A new day began. Muya first dove into her suitcase to feed Qiqi the cat food before heading to the Great Hall.
As soon as she sat down and saw the breakfast on the table, Muya was startled, "⊙∀⊙!" It was a plate of steamed buns, not dry bread for once.
"Wow, have the house-elves finally learned to make other breakfasts?" Sean sat down with a happy expression.
"Judging by the look of it, this isn't British food," Vester picked one up and examined it.
Students from other houses were still figuring out how to eat this novel breakfast, but the Hufflepuff students had already started eating and let out sounds of admiration.
"Delicious!"
"Merlin's beard, this is so much better than dry bread!"
"Hey, hey, little wizards, don't eat too fast, be careful not to choke."
The second house to try the steamed buns was Gryffindor. After taking a bite, the Weasley twins happily waved at Muya.
The Ravenclaw and Slytherin students were more reserved. Some of them let out sighs of admiration, while others' eyes sparkled.
Muya shook her head. British recipes were truly terrifying, sob sob sob, wait, how did these Chinese dishes manage to culturally infiltrate here?
Suddenly, a semi-transparent phoenix appeared before Muya. "Wow, what is this?"
"It seems Headmaster Dumbledore is looking for you, Mya Mu," Cedric said to Muya, wiping his mouth.
"Mya Mu, come to my office. The password is honey-flavored potato chips." Just as Cedric finished speaking, Dumbledore's voice appeared.
"It looks like I have to leave now." Muya reluctantly said goodbye to the long-unseen steamed buns, and then to everyone else.
"Child, Severus has already told me that your English is quite... well... not very proficient in English," Dumbledore said, troubled, pinching his slightly crooked nose.
Muya: Danger!
"So... what do you want to do to me?" Muya swallowed hard. Could it be that he was going to use magic to instantly turn her into an English master? Hmm... that actually sounded pretty good.
"Oh yes, child, I just need you to spare a little bit of time each day to come to the Headmaster's office. Here, I will teach you English until you can attend classes normally."
Dumbledore popped a piece of honey-flavored potato chip into his mouth. Seeing Muya still looking at him innocently, he asked, "Would you like some? I had the school's house-elves make these. Although they don't taste as good as the ones from that day, they're still pretty good."
"...No, you eat it." Muya was feeling a bit down now. She had been living a life with a few classes a day and the rest of the time for playing, and now she was suddenly notified of mandatory remedial classes. Oh no!
"By the way, how were last night's dinner and this morning's breakfast? Did they suit your taste a bit?" Dumbledore winked at Muya. At this point, even if Muya was slow to react, she knew who the mastermind behind these two meals was.
"Breakfast was okay, but please don't make meals like yesterday's again." Hiss... Should she beat up her cheap guardian? Maybe along with last time.
A chill ran down Dumbledore's back. "Alas, I thought you liked sweets too."
Thanks, but I'll pass on that level of sweetness from yesterday.
"The amount of sugar from last night already made my teeth tremble. Fortunately, Professor Snape's potion helped, but the taste... was awful." Muya thought of the table full of sweets last night and the potion she excitedly drank before bed, and her tongue felt uncomfortable.
"Oh..., alright. Severus's potions have always been like that." They chatted for a few more sentences, and it ended with Muya about to attend Transfiguration class.
Muya discovered that the Levitation Charm could make her float up and down the stairs. It was so cool and effortless, really great.
Can't find the book title, maybe try searching for the author, perhaps the name has changed!
As Muya floated down, she ran into Hannah and the others. "Oh Mya Mu, we were afraid you'd be late for class, so we grabbed your books for you too."
"Oh! Thank you, I love you guys!" Muya took the books and blew three kisses at the three of them.
"Ahem, no fooling around, let's get to the classroom quickly," Shalian pushed Muya into the classroom.
"Hehe."
Upon entering the classroom, they didn't see the professor, but instead saw a cat standing on the platform.
"Is that someone's pet?" Muya whispered.
"No," Hannah shook her head. Susan said, "That's Professor McGonagall."
"Professor McGonagall is a registered Animagus," Shalian explained.
Muya nodded, understanding but not fully. What was an Animagus? She didn't ask Shalian further because it was time for class.
The cat that had been standing on the platform transformed, and a lady wearing a green hat and cloak appeared before the group of young wizards. They applauded enthusiastically.
Muya knew it was just going through the motions. She understood, she understood, these social courtesies were necessary.
"Alright students, today we will learn to turn a matchstick into a needle. One per person, please hold them carefully." Professor McGonagall said, distributing matchsticks.
"This Transfiguration is very simple. You just need to visualize the characteristics of a needle in your mind, and then gently tap the matchstick with your wand, like this." Professor McGonagall conjured a shiny embroidery needle.
Oh, this was much simpler than Charms class and Potions class, Muya breathed a sigh of relief. She wondered if she could use Transfiguration to turn herself into a cat like Professor McGonagall, then maybe she wouldn't have to attend class.
Thinking this, she gently tapped the matchstick in her hand with her wand. "Meow~" A small cat, resembling Professor McGonagall's Animagus form, appeared on the desk.
Muya: Oh no, it's over.
"Hmm... it seems Miss Mu is very fond of my cat form, but you don't need to learn this kind of Transfiguration yet."
"However, for your outstanding Transfiguration, Hufflepuff gets one point." Professor McGonagall's expression was serious for a second, then broke into a smile.
Muya quickly thought of a needle in her mind and gently tapped the kitten. With a crisp sound, a needle fell onto the desk.
"Hufflepuff gets another two points." Muya noticed Professor McGonagall's smile becoming even more pronounced.
Am I a Transfiguration master? Muya thought, picking up the needle.
Professor McGonagall thought, this child is so talented in Transfiguration, I must inform Dumbledore so he can let me properly train Muya.
Up until now, Dumbledore had not told the other Heads of House that he had privately appointed himself Muya's guardian.
After Transfiguration class, Muya returned to the common room. She saw Hermione at the entrance. "Hi Hermione, were you waiting for me? How long have you been waiting?" Muya let Hannah and the other two go in first.
"Oh, I've been waiting for about a minute. I calculated your class end time and the approximate time to get to the common room," Hermione said, lifting her head with a bit of pride.
Scary math genius, Muya wiped away a bead of nonexistent sweat.
"I wanted to invite you to visit Hagrid with me. Actually, Harry invited me too, so do you want to come with us?" Hermione tugged on Muya's hand and blinked her eyes.
Who could refuse that? Muya certainly couldn't.
"Okay, let me go put my books away first."
