Wang Dong'er grew up as the Young Mistress of the Haotian Sect, where Da Ming and Er Ming protected her closely. Her elders discouraged any discussion of the surname “Tang,” though she felt an instinctive familiarity with it when Lin Ye's diary first referred to “Tang Buddha.” 1 12

After receiving a Diary Copy, she learned claims that her memories and power had been sealed, that her identity as Wang Dong'er was fabricated, and that she was originally Tang Wutong—Tang San's daughter. The diary further reported that Tang San had divided portions of her Divine Sense among Wang Dong'er, Wang Qiuer, and another hidden part in order to orchestrate a trial around Huo Yuhao. 4 245

Rather than accept this supposed fate, Wang Dong'er resolved to define herself by the life she had lived in the Haotian Sect. She used the sect's agents to identify Lin Ye, investigated every steward surnamed Lin, and eventually located him by posing as an inner-sect inspector. 5 6 12

The Diary's first major reward settlement made her its most-mentioned character, increasing her Soul Power by three levels and granting both a Ten-Thousand-Year Right Leg Bone and one year of concealment from Tang San's perception.
