A Strange Disturbance in the Far North
Oscar looked over quickly and saw a petite figure standing there to meet him.
Veya was wearing a bulging coat covered with pockets of all sizes.
Each pocket was tucked with Three-Eyed Icefire Guns!
She held one in each hand and two more on her shoulders, making her a veritable human artillery platform!
"Yay!" Veya fired.
Countless Snow Monster were blown to pieces!
The recoil of the Three-Eyed Icefire Guns, which was originally negligible, underwent a qualitative change, causing Veya to sway from time to time, like a doll dancing in the snow.
"Veya!" Oscar waved.
Veya grinned, her white, yellow, and purple rings swirling around her. She pulled out a flesh-red sausage and stuffed it into her mouth, her Soul Power rapidly recovering.
"Hang in there! I have one last round!"
Before the words were even finished, the gun muzzle had already spat out a deadly flash!
The Snow Monster were completely stunned by this unreasonable firepower and fled in a sorry state!
Oscar quickly patted the Ice Bear, "Snow Tuan, let's go back!"
The Snow Tuan stopped and returned to its Soul Ring.
"I want to eat Flying Mushroom Sausage!"
The delicate, translucent light shimmered as Oscar stuffed the Mushroom Sausage into Veya's mouth and then gnawed on one himself.
The two sprouted Water Crystal wings, dazzling and dreamlike, and flew out of the Snow Monster's sight.
The Snow Monster was left behind, raging helplessly.
"You came just in time!" Oscar breathed a sigh of relief and gave a thumbs up.
"Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to create any distance, and I wouldn't be able to use the Mushroom Sausage to escape!"
Veya exhaled a puff of white smoke, "Your Big Sausage isn't bad either, otherwise my Soul Power would have been exhausted long ago!"
The two looked at each other and smiled knowingly.
"Ha~~" Veya propped her cheek up with her hand, "I wonder if Mom and Dad have cooked dinner yet."
"I haven't had a hot meal in three days while I've been here training with you."
Oscar scratched his head apologetically, "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry?" Veya put her hand to her forehead. "You... never mind."
Oscar was confused and somewhat stunned.
Seeing this, Veya sighed, "Couldn't you have said something like, 'Go back and boil some water, and help me wash my face?'"
"Oh," Oscar exclaimed, suddenly realizing, "Good, good, good!"
Veya's lips twitched when she saw his expression.
What an idiot, just as stupid as your big, clumsy bear!
As the two were talking, the snowdrift next to them suddenly exploded, and a white figure wrapped in cold air rushed towards them!
Roar!!!
Oscar and Veya both widened their eyes at the same time, instinctively leaning back and falling onto the snow.
"My God!" Veya grabbed the Three-Eyed Icefire Guns, "Where did this bear come from!"
Just as she was about to fire, the enormous creature suddenly turned into dust and scattered in the wind and snow.
"Ha ha ha ha--!"
Hote straightened up from the waist-deep snow pit, patted the snow off his knees, and leaned back and forth.
Veya's face flushed red, she sprang up from the snow, and pointed the gun at Hote's forehead.
"Uncle Hote!" she stomped her foot angrily, "If you take another half step forward, I'll open fire!"
Hote shrugged, "Oh dear, where else can I possibly run off to?"
"Look at you two, so nervous, like rabbits being chased by wolves."
"A rabbit?!" Veya bristled. "You're the rabbit! Your whole family are rabbits!"
Hote waved his hand, "Alright, alright, just kidding."
"Besides, Veya, you're Kindness and quick-witted. You'll definitely recognize me and won't have the heart to fire."
Veya angrily sheathed the gun. "That's not necessarily true. Next time I'll fire first, so you don't revert to human form!"
Oscar scrambled up from the snow, brushed the snow off his backside, and said, "Uncle Hote, that was a really ruthless move."
"Veya and I were almost scared to death!"
"Ha, only cowards are scared to death. Are you a coward?"
"The scumbag you did back then almost scared us to death!"
Oscar covered his face with his hands when he brought up that incident.
Hote shrugged. "Fine, you two, don't glare at me."
"We have a rare guest at home, let's go back quickly!"
Veya blinked. "A rare guest? Who is it?"
"You'll find out when we get back," Hote pulled up the collar of his fur coat. "What are you dawdling for? Let's go, let's go."
Oscar and Veya exchanged glances, neither of them able to guess what kind of rare guest could be in this freezing weather, but they still followed Hote back.
Pushing aside the thick animal-hide curtain, the warmth and aroma of stewed meat wafted out.
The charcoal fire inside burned brightly, casting flickering shadows on the wall.
Veya's mother was setting the table with bowls and chopsticks when she looked up and saw the three of them come in. She quickly called out to the inner room.
"You're back! You're back!"
Before Veya could even speak to her mother, she caught sight of several familiar figures at the dining table.
Immediately, he froze on the threshold!
