Huo Yuhao Becomes a God
Since we've already mentioned Huo Yuhao, let's write about what happened after Huo Yuhao ascension today.
We've already discussed his ascension to godhood and his situation in the Divine Realm, but there's one detail we haven't elaborated on.
That detail was the most frustrating moment of Huo Yuhao's life, even more frustrating than the hunger and cold he suffered in the Duke's Mansion as a child. He was so frustrated that he knelt on the ground, unable to utter a single word.
The story begins on the day Huo Yuhao ascended to the Divine Realm.
He cultivated with all his might, striving to become stronger, climbing all the way from the illegitimate son of the Duke's Mansion to the position of the God of Emotions.
Before ascending, he had a simple plan: once he reached the Divine Realm, he would be able to see Tang Wutong, and the two of them would no longer be separated by the distance between the lower realm and the Divine Realm.
He stepped into the Divine Realm with great joy, but what awaited him was not a reunion, but Tang San.
When Xiaoxiao saw the name Tang San, her smile froze. Xiao Xiao's understanding of Tang San came entirely from her diary.
But every time she saw this name appear in Huo Yuhao's story, she felt it wasn't a good thing.
Tang San didn't give Huo Yuhao any chance to explain.
The moment Huo Yuhao stepped into the Divine Realm, Tang San made his move.
A God King against a newly ascended god—the outcome was predictable: Huo Yuhao was utterly defeated and could only flee.
He fled all over the Divine Realm, pursued by Tang San, looking as pathetic as a stray dog.
He didn't know why Tang San wanted to kill him, nor did he know what he had done wrong. He only knew that if he didn't run, he would die in the Divine Realm.
When Ma Xiaotao saw the part where Huo Yuhao was being chased by Tang San, she clenched the towel in her hand tighter. Ma Xiaotao's hatred for Tang San was already deeply ingrained.
But seeing that Tang San didn't even spare his own son-in-law, she still felt that this god had gone too far.
As Huo Yuhao ran, he encountered someone: Dai Mubai.
The ancestor of the White Tiger Duke's Estate, one of the original Shrek Seven Monsters, and the War God of the Divine Realm.
When Huo Yuhao saw Dai Mubai, a glimmer of hope rose in his heart. This was his ancestor, the source of the Dai Clan's bloodline.
He thought Dai Mubai would stand up for him, at least ask why. But Dai Mubai didn't.
When Wang Dong'er saw Dai Mubai appear, she stopped what she was doing.
Wang Dong'er didn't know much about Dai Mubai, only that he was one of the First-Generation Seven Monsters. But she knew what the Dai Clan had done to Huo Yuhao, and she also knew how deep Huo Yuhao's hatred for the Dai Clan was.
The first thing Dai Mubai did was to ask Huo Yuhao to change his surname.
He said that since Huo Yuhao had ascended to the Divine Realm, he should acknowledge his ancestors and return to his roots, changing Huo Yuhao to Dai Yuhao.
Huo Yuhao thought he had misheard. He had just been chased by Tang San for half a day and was almost dead. The first thing Tang San did when he met the ancestor was not to ask about his injuries or the reason for his death, but to tell him to change his surname.
Dai Mubai was very direct: he wouldn't help him unless he changed his surname.
If Huo Yuhao doesn't restore the Dai Clan name, Dai Mubai will not only refuse to help, but will also help Tang San against him.
Xiao Xiao could hardly believe what she was seeing. An ancestor, upon seeing his long-lost descendant, didn't ask about his well-being; instead, he forced him to change his surname.
Xiao Xiao thought this was too outrageous, but it was written in black and white in her diary, so she couldn't help but believe it.
Huo Yuhao refused. He refused decisively. Dai Mubai thought he would compromise. After all, he was being hunted down by the God King on one side and faced with the conditions from the God of War God on the other. Any normal person would give in.
But Huo Yuhao didn't. He had suffered enough injustices in the Dai Clan in his life. His mother died in a side courtyard, and he was trampled underfoot since childhood. All the Dai Clan gave him was suffering.
The surname Huo was the only thing his mother left him, the only thing he cherished from childhood. He could die in the Divine Realm, but he would not change his surname.
Huo Yuhao broke off relations with Dai Mubai, and also with Tang San.
He stood alone in the Divine Realm, with the God King and the War God before him and an abyss behind him. He knew he couldn't defeat them, but he refused to bow his head.
He had bowed his head far enough in his life—at the Duke's Mansion's mansion, at the Dai Clan's, and before those who looked down on him. This time, he didn't want to bow.
Just as Huo Yuhao was preparing to fight desperately, someone appeared—it was Huo Yun'er.
Ma Xiaotao leaned against the corridor wall and paused for a moment when she saw the name Huo Yun'er.
She remembered that Huo Yun'er was Huo Yuhao's mother, the woman who died in the side courtyard of the Duke's Mansion, but wasn't Huo Yun'er dead?
Huo Yun'er was resurrected by Tang San. Before Tang San chased after Huo Yuhao, he had already found and resurrected Huo Yun'er's soul.
His purpose in doing this was very clear: he knew Huo Yuhao would resist, so he used Huo Yun'er as his last bargaining chip.
Huo Yun'er stood in front of Huo Yuhao, looking at her son who had come back from the dead, tears streaming down her face.
She didn't try to persuade Huo Yuhao to give in, nor did she urge him to accept his fate. She simply stood there, looking at her son.
Huo Yun'er said to Huo Yuhao, "Child, change your surname."
Huo Yun'er didn't cry when she said this; her tone was very calm.
She said she knew Huo Yuhao hated the Dai Clan, but she didn't want to watch her son die in the Divine Realm. She said the surname Dai wouldn't make Huo Yuhao forget her, nor would it change the fact that Huo Yuhao was her son.
A surname is just one character; living is what matters most.
Xiao Xiao felt a lump in her throat when she read this.
She hugged the cushion tightly to her chest.
Huo Yun'er's words reminded her of her family.
Although her parents are still alive, she can imagine what a mother would feel watching her son face a life-or-death decision.
After hearing his mother's words, Huo Yuhao knelt on the ground and cried.
He hadn't cried since leaving the Duke's Mansion, not even when things were bitter or difficult, but this time he couldn't hold back.
He knelt before Huo Yun'er, crying like a child.
He agreed to change his surname, and from that moment on, there was no longer Huo Yuhao, only Dai Yuhao.
Seeing that Huo Yuhao had agreed, Dai Mubai withdrew his threat, and Tang San did not pursue him any further.
Huo Yuhao traded his surname for a life, gaining the right to live in the Divine Realm. But whether he truly overcame the inner turmoil, only Huo Yuhao himself knows.
Ma Xiaotao tore off the towel and held it in her hand.
She didn't know how to evaluate Huo Yuhao's choice. Bowing down was for survival, but the price of bowing down was giving up the only thing her mother had left him.
Ma Xiaotao felt sorry for Huo Yuhao, but she also knew that she might not have had a better solution. She stood up and walked in the opposite direction.
[There's one more thing: Dai Hao was also taken to the Divine Realm.]
Huo Yuhao's family is reunited; Huo Yun'er has been resurrected, and Dai Hao is also there.
Upon seeing Dai Hao, Dai Mubai launched into a tirade of reprimands.
He accused Dai Hao of only knowing how to lead troops into battle and neglecting his family, scolding Dai Hao until he dared not utter a word.
