Leaving the City Together
At the same time.
Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy, Female Dormitory.
Ju Zi sat in front of the dressing table, slowly reading through the contents of the diary.
She hadn't dressed up today; her long hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and she wore no makeup.
She looked pretty in the mirror, but there was a faint bluish tint under her eyes, indicating that she hadn't slept much last night.
She read every single word Lin Ye wrote.
Regarding how Huo Yuhao will treat Xu Yunhan in the future, regarding how Huo Yuhao will choose to escape in the future, regarding whether Huo Yuhao will be worthy of the whole world but unworthy of his own son in the future.
Every word was like a needle, pricking the softest spot in her heart.
The things she does in the future will surely be resented by Huo Yuhao, and she is prepared to be hated by him for the rest of her life.
That's always been her style of doing things. Once she's decided on something, she'll stick to it no matter what the consequences are, and she'll bear them herself.
Using that method to conceive Huo Yuhao's child was the most extreme thing she had ever done in her life, but she didn't regret it.
In the future, she might fall in love with Huo Yuhao, to the point that she would stop at nothing, to the point that she could endure all his resentment and contempt.
But what she didn't expect was that Huo Yuhao even hated the child.
Or rather, it's indifference, an attitude that chills the heart even more than hatred.
Hating someone at least shows that you care; ignoring someone means you don't even care.
Huo Yuhao's attitude towards Xu Yunhan was one of indifference, complete indifference.
He couldn't be bothered with it, couldn't be bothered to acknowledge it, couldn't be bothered to appear in front of this child, just as if Xu Yunhan were a blade of grass by the roadside, Huo Yuhao saw but pretended not to see.
Ju Zi lowered her head and buried her face in her hands.
She didn't cry; she just felt a dull ache in her chest, like someone was hitting her with a hammer.
In her diary, Lin Ye wrote that when she made that choice in the future, she thought the worst outcome would be that Huo Yuhao would completely break off relations with her and never see her again.
She felt she could accept the outcome; her love was something stolen, so returning it wouldn't hurt.
But she never expected that Huo Yuhao would treat even the children this way.
The break was a break with her; the child hadn't wronged him. But he didn't see it that way.
"Huo Yuhao"
Ju Zi looked up at her haggard face in the mirror, her voice hoarse. "You hate me, I accept that; you'll never forgive me, I accept that! But you shouldn't treat your son like this!"
She took a deep breath, stood up, walked to the window, and drew back the curtains, letting in the blinding sunlight.
She squinted at the sky outside the window and suddenly felt that some things needed to be reconsidered.
Lin Ye wrote a long, detailed critique of Huo Yuhao and Dai Hao in his diary, until his head was spinning.
Since it was a rare day off, Lin Ye went to the training ground for a while. He didn't really train properly, but just stretched his muscles and worked up a light sweat.
In the evening, he went back to his dorm, took a shower, changed into clean clothes, then moved a chair to the window and sat down, watching the sunset gradually darken, not thinking about anything, just spacing out.
Occasionally, taking a moment to relax like this allows me to feel all the muscles in my body slowly unwind.
Even when Wang Dong'er pushed the door open and came in, Lin Ye didn't go to look at her.
Wang Dong'er found it strange that Lin Ye was standing by the window in a daze, but she didn't disturb him.
At midnight, the system promptly calculated today's rewards.
Lin Ye leaned against the headboard, his consciousness sinking into his mind to examine the situation.
No critical hit was triggered.
Today's luck was so-so; the system gave me a batch of rare Soul Tool crafting materials, plus some basic Soul Power rewards.
Lin Ye was neither disappointed nor excited about the result. Critical hits are something that can't be forced; not getting a critical hit is the norm.
He put the materials away, checked the system interface to make sure he hadn't missed anything, then closed the interface and went to sleep.
I slept without any dreams.
The next morning, Lin Ye was awakened by a knock on the door.
He groggily got out of bed, put on his school uniform, opened the door, and saw Wu Feng leaning against the door frame, impatiently tapping on the door with his fingers.
Standing beside him was Ning Tian, holding a thick textbook in his hands, his expression as calm as ever.
"You're still sleeping in? Aren't you afraid of being late?"
Wu Feng raised an eyebrow. "Hurry up and wash up so we can go together. The cafeteria is almost out of food; if we don't go soon, we won't even be able to get a steamed bun."
Lin Ye yawned and scratched his head. "You guys go ahead, I'll wash my face and be right there."
"By the time you finish washing your face, the cafeteria ladies will have already closed up shop."
Wu Feng rolled his eyes. "Hurry up, Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao have already gone to reserve seats."
Helpless, Lin Ye quickly finished washing up and followed the two downstairs.
The three of them walked through the alley in the dormitory area and saw in the distance that there were already quite a few people lined up at the entrance of the cafeteria. They were all freshmen and seniors in school uniforms, chatting away.
Upon entering the cafeteria, Wang Dong'er and Xiao Xiao had indeed already taken their seats.
At a long table by the window, Wang Dong'er sat in the innermost part, with a bowl of porridge and a small dish of side dishes in front of her, eating at a leisurely pace.
Xiao Xiao sat opposite Wang Dong'er, her plate piled high with two steamed buns, an egg, and a bowl of soy milk, which she devoured with lightning speed.
Seeing Lin Ye and the others arrive, he waved to them with his mouth full of steamed buns.
Lin Ye went to the window and got breakfast: a bowl of porridge, two steamed buns, a plate of pickled vegetables, and a boiled egg.
He carried his tray back and sat down, but Wu Feng had already taken the seat he wanted, so he had to go around to the opposite side and sit next to Xiao Xiao.
Ning Tian sat down next to Wang Dong'er. His plate contained only a bowl of congee and half a steamed bun, so simple that Wu Feng couldn't help but glance at it a few more times.
"You only eat this little? Aren't you afraid of going hungry?"
Wu Feng placed the extra meat bun from his plate onto Ning Tian's plate.
Ning Tian glanced at her, didn't refuse, picked up the bun and took a small bite, which was considered an acceptance of her kindness.
Wu Feng nodded in satisfaction and began to deal with the small mountain of food in front of him.
Five people sat at a table eating; the atmosphere wasn't exactly lively, but it wasn't quiet either.
After finishing their meal, the five of them walked together towards the Teaching Building.
The morning classes ended quickly.
It was called a class, but it was really just a basic theory class where the teacher stood on the podium and talked about the principles of Soul Power circulation for a whole morning.
Lin Ye sat by the window, initially listening for a few moments, but then his mind started to wander.
Sunlight streamed through the leaves outside the window, casting dappled shadows on the desks, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made one feel drowsy.
He used his consciousness to browse through the system interface in his mind, sorted out the Soul Tool materials he had obtained last night, and pondered what these materials could be used to make.
Wu Feng was next to him. At first, he pretended to draw a few strokes in the notebook, but later he simply closed the notebook and lay down on the table to catch up on sleep.
I don't know what she did last night, her dark circles are practically hanging down to her chin.