"Night... Teacher Night?!" Oscar froze.
Leading the group was Ye Hua, who was slowly blowing on a cup of hot tea.
Sitting next to her were the sisters Shui Bing'er and Shui Yue'er.
Shui Yue'er's nose was red from the cold, but she was drinking hot soup in big gulps, not even bothering to lift her head.
Sky Dream Ice Silkworm and Snow Empress were also there; the former was drinking heavily and had a drinking contest with Veya's father, while the latter was in a daze.
"You're back?" Ye Hua put down his teacup, sensing Oscar's aura. "Not bad, you haven't been slacking off lately, Quasi-Soul Emperor!"
Oscar scratched his head. "Teacher Ye, what brings you here?"
"I'll take you back," Ye Hua said, looking at him, "And while I'm at it, I'll help Shui Bing'er find a suitable Soul Spirit."
Oscar looked at Shui Bing'er. Shui Bing'er nodded slightly.
Her aura was deep and composed, and her Soul Power fluctuations were no different from his.
Oscar's face twitched!
He had eaten the Immortal Herb given to him by Ye Hua, and with his Soul Spirit and Spirit Bone as a foundation, he rushed to become Quasi-Soul Emperor!
But Shui Bing'er had neither Immortal Herb nor Spirit Bone, yet she was on par with him!
This is somewhat embarrassing for the Long Night Team!
"My benefactor," Veya said, patting Oscar on the back. "He's incredibly diligent in his training!"
"Working from dawn till dusk, I wish I could meditate every day!"
"Also, he got lost when the blizzard blocked the roads last time."
"After running out of supplies, they ate tree roots and grass, enduring for three days before finally making their way back, which terrified my uncle and my parents!"
"Veya!" Oscar blushed and waved his hands repeatedly, "That time it was just bad luck--"
"Tch, that's no excuse for risking your life and running so far. Otherwise, you would have gotten lost," Veya rolled her eyes.
"When you came back, your face was purple from the cold. Hote and the Soul Hunting Group went out to look for you several times!"
Oscar said embarrassedly, "It was after that that Veya's parents insisted that she stay with me, to prevent me from doing anything reckless."
Upon hearing this, Shui Yue'er finally deigned to lift her face from the soup bowl, "Eating tree roots and grass? Can you even eat that stuff?"
"Sure!" Oscar nodded matter-of-factly. "It's just a bit tough to chew, and my teeth will ache for ages afterward."
Shui Yue'er looked at Oscar with a hint of admiration in her eyes.
Oscar felt uncomfortable being stared at, but thankfully Veya pulled him to a seat, which eased the awkwardness.
Ye Hua changed the subject, "Uncle Hote, how's your Soul Hunting Group?"
Hote sat stiffly before his savior, saying, "Thanks to you, I'm doing very well."
"I broke through to the Soul Douluo two months ago, and the Soul Hunting Group's reputation has spread far and wide, bringing in a considerable income."
"My dividends are enough to subsidize the families of the deceased team members, and I can finally rest easy."
"I was planning to wait until this blizzard stopped before taking Xiao Ao to deal with the Soul Spirit, but I didn't expect you to arrive first."
Ye Hua nodded. "Thank you for taking care of me during this time."
"There's no rush regarding the Soul Spirit; I'll find him a suitable one."
"Teacher Ye," Oscar's eyes lit up, "Can I have a combat-type?"
"No problem," Ye Hua already had a plan, "I'll give you a surprise later!"
Oscar was overjoyed.
"Come on, come on, dinner's ready!" Veya's mother brought out a pot full of stewed meat, the aroma filling the air.
The clatter of bowls and chopsticks on the table mingled with laughter, making the wind and snow outside seem even more distant.
The charcoal crackled, and the flames reflected on everyone's faces, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Shui Yue'er had just finished drinking her soup and ate very little, glancing left and right frequently.
When Snow Empress appeared, the soup in her bowl was barely touched. Her gaze was fixed on the dark night sky through the frost-covered windowpane, and her brow was slightly furrowed.
Shui Yue'er put down her bowl and leaned closer. "Big sister? Why aren't you eating?"
Snow Empress, interrupted from her daze, looked at Shui Yue'er and forced a smile, "It's nothing."
Shui Yue'er was puzzled, but she didn't ask too many questions and went back to drink her meat soup.
Ye Hua also noticed Snow Empress's unusual behavior, but before he could ask—
Boom!!!
A deafening explosion occurred outside the window!
The glass whirred and groaned!
The house shook violently!
Sparks from the charcoal brazier were flying out!
Veya's mother exclaimed in surprise and quickly steadied the plates near the edge of the table to prevent them from falling.
"What's going on?!" Hote slammed his wine glass on the table and rushed to the door.
Ye Hua put down his knife and fork, his gaze passing over the window, his eyes slightly narrowed.
The town is located at the entrance to the forest, where flames are shooting into the sky!
