King's Landing's Doomsday
King's Landing has two very bustling streets: one called Street of Steel and the other Silk Street.
The former mainly deals in armor and weapons, as well as some Westeros specialties, while the latter mainly deals in "Eastern goods," that is, goods from the Free Cities across the Narrow Sea.
For example, Myr's lace and carpets, Lys's wine, and Braavos's dyes—
However, due to the war, the Free Cities has stopped supplying goods, and Silk Street has become deserted. Only Street of Steel can still barely maintain its pre-war prosperity.
During Jon's brief period of control over King's Landing's King's Landing, the main streets were converted into two-way streets, which made the streets appear quite orderly.
But just then, several golden figures, like runaway horses, caused a commotion in the street.
"Gold Cloaks, seize people! Get out of the way!"
"Get out of the way! Everyone get out of the way!"
The rough noise and movements knocked the porters' stalls over, making it unclear whether they were there to do business or were deliberately bullying people.
These golden figures were Gold Cloaks City Watch. They came in with great force, carrying portraits and questioning each person in turn.
Have you seen this person before?
"This person is a traitor."
"A bounty of one thousand Gold Dragon!"
"By order of the Queen, arrest the traitor Davos!"
Soon, the Gold Cloaks arrived at a stall selling onions and rosemary and asked, "Have you seen the person in the portrait? This is the traitor Davos Seaworth. A reward of one thousand Gold Dragon will be given for any information leading to his arrest."
"No, I've never seen you before."
The Gold Cloaks sized up the old farmer who was nearly fifty years old. His bowed and submissive manner did not resemble that of a great man at all.
Looking at his two sons behind him, they also seemed to have never seen anything like it before, and they took the portrait to ask others.
As the man in the Gold Cloaks walked away, Davos, disguised as an old farmer and stall owner, and his two young sons breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hand of the King is really tough these days. One after another, they either betray us or die. First it was Jon Arryn, then Eddard Stark, the Imp Tyrion, and now it's Davos."
The fabric shop owner next to him, wearing a blue shirt, remarked with his hands clasped in his pockets, "Owning a shop is equivalent to having a certain social status, and naturally, one's knowledge and experience will be broader."
Davos glanced at the owner of the fabric shop but didn't say anything.
Thanks to Jon's reminder, he was able to escape from the Red Keep in time.
Having just left the Red Keep, I received news that someone, acting on the Queen's orders, had captured the traitor Davos.
First, find your two sons who serve in King's Landing — Devan and Stephen.
After changing his two sons' clothes, the father and his two sons quickly bought an old farmer's stall and clothes with the money they had on them. After disguising themselves, they hid there.
"Father, where should we go now?" Stephen, with his brown hair, asked softly.
Where should we go?
Davos thought about it, but he himself didn't know.
When Jon sent word that Stannis was dead, he initially didn't believe it, or rather, didn't want to believe it. He couldn't even bear to think about the safety of his youngest son Little Stannis.
But now that they're arresting me on the Queen's orders, I have no choice but to believe them.
He has to accept reality.
Davos rallied his spirits and decided to find Shireen. A little girl who had lost her father and whose mother's family had betrayed her must be in great danger.
But how could I possibly save her given my current situation?
After much deliberation, Davos realized there was only one way: to go find Jon.
Although Davos loved Shireen, he also knew how dangerous the Iron Throne was for Shireen.
The Iron Throne for whoever wants to sit on it; I absolutely cannot put this little girl in that position, nor can I stand by and watch someone else put her there.
Red Keep, Shireen was reading in her room, with a wooden sword filled with lead beside her.
Her delicate little hands had recently developed many blisters from wielding the sword, but she didn't give up, thinking that perhaps one day she could help her father.
Just then, Shireen's door suddenly opened, which puzzled her. Her father and mother had both left King's Landing, and if someone wanted to come looking for her, they should at least have notified her beforehand.
The door to the room opened, and several Gold Cloaks entered first, followed by a bald man who barged into Shireen's room.
--
"Your Highness, we must leave the Red Keep immediately."
"Leave? What about my father and mother?"
Instead of directly answering Shireen's question, Varys said, "Her Majesty the Queen will be waiting for us in the Vale."
"The Vale? Aren't we going back to Dragonstone?" In Shireen's heart, only Dragonstone was her true home.
"Yes, Your Highness, we must hurry."
"And what about Sir Davos?" Shireen asked. Ever since Stannis left with his troops, Davos had come to see her almost every evening.
"Sir Davos has other matters to attend to, and we'll travel to the Vale together later. Let's take the boat there first."
Shireen looked into Varys's pale purple eyes, feeling uncertain, but the current situation clearly left her no room to refuse, nor did she have the power to do so.
