A Max-Level Powerhouse Visits a Comic Con
As you pass through the hexagonal orange portal, the feeling of weightlessness vanishes instantly.
Jiang Li's feet landed on the hard metal floor.
What comes into view is a futuristic city full of cyberpunk style—New York in the Earth-928 universe.
Anti-gravity lanes crisscrossed in mid-air, and towering glass skyscrapers shimmered with a cold blue light. Their current location was the city's most central inverted pyramid building: the Spider-Society headquarters.
"Oh my God..."
Miles stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window at the edge of the hall, watching the maglev train speeding by outside, his hands behind his head, his mouth agape.
"Surprised? Move along, Brooklyn kid." Hobie nudged Miles's shoulder with his guitar handle.
Several SWAT Spider-Man led the way, escorting the villain the Spot, who was bound like a dumpling. Jiang Li, holding Gwen's hand, followed behind as if they were strolling through a shopping mall.
The wide, circular corridor was bustling with noise.
This place is practically a "Spider-Man biodiversity exhibition hall".
Jiang Li saw several Spider-Man dressed in classic red and blue suits pointing at each other and arguing about who the real Peter Parker was in a rest area on the left.
In the passageway on the right, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, as tall as a two-story building, wearing a red and blue mask, is walking with heavy steps, holding an extra-large cup of coffee in its hand.
In the corner, there was even an orange cat wearing an eye patch, hanging a mouse upside down with Silk.
"This place is quite interesting. It would be perfect for opening a themed zoo," Jiang Li remarked casually, looking around.
Gwen stood close to Jiang Li, listening to her boyfriend's complaints, and couldn't help but chuckle.
"Be quiet."
The lead SWAT officer stopped in his tracks. Ahead stood a massive metal airlock.
The airlock slowly rose upwards.
An extremely large central control hall appeared before everyone's eyes.
In the very center of the hall, a holographic projection occupying half the room floats in the air. The projection features a net-like structure woven from countless fine golden lines—the "Web of Life and Destiny" of the entire Marvel Multiverse.
A burly man stood in front of the control panel.
He wasn't wearing a hood, but rather a dark blue suit with a red skull and spider pattern. His muscles were extremely muscular, and his brow was furrowed, revealing a weariness and irritability stemming from years of being under high pressure.
League of Legends leader, Spider-Man 2099, Miguel Hala.
"Throw that the Spot into the suppression chamber."
Miguel didn't turn around; his voice was low and hoarse.
The SWAT officers immediately dragged the Spot away.
Miguel turned around, his bloodshot eyes locking onto Gwen in the crowd.
"Gwen Daisy." Miguel strode down the steps, his imposing physique exuding an overwhelming aura of power. "You violated the Alliance's 16th rule. You severed your connection without authorization and went to contact this variant in Earth-1610."
Miguel pointed to Miles beside him, "Not only that, you also brought this mistake of never becoming Spider-Man to headquarters!"
"Hey! Watch your tone!" Miles puffed out his chest. "I've saved a lot of people in Brooklyn too!"
"Shut up, kid. You have no idea how much trouble your mistake has caused the universe."
Miguel gave Miles a cold glance, then his gaze finally passed over Gwen and landed on Jiang Li was standing at the very back.
"Who is this?" Miguel frowned, turning to the SWAT team leader. "I ordered you to bring back this unregistered anomalous entity, and you didn't even do a basic identity profile?"
"Sir," the SWAT officer stood at attention nervously, "Our scanner is ineffective against him. Forcing a scan will burn out the equipment."
Upon hearing this, Miguel finally focused all his attention on Jiang Li.
Miguel was an extreme pragmatist. He sensed an extremely dangerous aura from Jiang Li's casual posture and undisguised gaze.
At this critical juncture of maintaining the stability of the Multiverse, any unknown entity that cannot be scanned is a huge time bomb.
I don't care which dimension you come from.
Miguel raised his right arm, and an orange holographic tactical board popped out from his wrist, aiming at Jiang Li.
"This is the Spider-Society. You'll have to stay in this cage for a while until you prove you pose no threat to the web-weaving. I'll personally investigate your background."
A red light flashed on the holographic tactical board, and a high-intensity particle beam prison descended instantly from the dome of the hall, preparing to envelop Jiang Li within it.
"Miguel! How dare you!" Gwen's eyes turned cold, and she instantly assumed a fighting stance. She would not allow anyone to be disrespectful to Jiang Li.
But Jiang Li's movements were faster and more understated.
He didn't even take his hands out of his trench coat pockets. Facing the prison cell descending above him, Jiang Li simply raised his left foot and gently stomped it on the metal floor.
Bang.
A soft, muffled thud.
The impending particle beam prison went out with a "buzz," just like a light bulb that had been suddenly unplugged.
Not only that.
The extremely advanced holographic tactical tablet on Miguel's wrist flickered twice before going completely black, rendering it unusable.
The dozens of SWAT Spider-Man working in the hall instantly drew their weapons and aimed them at Jiang Li.
The atmosphere plummeted to freezing point.
But Jiang Li remained calm and composed. He even reached out to help Gwen tidy up her hair, which had been ruffled by the gust of wind.
"I came here with my girlfriend as a guest, not to go to jail."
Jiang Li raised his head and looked directly into Miguel's eyes, his gaze revealing an undeniable composure.
"If you don't know how to treat guests, I don't mind teaching you myself."
Miguel's pupils contracted sharply. He hadn't even seen how Jiang Li destroyed the particle prison and his control panel. Was it pure physical vibration? Or some kind of high-dimensional technological hacking?
"Put down your weapons."
Miguel gritted his teeth and waved to the surrounding SWAT officers. Now was not the time to clash with this mysterious man; he had more important matters to attend to.
Miguel took a deep breath, turned around, and walked back to the control panel.
"Since you insist on coming along, Miles, come here."
Miguel tapped a few times on the control panel, and the holographic projection in mid-air changed instantly.
The original golden mesh structure splits into countless floating image windows.
Each window displays a tragedy experienced by Spider-Man from a different universe: Uncle Ben lying in a pool of blood, Sheriff George Stacy being crushed by collapsing rubble, and a loved one dying in Spider-Man's arms.
"Miles. In this universe, heroes are always accompanied by loss."
Miguel's voice became somewhat heavy.
The holographic images converged into a single focal point. In the image appeared Miles's father, Sheriff Jefferson.
"Based on the algorithm's predictions, your father will perish in the disaster caused by the Spot in two days."
Miguel turned his head and stared intently at Miles.
"This is your destiny. And also the ' Canon Events ' that keeps your universe from being destroyed."
Miles was struck dumb, frozen in place.
