Huo Yuhao Is Being Targeted?
Nothing more was said that night.
The next morning, the air outside the dormitory building was still damp with the morning mist.
The intense heat from absorbing the Soul Bone last night has long since subsided, replaced by a sense of clarity and well-being from within.
Lin Ye put his hands behind his head and walked down the stairs with a pigeon-toed gait, feeling his whole body stretching comfortably.
As soon as I got downstairs, two beautiful figures came into view.
Ning Tian's signature short hair stood out prominently in the morning light.
Standing beside him Wu Feng, dressed in a sharp outfit and exuding a commanding presence.
These two young ladies have practically become his regular "followers" lately, especially Ning Tian. For some reason, the way she looks at him these past few days always carries a hint of something unspeakable.
Lin Ye smiled helplessly, thinking to himself that life was like this. He clearly wanted to be beautiful on his own, but his charm level was too high, and he couldn't stop it.
As for Wang Dong'er, she hasn't been communicating with her much lately, even though they've been sharing a room. She's probably busy cultivating.
Just as he was thinking this, a clear, slightly reproachful voice suddenly came from behind him.
"Why are you so late getting up? I've been waiting for you for ages."
Lin Ye paused, turned around, and saw none other than Wang Dong'er.
Okay, now he's dressed as a teenager, standing on the steps with his hands behind his back, a half-smile playing on his pinkish-blue eyes.
Lin Ye was genuinely surprised and looked her up and down. "I didn't see you when I got up. Did you not come back last night, or did you get up earlier than me?"
Wang Dong'er gave a light hum, her chin slightly raised, with a hint of pride. "Of course I got up earlier than you."
When I got back to the dorm, you were sleeping sprawled out like a little pig. If I hadn't kindly straightened you out of bed, you would have rolled off long ago."
Upon hearing this, the newly arrived freshmen, who hadn't paid much attention at first, suddenly had strange looks in their eyes when they heard ambiguous words like "get back in the right place" and "get out of there," and when they thought about Lin Ye and Wang Dong'er, two grown men, sharing a room.
He scanned the two of them suspiciously, as if he were witnessing some extraordinary "bromance" scene.
Lin Ye keenly noticed those gazes, a chill running down his spine. He quickly stopped them, saying, "Stop, stop, stop! Wang Dong'er, you can't say things like that!"
He was terrified that if this ancestor kept arguing, tomorrow's Shrek headline would be. "Shocking! Two men doing this kind of thing in a room."
He subconsciously looked at Ning Tian and Wu Feng beside him, hoping to get reinforcements.
However, Ning Tian and Wu Feng, a pair who were usually quite normal, revealed a rare sly smile at this moment.
Ning Tian covered his mouth and chuckled, while Wu Feng crossed his arms, his eyes full of mockery, his expression clearly saying: We'll just watch the show, you'd better pray for yourself.
Lin Ye's heart skipped a beat, assuming that the two girls had misunderstood his relationship with Wang Dong'er.
After all, in their eyes, Wang Dong'er was a genuine "boy," and now he couldn't clear his name no matter what.
"Hey, don't get me wrong,"
Lin Ye quickly pointed at Wang Dong'er, trying to clarify. "What could possibly happen between two grown men like us? We're not a man and a woman, right, Wang Dong?"
As he spoke, he looked pleadingly at Wang Dong'er, who was walking over, and frantically gave her meaningful glances, signaling her to quickly cooperate with the act and distance herself from the situation.
But Wang Dong'er was behaving very strangely today.
Upon hearing Lin Ye's words, she merely smiled enigmatically, offering neither explanation nor echoing his words. She simply stood there with her hands behind her back, watching Lin Ye sweat profusely with amusement, like a cat enjoying a good show.
This awkward silence is more maddening than any explanation.
Lin Ye could only cough twice to forcefully break the awkward atmosphere. "Cough... Let's go, let's go eat, the cafeteria might run out of food if we stay any longer."
The group then began to walk towards the cafeteria.
Ning Tian and Wu Feng walked ahead, their shoulders shrugging slightly, clearly trying to suppress their laughter.
Wang Dong'er followed leisurely beside Lin Ye, her composure making her look like a young master from a wealthy family on an outing.
Upon arriving at the cafeteria, the group had just finished getting their food and sat down when a figure in a pale yellow dress rushed in through the door in a panic. It was none other than Xiao Xiao!
The little girl's hair was a bit messy, and she was panting. As soon as she saw them, she exclaimed, "It's you! You got up so early today?"
She glanced at the empty cafeteria and her face fell. "Oh no! I overslept today. Is there any leftover food left in the cafeteria? Mom said I should eat more for breakfast..."
After she finished speaking, without waiting for a reply, she rushed towards the kitchen window like a startled rabbit. Her flustered figure made the others look at each other in bewilderment, and then they couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Even Wang Dong'er couldn't help but laugh out loud. The smugness she felt from teasing Lin Ye was completely dispelled by Xiao Xiao's natural adorable naiveté.
The meal went relatively smoothly.
After finishing their meal, the group strolled leisurely towards the Teaching Building.
As soon as Lin Ye sat down in his seat in the classroom, the noisy chatter reached his ears.
He originally had no interest in these people's gossip; he couldn't be bothered to listen to who broke through in Soul Power or who lost a sparring match with whom.
Suddenly, a name pierced the noise clearly, making him prick up his ears instantly.
"Huo Yuhao?"
Lin Ye's spirits lifted, and all his nonchalance vanished instantly.
He subtly leaned back in his seat, adjusting to a comfortable position, but his mind was highly focused, locking onto the classmates who were having a heated discussion.
"Hey, did you guys hear? Huo Yuhao got cornered by some upperclassmen after school yesterday."
A slightly hurried voice spoke, tinged with the excitement of watching a good show.
"Huh? Really?"
Someone immediately chimed in, their tone full of surprise. "Why? Huo Yuhao seems pretty honest. Apart from his abnormal Spirit Power, he doesn't seem to have anything particularly outstanding, right?"
Who's got nothing better to do than bully him? Is it some kind of bullying? That won't do; we freshmen aren't pushovers."
"Alright, alright, just shut up. Stop yelling about fighting and killing all the time."
Another, slightly calmer voice rang out, tinged with a hint of helplessness. "Don't talk about bullying freshmen. I have connections. Those two troublemakers were sent by Dai Huabin. It's obvious they're here to get revenge on Huo Yuhao."
"Oh? Dai Huabin."
Upon hearing the name, the surprised tone instantly turned into one of sudden realization, even tinged with disdain. "I've heard of this person before, the second young master of the White Tiger Duke's Estate in the Star Luo Empire."
What's wrong with this guy? I heard he had a duel with Huo Yuhao, but Dai Huabin won, so why is he seeking revenge?
"You do not say."
The first person to speak lowered his voice, but it was still clearly audible in the quiet classroom. "I heard that on the first day Huo Yuhao met Dai Huabin, he wielded the knife so quickly and ruthlessly that he almost slit Dai Huabin's throat."
How could someone as proud and arrogant as Dai Huabin swallow this insult? That's why he's so eager to find someone to get revenge.
