That evening, the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor students had an Astronomy class together, observing galaxies and the like. Muya liked it quite a bit too.
"Oh, Минерва, what brings you to see me today?" Dumbledore had already put on his nightcap and pajamas and was about to sleep when McGonagall gave the password and entered.
"Headmaster, I think Mya Mu might be a Transfiguration prodigy!" McGonagall was too excited to wait until tomorrow to speak with Dumbledore. She could not wait to become Muya's guardian.
"I can be her guardian and train her into a perfect Transfiguration master."
Dumbledore's expression immediately fell, and he coughed guiltily. "Ahem, Минерва, I think we should ask the child what she wants first, don't you agree?"
"Oh, of course, of course." McGonagall said good night and left.
"Hey, Mya Mu, want to sneak around the castle with us tonight?" Ron and Harry leaned close and whispered to Muya.
Muya thought for a moment, then shook her head at them. "No. That Old Mischief-Maker Dumbledore is starting to tutor me in English tomorrow, so I need to go to the library and prepare a little later." Just thinking about it made her angry!
Ron and Harry were first surprised that Muya had called their headmaster Dumbledore an "Old Mischief-Maker," then were stunned by the second half of what she said.
Ron thought to himself that Muya really was like a Ravenclaw.
"Oh, Mya Mu isn't like you lot at all." It was Hermione. She had just heard what Ron said to Muya, and she turned to her. "Mya Mu, I'll go to the library with you later. I still have a little homework left."
"Mm-hm." Shalian and the others were planning to check out the kitchen Sean had mentioned tonight, so Muya decided to go tomorrow evening instead.
When they arrived at the library, Hermione told Muya that she guessed Dumbledore might use Hogwarts history to tutor her first. She suggested that Muya search the bookshelves while she finished her homework.
Muya made an OK gesture. "Hogwarts history... where is Hogwarts history?" Then she promptly got lost among the countless books.
"This one." The sudden voice startled Muya so badly that she nearly jumped. Turning around, she saw the little snake she had accidentally bumped into after Defense Against the Dark Arts class. She immediately relaxed. She had thought he was some little ghost boy. She had scared herself for nothing.
Muya looked at the book in his hand. That was probably Hogwarts history. "Thank you, little snake." She copied the way Mr. Twins addressed her.
"It's nothing." After Muya took the book, he turned to leave.
Muya had just reached into her bag to give him a lemon Snow Treasure Candy. Seeing that he was about to leave, she called after him. "Little snake, thanks for helping me. Have some candy."
Theodore turned around and froze for a moment, but he still refused Muya. "No need." Even so, he kept staring at the Snow Treasure Candy.
Muya guessed that he wanted it but was too embarrassed to accept, so she spoke again. "It's fine, there are loads in the Headmaster's office." She stuffed the candy into Theodore's hand, waved, and left.
Theodore lowered his head and looked at the Snow Treasure Candy in his hand. A faint, unfamiliar feeling stirred within him, along with some confusion. Why did she say there were plenty in the Headmaster's office when she was the one giving him the candy?
Naturally, he knew her name: Mya Mu.
When Muya returned to her seat, Hermione had already finished her homework. She said worriedly, "Did you find the book? I should have helped you find it before doing my homework."
"Ta-da!" Muya held up the book. "A little snake helped me find it!"
"Phew—wait, do you mean a Slytherin helped you find it?" Hermione had initially relaxed, but after understanding Muya's words, she looked surprised.
"Yep, a little snake named Theodore." Muya nodded and opened to the first page of Hogwarts history.
"I see..." Hermione was still trying to remember who Theodore was. She did not seem to have any impression of him.
If you can't find a book by searching its title, try searching for the author. It might have simply been renamed!
As Muya turned the page, she caught sight of Theodore again from the corner of her eye.
He sat alone in a spot that looked especially quiet, reading. From this angle, he seemed to have merged with the moonlight.
He'll definitely grow into an aloof, cool high school boy, Muya thought.
"Mya Mu! Stop getting distracted!" Muya received Hermione's warning look.
"Okay, Professor Hermione!" Muya lowered her head. That should keep her from getting distracted by pretty people, right?
Not far away, Theodore's lips curled up slightly behind his book.
In the Hufflepuff common room, Shalian and the others had already returned from the kitchen. "Oh, Muya, come try this! The house-elves call it an egg tart."
"Why has the food been so much better lately?" Hannah asked the question that cut straight to the point.
Muya took the egg tart and bit into it. It was indeed sweeter. "Because Dumbledore changed the school menu."
"How did you know that, Mya Mu?" Sean entered the common room with Cedric and Vester, carrying some food as well.
"When I went to the Headmaster's office today, he told me. Come to think of it, does Britain really only have that tiny amount of cuisine?" Muya looked at them curiously.
"Er..." The British students fell silent. Muya understood that silence meant agreement.
"It's a good thing you've never tried Stargazy pie." Vester sat down on the sofa and spoke.
"Oh, Vester, that's obviously Dead Man's Catch pie." Sean's words made everyone laugh.
"By the way, how is Mya Mu's English coming along?" Cedric glanced at the copy of Hogwarts history in Muya's hands.
Muya nodded. "I understand a little. Not all of it. Maybe forty percent."
Muya's words left them baffled, but Cedric still smiled. "If there's anything you don't understand, you can come ask me anytime."
"Okay, okay." Muya quickly agreed.
Tomorrow morning, they had Potions class, and in the afternoon, Transfiguration class with the Ravenclaw students.
Ugh, when can we have a holiday? Although Muya had fewer classes now than before, she also had to learn English and write essays. Snape had told her to make up that essay later.
Oh my, her days were getting more and more fulfilling.
Gryffindor and Slytherin had no classes this morning. So jealous—that was Muya's first thought upon waking up.
She equally hated everyone who did not have to attend class.
Today, Snape handed back the essays they had written. "Look here, Mr. Burke. Your essay looks as though it was hit by a Copying Charm. From beginning to end, there are only a few sentences."
"If your brains are not filled with Trolls, I do not want to see an essay like this again next time." Snape looked as foul-tempered as ever today.
Muya wondered whether Professor Snape ever had a happy moment.
"Miss Muya, do you think that because you do not even know English, you have already mastered Potions and therefore do not need to listen to your professor?" Snape caught the exact moment Muya got distracted, and his words made her focus in an instant.
I only thought about something for a second! What, can the professor read minds or something?
