Old Wu is calm and steady around Yu Xiaofeng's battles, but his restraint disappears when Yu Xiaofeng is endangered. He watches Xiaofeng's spar with Tang San without panic, carries him away when he is poisoned, and repeatedly places himself between Xiaofeng and stronger enemies. 17 18 31

His bond with Yu Xiaofeng is paternal rather than merely professional. He worries outside the Soulless Clan's forbidden area for eighteen days, fights the guards when denied access, and later admits that he regards Xiaofeng as his own child. 66 170

Early Mentorship and Spirit-Ring Hunts

Old Wu first acts as Teacher Wu, supplying Yu Xiaofeng with Silk Gloves to improve his Eight Trigrams Palm. During Chen Hao's attack, he remains composed, but ultimately prioritizes Yu Xiaofeng's safety and takes him away from the conflict. 10 12

After Yu Xiaofeng returns following months away, Old Wu accompanies him into the Soul Hunting Forest. Yu Xiaofeng clears his blocked meridians and enables his breakthrough to level 90, binding Old Wu more closely to him. 16

Old Wu then watches Yu Xiaofeng's masked battle with Tang San, escorts him away after Tang San poisons him, and guards him through the dangerous fusion of a nearly two-thousand-year spirit ring and spirit bone. 17 18 19

Elder Fang's Pursuit

When Yu Xiaofeng is surrounded by Soul Emperors and enemy Titled Douluo, Old Wu tries to intervene alongside Ghost Douluo but is held back. He later joins Yu Xiaofeng and Ghost Douluo in escaping Elder Fang's forces. 29 30

After Elder Fang captures Yu Xiaofeng in a crystal ball, Old Wu unleashes Dragon Transformation, kills Wuxin and Liu Tian, and pursues the fleeing enemy with Ghost Douluo. The exertion forces his power down to level 51 after he escapes. 34 35

Reforging Through Dragon Transformation

Old Wu's post-transformation regression worsens until his spirit power falls to level 30. Yu Xiaofeng identifies the destructive gray energy and life-giving green energy fighting inside him, concluding that Old Wu is undergoing a painful rebirth rather than simply dying. 48

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Old Wu undergoes Dragon Transformation again to temper himself. Though he fears another decline in spirit power, he discovers that his remaining power has become denser and more robust. 63

Continental Wars and Dragon Awakening

Old Wu continues to serve as one of Yu Xiaofeng's strongest allies during the continent-wide conflicts. He uses green spirit power to restore Emperor Xue Ye's vitality and later helps Yu Xiaofeng confront the Star Luo Empire's coalition. 181 208

By the battle against Tang Chen and Yu Yuanzhen, Old Wu's dragon form is powerful enough to slaughter much of the opposing force almost alone. 210

Imprisonment by the Dragon Clan