Varys, in particular, spoke in a relatively calm tone, but with an unusual urgency, as if King's Landing was about to fall.
Indeed, once Varys and Littlefinger bring their armies to the Vale, the Crownlands will naturally be exposed to Jon's forces.
The Crownlands is definitely not going to be held. Since it can't be held, we might as well wait for Young Griff to come and take it back later. The most urgent thing now is to leave as soon as possible, and especially to take the opportunity to move all the valuable things in the Red Keep.
Shireen obediently said she would pack up immediately, since even if Jon ran as fast as he could, he couldn't possibly fly to the Crownlands right now. Varys nodded in agreement, but still ordered someone to stay and watch over Shireen to prevent any accidents from happening.
But in the blink of an eye, Varys received bad news.
"Petyr the idiot!"
When he learned that Petyr had lost half of his army, he felt as if his heart was bleeding.
The only thing that gives him some peace of mind right now is that the Vale is absolutely safe. As long as there are no dragons, no one can break through the Blood Gate.
Soon, Shireen and Varys boarded a carriage and left the Red Keep, then took a boat from Blackwater Bay to Gulltown in the Vale.
In an instant, Crownlands, the original center of the Seven Kingdoms, became a no-man's-land.
However, power abhors a vacuum.
The guards in the Red Keep were the first to react, because Grand Maester Pycelle's room was on fire!
This is a very important matter, because the Grand Maester is in charge of many important seals and documents.
The guards and servants in the Red Keep rushed to put out the fire, but by the time it was extinguished, it was too late.
They found only a hunched, emaciated, charred corpse in the wreckage of the room.
Soon, some people thought about reporting this matter, but they couldn't find anyone to report it to.
A group of guards and servants huddled together, but they seemed like headless Fly, unable to come up with a single idea.
But soon, an assistant maester received a letter— Petyr Baelish the Fingers of the Vale, conspired with Queen Selyse Baratheon to murder the king, and now there is only one legitimate king in the Seven Kingdoms, Jon Targaryen, son of Rhaegar Targaryen, the crown prince of Aerys.
The news caused an uproar throughout the Red Keep.
Stannis is dead, Jon is far away in the Riverlands, Red Keep, King's Landing, and indeed the entire Crownlands are unclaimed!
A brilliant idea quickly emerged between the guards and the assistant scholar.
They immediately began looting anything of value still inside the Red Keep.
Murals, carpets, the queen's and king's wardrobes.
Tables, chairs, benches, swords, armor, and even the cooks in the kitchen started fighting over pots and pans.
Under this ant-like frenzy of consumption, the Red Keep was soon reduced to an empty shell.
When the commoners of King's King's Landing discovered that the once noble and mysterious Red Keep was unguarded, they flocked in.
Their looting became even more frenzied; the animals in the garden, the flowerbeds and flowerpots were hollowed out and carried away, and even the paving stones and flagstones were taken away.
Some people entered the King and Queen's room to experience what it felt like for the King and Queen to have sex, while others entered the Tower of the Hand to cosplay the Hand of the King.
Some people from the circus also took the opportunity to sneak in and see if there was anything they could use for inspiration.
Finally, a group of people who might never have the chance to see the king in their entire lives arrived before the Iron Throne that symbolized the king's dignity.
"I'll give it a try!"
A bold Smith stepped forward, carrying his long sword, and walked somewhat shakily up to the towering Iron Throne.
Thump thump-thump-
The hard-soled shoes collided with the steel steps of the Iron Throne, making a crisp sound. The Smith, who had never even slaughtered a chicken, duck, pig, or sheep in his entire life, gradually fell into the embrace of this steel behemoth.
With such a huge pile of iron, how many swords and armors could be forged?
As the Smith felt the throne beneath his buttocks, he couldn't help but think that soon everyone had gone mad, howling that they wanted to try what it was like to be king.
However, the spikes on the Iron Throne proved their power; people frequently tumbled down the high steps of the Iron Throne, their hands, feet, and even torsos piercing through the Iron Throne.
Flesh and blood clung to the steel monster, and blood trickled down in streams.
But that couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of people from all walks of life who came to try it.
Before long, King's Landing established its own new order.
A prostitute claimed that her son was Robert's illegitimate child and should be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
Some people argued that the Iron Throne should belong to the Targaryen, so they found a silver-haired child from somewhere.
Scholars can't help but think of the Moon of the Three Kings during the Dance of the Dragons.
That was a farce that took place in King's Landing after the deaths of Rhaenyra I and Aegon II.
Blood, desire, and madness, in this former center of power, compose a tragic song called Doomsday.
