"There are five students moving up to second year this time, and they're all exceptionally talented. I think you'll be very happy once you meet them!" Gojo Satoru said to Atsuya Kusakabe beside him.
"I certainly hope so." Atsuya Kusakabe gave Gojo Satoru a slight nod with an indifferent expression, though he could not help grumbling inwardly: I'd rather these students were more ordinary. After all, being outstanding... is often another word for trouble.
Gojo Satoru's brow rose slightly beneath his blindfold. This guy really was cold. Still, at least he was not a "bad person." He was absolutely qualified to be a teacher.
He pushed open the classroom door and entered with Atsuya Kusakabe.
Xia Jie and Okkotsu, along with the others, looked mildly surprised when Gojo Satoru entered with an unfamiliar man.
Atsuya Kusakabe's gaze swept over the astonished students in the classroom as their files flashed through his mind.
Okkotsu Yuta: 17 years old, Special-Grade Jujutsu Sorcerer. Theory: 10, Cursed Technique: 10, athletic ability: 9. (Maximum score: 10.)
Xia Jie: 17 years old, Semi-Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer. Theory: 10, Cursed Technique: 9, athletic ability: 7.
Toge Inumaki: 17 years old, Semi-Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer. Theory: 7, Cursed Technique: 6, athletic ability: 9.
Panda: Semi-Grade 2 Jujutsu Sorcerer. Theory: 8, Cursed Technique: 6, athletic ability: 10.
Zenin Maki: 16 years old, Grade 4 Jujutsu Sorcerer. Theory: 8, Cursed Technique: 0, athletic ability: 10.
Gojo Satoru clapped his hands and addressed his students. "Everyone, spring break is almost here! When you return to Jujutsu High afterward, you'll be second-year students! Before spring break begins, allow me to introduce your future second-year homeroom teacher—Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer Atsuya Kusakabe."
"Let's give him a round of applause!"
After saying that, Gojo Satoru began clapping first. Yet none of the students in their seats, including Xia Jie, applauded. They all stared at him in stunned disbelief.
"Why are we suddenly changing teachers?" Maki was the first to speak.
Though Maki often called Gojo Satoru an idiot behind his back, she genuinely respected him.
Upon suddenly hearing that they were "changing teachers," she stepped up to question it before any of the boys did.
Atsuya Kusakabe glanced at Maki and inwardly muttered, Troublesome. As he withdrew his gaze, he noticed Xia Jie secretly observing him and promptly labeled him troublesome as well.
Watching Atsuya Kusakabe, who looked serious on the surface but had a distracted gaze, Xia Jie was basically certain that his personality was not much different from the original. He was an exemplary salaryman who deeply understood the arts of slacking off and lying flat. Xia Jie just wondered what he would be like as a teacher.
"Already reluctant to part with me, Maki-chan?" Gojo Satoru teased.
"Who would miss you?" Maki immediately retorted, though her tone was somewhat insincere.
That was Gojo Satoru, after all!
He was unquestionably the strongest in the current Jujutsu Society! No Jujutsu Sorcerer could compare to him!
Even if he taught them nothing, simply having him as their teacher was something extraordinarily special!
Besides, Gojo Satoru had always taught his students conscientiously. No student would not want a teacher like him!
"Are you embarrassed, Maki?" Gojo Satoru said with a light laugh. "Even if you can't bear to part with me, there's nothing you can do about it!"
"Under Jujutsu High's rules, first- and second-year students each have different homeroom teachers!
"Once you reach third year, you will no longer have a fixed homeroom teacher."
"Jujutsu High will arrange for high-ranking sorcerers to carry out missions with you. Throughout that year, those high-ranking sorcerers will lead you in continuously exorcising Cursed Spirits to gain experience and help you grow rapidly."
"Instead of only going on a mission once in a while like you do now."
"By the way, sorcerers Grade 2 and above can carry out missions independently. They do not necessarily need another sorcerer accompanying them."
After Gojo Satoru finished speaking and gave the students time to process the information, he added, "Although I've never particularly liked Jujutsu High's rules, its advancement system does have a certain degree of merit!"
Xia Jie and the others fell silent, and no one raised any further questions.
Gojo Satoru looked at his students, then at Atsuya Kusakabe, and clapped his hands. "Cheer up, everyone! That's how moving up works!"
"Don't be sad just because I'll be teaching other students! I'm still at Jujutsu High, after all. You can come find me whenever something is troubling you!"
"Of course, before that, I suggest seeking help from your new homeroom teacher, Mr. Atsuya Kusakabe!"
"Mr. Atsuya Kusakabe is an exceptionally capable Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerer. You needn't worry that he won't be able to solve whatever problems you encounter! Right, Mr. Kusakabe?"
That Gojo... Why did he have to bring me up for no reason?
Atsuya Kusakabe lifted his eyelids and looked at the students watching him. "I will do my utmost to help you resolve the difficulties you encounter. At the same time, I will make sure to train you into Jujutsu Sorcerers capable of standing on your own as soon as possible!"
Atsuya Kusakabe's implication was obvious: solve things yourselves whenever possible, and do not come looking for him over every little matter.
Gojo Satoru was not surprised by Atsuya Kusakabe's answer. Turning to the students, he said, "Mr. Kusakabe absolutely has that capability! Study under him for a while, and you'll understand!"
"Next, I hereby announce the official start of spring break!"
"I really didn't expect Gojo-sensei to stop teaching us," Okkotsu said quietly.
"Salmon." Toge Inumaki was not in high spirits either.
"Jujutsu High has always worked this way. Teachers change every new school year, just like at ordinary high schools," Panda said. Having grown up at Jujutsu High, he had long known about this. "Gojo-sensei knew it too!"
"Even so," Okkotsu sighed, "Gojo-sensei suddenly announcing it like this still feels strange to me!"
"That guy is the strongest, no matter what. Naturally, he's different from everyone else," Maki said flatly.
They all fell silent at once.
That was right. The word "strongest" held an undeniable appeal for students.
"Come to think of it, where's Xia Jie?" Maki asked.
"He wants to return to China during spring break, so he went to ask the teacher for permission," Panda said. "Speaking of which, what are all of you doing for spring break?"
"I'm going abroad as well, to search for Miguel, Suguru Geto's accomplice," Okkotsu said.
"Huh?" Panda looked at Okkotsu in surprise. "By yourself?"
"Yes." Okkotsu tightened his grip on the katana strapped to his back.
"Well... good luck!" Panda had wanted to offer Okkotsu a few words of concern, but remembering Okkotsu's Special-Grade status, he began worrying instead for the sorcerer named Miguel.
"What about you?" Okkotsu asked.
"I'm going to train with Masamichi." Panda blinked as he answered.
In reality, he was going with Masamichi Yaga to a special place, one filled with Cursed Corpses.
"Mayonnaise." After speaking, Toge Inumaki looked at Maki.
At the mention of going home, Maki's gaze drifted as though she were lost in thought.
Several seconds later, she finally said, "I'll probably find a few dojos and improve my hand-to-hand combat skills. I can't let you all keep leaving me behind!"
By the end, Maki's eyes had become resolute once more.
