Background

Lu Xuan transmigrated alongside the Pangu World-Opening Map after his blood came into contact with it. The map initially showed a sealing progress of 1/19, providing danger warnings and concealing heavenly secrets; Tongtian’s blood later raised this progress to 2/19. Within the map, Lu Xuan witnessed Pangu’s world-opening battle and the Chaos Demon Ape’s role among the Chaos Gods and Demons 2.

He became bound to Tongtian through a blood alliance. Because of the connection between Pangu and the Chaos Demon Ape, Tongtian regarded Lu Xuan as his elder brother in private, while they agreed to address one another as brothers before outsiders 2. Lu Xuan then resolved to become powerful enough to alter the fate of the Interception Sect during the Investiture of the Gods Calamity 3.

Seeking to verify his connection to Pangu and secure cultivation resources, Lu Xuan approached the Twelve Ancestral Witches at Buzhou Mountain. He manipulated Zhurong and Dijiang through the Pangu World-Opening Map and an illusion involving Pangu, gaining the Ancestral Witches’ cooperation and fingertip blood for his cultivation 5 6.

After a long search of the Eastern Sea, Lu Xuan found Abbot Island, refined its stele, and made it his Daoist sanctuary. There he cultivated with the Three Lights Divine Water and the White Lotus, developed his Three Flowers, and used the island as a base beyond the Heavenly Dao’s scrutiny 16 17 32.

Personality

Lu Xuan is calculating, irreverent, and highly protective of his own interests. He often presents himself as an obscure rogue cultivator, avoids unnecessary attention, and conceals crucial knowledge even from allies. His ability to outmaneuver the Three Pure Ones through gifts, tea, and Dao discourse demonstrates both audacity and a willingness to exploit social obligations 21 22.

He is pragmatic in war and cultivation. Lu Xuan does not equate mercy with weakness: he protects the Human Race, but believes survivors must endure hardship to become the foundation of their people’s future. He also forces Yunxiao to confront the consequences of hesitation in the Primordial World 43 79.

Despite this severity, he is loyal to those he considers family. He repeatedly aids Tongtian and the Three Pure Ones, protects Houtu’s plans for the Witch Race, mentors Fuxi, and intervenes to save humans from Demon Race slaughter 38 72 79 94.
