Background / History

Early life and school life

Yaochuan Guang remembers a happy childhood with Yaochuan Koichiro and Yaochuan Haru as her parents, though much of her past is obscured by amnesia. She visits their graves on their death anniversary and tells them that she has made friends and is doing well. 53

She chose to continue her education at Wind City High School in accordance with her parents' wishes. She hopes to make friends and eventually attend college. As a transfer student in Class A, she initially struggles to approach her peers, but becomes popular after openly talking about her life with Cong Yu and sharing snacks. 11 17 18

Before joining the Wind City Squad, Guang had never fought alongside other people. Her early combat instinct was to rush ahead alone to protect others, often loudly announcing her attacks and unintentionally exposing her allies to danger. 8 10

Training and growth

Recognizing her own weakness, Guang volunteers for winter-break training under Red. She learns hand-to-hand combat, martial arts fundamentals, weapon use, and spell formulas, though her habit of copying multiple styles initially leaves her indecisive in battle. 195 232 245

During a battle against Vampires, Guang realizes that borrowed techniques cannot replace a style of her own. She begins relying on instinct, blending physical combat with light constructs, and eventually develops the practical combat experience of a Purge Squad member while surpassing most of them in raw power. 245 246 345

Demon King identity

Guang repeatedly encounters Black Yaochuan in dreams, first interpreting her as a second personality. Black Yaochuan is later identified as a manifestation of Guang's memories from her time as a Monster. 225 300

Cong Yu eventually reveals that Guang's original name is Light Night, the Demon King. The original Yaochuan Guang and her parents were consumed by the Demon King; the present Guang is the Demon King's incarnation, carrying a life and identity shaped by her own experiences. 516 517

Rather than merge with Black Yaochuan and risk erasing her, Guang accepts the Demon King's memories while preserving both her own personality and Black Yaochuan's existence. 518
