more. Yang Mu's soul grew stronger again, and his Mental Power rose with it.
That was the terror of a Dark Furnace Mage. So long as he burned, he could keep growing stronger. The original Furnace Lord could only burn evil creatures because of Divine Law, but that scope was clearly far too narrow for Yang Mu.
Even subjectively deeming everyone evil was not enough, because supernatural items also existed. Therefore, Yang Mu had used his Divinity to expand it into the current Dark Forge Meditation, which could burn almost anything.
This was not the end. Yang Mu began using the thunderstorm to slaughter slaves, burning their souls and turning their corpses into Walking Corpses.
The thunder concealed the screams, and the rainy night washed away the scent of blood. Yet as his slaughter continued, even with the rain concealing it, the bloody smell in the thick fog reached the noses of the Werewolves holding a banquet.
Under Viscount William's displeased gaze, Butler Allen put on a raincoat with an angry expression and headed into the rainy night.
Outside the manor, figures with crimson eyes, sharp fangs, and silver-plated longswords were approaching.
After burning the last slave's soul, Yang Mu's Mental Power reached 2.3 units. An ordinary person's Mental Power was only around 0.1, but every additional 1 unit represented a new level.
Thus, even after Yang Mu killed all several dozen slaves in the manor, his Mental Power had only reached 2.3 rather than 6.7.
Moreover, the stronger his Mental Power became, the harder it was to increase. If Yang Mu did not want to carry out large-scale slaughter, he could only burn stronger things, preferably supernatural items or supernatural creatures.
And he happened to spot the furious Werewolf butler.
"What are you doing?"
In the darkness, Allen could not make out Yang Mu's face. But he could see a group of people standing beside a group of fallen bodies, with blood mixed with rainwater flowing across the ground like a river.
There was no need to wonder what had happened. This was a desecration of his work. This was a slap in his face.
A slave revolt—there had actually been a slave revolt under his jurisdiction. Enraged, he threw off his raincoat, and his body grew larger as he walked, becoming hunched.
Rainwater slid over his thick fur and dripped from his sharp claws and fangs. A Werewolf over two meters tall, dressed in a butler's uniform stretched to tearing, charged at Yang Mu.
"Flesh Wither!"
Facing the roaring Werewolf butler charging at him, Yang Mu merely extended a finger and tapped at the Void beside him. A blood-red spell model flashed and vanished. The once-ferocious Werewolf butler's body suddenly withered, as though some invisible force had devoured a great amount of his flesh in an instant.
The Walking Corpses behind Yang Mu immediately rushed forward, pounced on the Werewolf butler, and began tearing into him.
These Walking Corpses no longer had the instinct to protect their bodies, so their strength was exceptionally great. Affected by the Flesh Wither spell, the Werewolf butler was utterly unable to resist the dozen or so Walking Corpses that pounced on him. He could only scream as they tore at him.
The pained wolf howl reached the castle. The Werewolves who had been feasting inside changed expression when they heard it, setting down their wine cups and transforming one after another into towering Werewolves, ready for battle.
Just then, the castle windows shattered, and the main doors were kicked open. Pale figures clad in armor appeared.
"Solondo, you are courting death!"
Seeing the approaching Vampires, Viscount William, now transformed into a Werewolf, let out an enraged roar.
"What a stench. Kill them!"
The Vampire called Solondo merely spoke calmly before raising his silver sword and charging at Viscount William.
Vampires and Werewolves—these two races had been entangled since their emergence, always slaughtering one another.
"Vampires?"
Yang Mu looked at the figures emerging from the darkness. Their pale faces, crimson eyes, and sharp canine teeth all matched the typical characteristics of Vampires.
"Black Wizard, leave this place. This has nothing to do with you."
Seeing the twenty or so Walking Corpses around Yang Mu and the two Skeleton Warriors clad in Bone Armor, the Vampire merely issued a warning and did not attack.
Anyone capable of commanding so many Walking Corpses had to be a powerful Black Wizard. He was no match for him.
"So you are attacking the William Family?"
When the other side did not answer, Yang Mu took it as tacit agreement. Besides, he could hear wolf howls and the sounds of battle in the distance.
"Ghoul Transformation!"
"Claw Enhancement!"
"Bone Enhancement!"
"Flesh Enhancement!"
Yang Mu cast four spells in succession, all on Allen's corpse. Several nearby corpses merged into Allen's body under the effects of the spells.
His corpse became even larger. The next moment, a Werewolf Ghoul over two and a half meters tall stood up.
