Qian Daoliu is calculating, patient, and intensely ambitious. He initially presents himself to Yu Xiaofeng as a supportive adopted grandfather, but investigates the child’s identity, monitors his movements, and weighs whether he should be kept alive or killed. 1 9 15

His interest in Yu Xiaofeng is ultimately rooted in self-interest: after learning of the Soulless Clan’s body-spirit legacy, he intends to raise Yu Xiaofeng to Level 80, kill him, and merge the Rebirth Eye into himself. 40 163 Even when facing defeat, he remains opportunistic, regretting past killings only because they cost him a potential alliance and a path to Spirit Hall’s domination. 194

History

Interest in Yu Xiaofeng

As Pope of Spirit Hall, Qian Daoliu investigates Yu Xiaofeng immediately after Bibi Dong brings the injured child to Spirit Hall. Yu Xiaofeng’s Rebirth Eye causes Qian Daoliu to show rare excitement; he calls it a Body Spirit and offers to accept Yu Xiaofeng as his student. 1

He competes with Bibi Dong for Yu Xiaofeng’s allegiance, attempting to claim him as an adopted grandson rather than merely a disciple. 2 Yu Xiaofeng distrusts him, believing Qian Daoliu to be a man willing to use any means necessary. 3

Qian Daoliu later invites Yu Xiaofeng to cultivate privately, allowing him to train in his enhanced meditation room. 8 He eventually permits Yu Xiaofeng to leave for Nuoding Academy, publicly recognizing him as his god-grandson and a member of Spirit Hall while providing money and silk gloves. 9

Surveillance and Exploitation

Despite his benevolent façade, Qian Daoliu remains suspicious of Yu Xiaofeng’s origins and unexplained techniques. He orders Ghost Douluo to monitor him and sends him to Yu Xiaogang partly to determine whether he has ties to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon family. 9 15

He elevates Yu Xiaofeng to Spirit Hall’s Holy Son and has a separate token created for him, a decision widely understood as positioning Yu Xiaofeng to become the next Pope. 18

Qian Daoliu eventually uses Yu Xiaofeng as bait in an attempt to draw out hidden enemies. Yu Xiaofeng later realizes that the attention and protection he received were not solely based on appreciation for his talent. 35

The Soulless Clan Revelation

While rescuing the captured Yu Xiaofeng from a branch hall, Qian Daoliu discovers murals documenting the Soulless Clan and the origins of Body Spirits. 39 The revelation confirms his goal: he intends to preserve Yu Xiaofeng until the latter reaches Level 80, then kill him and merge the Rebirth Eye into his own body. 40

He continues to frame this predatory plan as familial affection, calling Yu Xiaofeng his “Grandpa Qian” and promising to save him. 40

Pursuit of Godhood

Qian Daoliu later seeks divine power through Chen Hao, agreeing to help Chen Hao reach the Titled Douluo stage and monitor Tang San in exchange for a future collective spirit-ring upgrade. 63 He becomes eager to carry out Chen Hao’s orders, including suppressing Tang San. 64

His pursuit of godhood ultimately involves a deal with the Dark Demon God: Spirit Hall is to become a passage between realms in exchange for Qian Daoliu’s ascension. 195

Conflict with Yu Xiaofeng

After breaking through to Level 99, Qian Daoliu resolves to bring Yu Xiaofeng back to Spirit Hall and acquire the Rebirth Eye. 158 Yu Xiaofeng exposes Qian Daoliu’s intention to kill him for his Body Martial Soul, openly declaring that he will kill Qian Daoliu first. 163

Their confrontation erupts into a one-on-one battle in Spirit Hall Plaza. Qian Daoliu’s clone is ultimately defeated when Yu Xiaofeng risks his life to unleash the Golden Wheel Reincarnation Blast. His remains are devoured when a dark vortex opens beneath his body, establishing coordinates for the passage between realms. 196 197

True Body

Qian Daoliu’s true body later appears at the Mysterious Heaven Sect. He recognizes Yu Xiaofeng as a lower-realm visitor and confirms that the Qian Daoliu Yu Xiaofeng killed was his clone. 335

Upon learning of the clone’s death and Qian Renxue’s disappearance, the true body becomes enraged and attempts to kill Yu Xiaofeng. Dao Meimei’s intervention allows Yu Xiaofeng to escape using Shrinking Ground to Inches. 335
