Facing the Enemy

Black Widow discovered a secret passage and charged in alone to hunt down the remaining enemies. Hill and Sharon began an operation nominally called destruction, but was actually copying everything first and destroying it afterward.

Daisy dragged Old Doctor out of the laboratory building. Old Doctor had fought in World War II and blown up German tanks. He was a superhero from Captain America's era, but unlike that unlucky pair, Captain America and Peggy Carter, he had been affected by Pym Particles for years. His physical condition was remarkably good—he could run and jump, nothing like an eighty-year-old man—and he could basically keep up with Daisy's pace.

Suddenly, a strange frequency appeared to her left. The other party was moving quickly, and she hurriedly stopped Old Doctor. "Stop... Oh God! What is that?!"

Before she could identify it properly, a giant over ten meters tall strode before them with booming footsteps.

The giant wore a common laboratory white coat, a suit and tie, and even a watch on his wrist. But both his clothes and body had been enlarged more than tenfold.

Naturally, the most eye-catching thing was his head.

Egghead truly lived up to his name. His head resembled Small-Headed Dad's: pear-shaped, narrow on top and wide at the bottom. There was not a single hair on his scalp, and he wore round spectacles. That pear-like head was also covered by a translucent helmet. His face was brimming with murderous fury, his gaze fixed on Dr. Pym.

Seeing the enemy's appearance, Daisy instinctively took a step back.

They were both gigantic, but Egghead looked far more formidable than those giant insects.

Pym Particles could enlarge people. In the original timeline, the second Ant-Man had relied on that trick to fight Iron Man, War Machine, Spider-Man, Vision, and Black Panther all by himself. He had been insanely powerful.

However, compared with Egghead's current form, the second Ant-Man's enlargement had seemed technologically more advanced. Daisy even remembered a scene in which Dr. Pym himself had grown to his limit and stood shoulder to shoulder with Eternity, one of the Five Elders of the Universe, having a conversation.

In short, Pym Particles were unquestionably Marvel black tech.

Judging from this guy's height, weight, and mental state, he was most likely an early version.

Even if his version number was low, and ten meters did not sound all that tall, standing before him made one feel that terrifying pressure. His enormous body was large enough to crush her flat with a single step.

Daisy felt like she might not be able to beat this enemy.

She turned, intending to ask whether Old Doctor could grow larger too so the two of them could fight him, but seeing the old man empty-handed and apparently ready to talk the enemy to death, she could only draw her revolver and prepare to face him head-on.

At the same time, she hurriedly called for her companions. There was a boss over here!

Ten meters did not sound very tall on paper, but it was actually the height of a three-story building. She had to crane her neck just to see his face. And unlike those monstrous insects, Egghead was also a doctor. He was not stupid, and many of her tactics might not work. His voice boomed like thunder, but unfortunately, he was speaking Hungarian. Daisy did not understand a single word.

Seeing Old Pym stand with his hands on his hips and a righteous expression, preparing to rebuke him, Daisy jumped in fright. Egghead seemed to have been lectured by Old Pym many times before. He did not waste another word and stomped down with a huge foot over a meter long.

Daisy hurriedly accelerated, grabbed Old Pym by the arm, and ran.

As she ran, she looked back and fired one-handed at Egghead's massive head.

With a thunderous bang, the Magnum round burst from the barrel and shrieked toward Egghead.

Egghead was still a researcher by trade. Even as a villain, he had not escaped that principle.

His reflexes were far below those of an ordinary person, and this primitive version of the enlargement ability had further slowed his neural response speed.

Only when the bullet was right in front of him did he instinctively tilt his head, but it was too late. The gleaming bald head took the shot solidly.

However, unlike the lower-version giant insects, Egghead's own technology was far more formidable. The Magnum bullet only pierced his skin before being stopped by the fat layer. It looked like he was bleeding, but the damage was not significant.

"What kind of principle is this?!" Daisy demanded as she ran. When she had watched the movie back then, she had already thought Ant-Man's ability to grow and shrink made no sense. His strength did not change, so logically, his mass should not change when he shrank either. Yet he could ride ants around everywhere instead of crushing them to death.

Growing larger was even more absurd. His strength could multiply as well? He could grab War Machine and toss him around like a toy. Was there any basic physical logic in that?!

The enlarged Egghead before her was highly persuasive proof. His bones, body weight, muscle strength, and all sorts of other things had been enlarged. Where was conservation of mass? Those added portions seemed to have appeared out of thin air!

Seeing that Dr. Pym had not answered, she pressed him again.

He gave her a curious look. They were running for their lives, and she still had such a strong thirst for knowledge? S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were pretty capable these days.

Old Pym was not much younger than Sharon's aunt, Peggy Carter. But that old lady was already lying in bed waiting to die, while he could still run around wildly with Daisy.

Daisy did not believe Pym Particles had not enhanced him somehow.

Old Pym apparently did not fully understand much of the data behind enlargement either. He kept looking back to observe.

"This transformation is not complete. My experimental data should be somewhat higher than what it is currently displaying," he said thoughtfully.

Daisy suddenly shoved him, sending the old man sprawling face-first. A massive rock crashed down exactly where he had been standing moments earlier.

They could not outrun him. Each of the enemy's steps covered several meters. Perhaps feeling that they were too small, Egghead uprooted a tree Daisy could not name and swept it at them like a broom. From time to time, he grabbed rocks from the ground and hurled them down at their heads.

Support had yet to arrive. Even if it did, Daisy suspected it would be useless. She could only think of a way herself.

She tucked her pistol into the back of her waistband and prepared to fight with her ability. She had even thought up an excuse for others: "Chinese kung fu!"

"Doctor, does the body's density increase when someone grows larger?"

"Of course. Density, mass, and volume all increase." Old Pym did not know what trump card she had. Seeing that she was about to charge into a deadly fight, he hurriedly grabbed her. "Young lady, let's split up and run."

The old man was kindhearted. If they split up, he would be the one caught and killed on the spot.

Daisy made a quick calculation. She was not completely without the ability to fight back. Rejecting the old man's goodwill, she told him to run, then charged at Egghead like a martyr.

Her feet moved swiftly. After accelerating twice in succession, she reached Egghead's feet. She looked at the height. With her jumping ability, she could leap up and strike his knee, but being in the air was never as flexible as staying on the ground. Better to attack his ankle!
