Background
A gravitational-wave resonance involving Jiang Li's Omnitrix and the Space Stone briefly opened a view into Earth-65, where Jiang Li first saw Gwen swinging between New York skyscrapers 22. During the Battle of New York, Gwen was pulled through the wormhole into the main universe and saved Jiang Li after he fell from Stark Tower. She immediately joined him against the Chitauri, using her webbing and Spider-Sense to fight while helping him reach the tower 25.
Unable to return home after the wormhole closed, Gwen adapted to life in the main universe. Tony Stark arranged a Midtown High enrollment and a cover identity for her, while Stark Industries upgraded her web-shooters 27 28. She subsequently fought alongside Jiang Li and the Avengers against Hydra, Ultron, and other threats.
Her displacement carried a severe consequence: the main universe rejected her quantum signature, causing painful flickering and partial intangibility. Gwen traveled with Jiang Li to Kamar-Taj to seek treatment. Although she naturally opened a magic portal where Jiang Li struggled, her condition worsened until Clockwork synchronized her temporal flow with the universe's quantum frequency, temporarily stabilizing her 43 45.
After becoming commander of the Plumbers, Gwen coordinated the organization’s military resources, including the lunar base’s orbital cannon during the Wakandan conflict 76 79. She later returned with Jiang Li to Earth-65, reunited with her father, and helped establish a Plumbers branch beneath the Statue of Liberty 95 99 100.
Jiang Li and Gwen ultimately rejected the Spider-Society’s demand that Captain George Stacy and Jefferson Davis be allowed to die as “Canon Events.” Following the successful rescue of Jefferson and the continued stability of Earth-1610, Gwen witnessed the Spider-Society’s theory collapse 255 258 260. She later returned to Earth-65 with Jiang Li to protect George from the Inheritors 261 264.
Appearance
Gwen is a short-haired blonde young woman with blue eyes and an athletic build. Her usual hero costume is a black-and-white hooded bodysuit with pink web-patterned inner fabric and pink ballet shoes 25 256.
- White hood and black-and-white mask with expressive pink eye lenses 25
- Short blonde hair, later described with pink streaks 25 255
- Wears casual oversized shirts and hot pants at home; she is capable of clinging to ceilings while eating pizza 27
- Later receives the white-and-black White Spider: Infinity Armor, decorated with black spiderweb patterns and a six-stone chest core 132
- Wears a black high-ranking Plumbers uniform while serving as commander 169
Personality
Gwen is quick-witted, outspoken, and prone to teasing allies, particularly Tony Stark and Jiang Li. Even when suddenly displaced into another universe, she responded to the Chitauri invasion with humor and immediately chose to fight 25.
She is deeply protective of those she cares about. Gwen worries intensely over Jiang Li’s tendency to face overwhelming dangers alone, insists that the Plumbers’ burdens are shared, and remains determined to protect both her father and Miles Morales’s father despite the Spider-Society’s warnings 83 255. Her confidence grows over the course of the story, from adapting to a new universe to leading Plumbers operations and confronting multiversal threats beside Jiang Li 27 76 264.
