Background / History
The Xuanhuang Realm was an immense world within the boundless Sea of Chaos, where countless worlds and secret realms exist. It was divided into the Human Realm, Earth Realm, and Heaven Realm; Xu Qing initially lived in its Human Realm, where the Great Zhou Martial Kingdom was merely one Human Dynasty among many. 284
It was one of the Human Race’s principal strongholds and later recognized as one of the nine Origin Worlds of the Sea of Chaos. The Human World Three Thousand Domains served as a cradle for Human Race powerhouses, while the realm’s higher-level cultivators were drawn to defend it. 308 356 390
In an earlier era, Shushan Progenitor Li Xiaoyao destroyed the Immortal Forbidden Zone after a century-long war. The victory elevated the Xuanhuang Realm to the foremost of the Nine Great Origin Worlds and earned it widespread reverence across the Sea of Chaos. 392
Structure and Fundamental Rules
- The realm was divided into three major regions:
- The three realms shared the Three Realms Battlefield, also called the Ancient Battlefield, where the Human Race, God Clan, and Deathly Ghost Race fought for countless years. 351
- The world was supported by Eleven Great Fundamental Rules. An enemy invasion began corroding these rules; their total collapse would have meant the realm’s destruction. 330 332
- Xu Qing’s sword dao initially merged into and strengthened the realm’s sword dao rules. Only after comprehending Transcendence True Intent could he cultivate a sword dao that did not become part of the Xuanhuang Realm’s rules. 333
Heavenly Dao
The realm possessed a self-aware Heavenly Dao consciousness named Xuanhuang. During the evacuation crisis, it manifested before Xu Qing and offered assistance with the migration in exchange for being brought to the new Origin World. 394
After leaving the realm, Xuanhuang merged with the Heavenly Dao of Xu Qing’s Myriad Races Great Thousand World. Xu Qing named her Little Wan, and she became his subordinate. Though separated from her original world, she retained a connection strong enough to sense the Xuanhuang Realm’s final destruction. 397
Defenders and Institutions
- Nine Great Holy Lands — the realm’s foremost Human Race sacred lands; their resources could be accessed through the Xuanhuang Jade Talisman with their masters’ approval. 375
- Shushan Sacred Land — one of the Nine Great Holy Lands and the base of Chen Wangu, its sect master. 390
- Xuanhuang Garrison City — station of the realm’s strongest Human Race guardian, Old Man Xuanhuang; it also served as an assessment ground for selected candidates. 356 357
- Three Realms Battlefield — the long-running frontline against the God Clan and Deathly Ghost Race. Entry required at least Sixth Realm cultivation. 351
- Xuanhuang Secret Realm — a cultivation site with an atmosphere resembling Heavenly Dao Space. 353
- Xuanhuang Realm Ancestral Dragon — a defensive entity summoned through the Human Emperors’ sacrifice; it killed the Fallen Celestial Venerable after Xu Qing strengthened it and prevented the immortal’s escape. 395 396
Major Events
Rule Erosion and External Threats
An enemy invasion corroded the realm’s Eleven Great Fundamental Rules, creating an existential threat. Ancient text incidents further endangered Human Dynasties and risked the loss of Human Race territory. 332
The realm endured pressure from the God Clan, Deathly Ghost Race, and forbidden-zone life forms. Chen Wangu and Old Man Xuanhuang jointly defended it against three forbidden-zone attackers, killing one of them. 381
When a True Sole Realm lightning strike descended on Xu Qing, Chen Wangu, Kunlun Daojun, and Old Man Xuanhuang attempted to stop it. They reduced it to 0.1% of its original force but were injured; afterward, they prepared to defend the realm from approaching immortals and forbidden-zone forces. 387
Temporary Recovery
Chen Wangu’s breakthrough to Will Immortal reversed a crisis facing the Xuanhuang Realm, eliminated powerful enemies, and raised the world’s status by one minor tier. 374
Purple Cloud Fairy later proved the Xuanhuang Great Dao and entered the Eighth Realm. The realm’s Heavenly Dao celebrated her breakthrough with descending Xuanhuang Qi and flowers. 389
Migration and Fall
Facing a planned assault by the Nine Great Forbidden Zones, Xu Qing proposed moving the Xuanhuang Realm’s Human Race population to his hidden Myriad Races Great Thousand World. Chen Wangu, Old Man Xuanhuang, and Kunlun Daojun accepted the plan. 394
With Xu Qing, the Human Emperors, and Xuanhuang’s Heavenly Dao accelerating the operation, nearly ninety percent of the population was transferred within half a month. The remaining population completed the evacuation after the Fallen Celestial Venerable’s defeat. 394 396
The Human Emperors sacrificed themselves to summon the Ancestral Dragon against the Fallen Celestial Venerable. After all survivors escaped, the Ancestral Dragon self-detonated to cover the retreat of the Human Race and the nine immortals of the Myriad Races Great Thousand World. 395 397
The Nine Great Forbidden Zones then refined the Xuanhuang Realm into immortal substance. Its aura vanished from the Sea of Chaos, though the Divine Beast Realm remained due to the Ancestral Dragon’s power. 397
Legacy
- Xuanhuang Continent — Xu Qing established this continent within the Myriad Races Great Thousand World as the new home of the Xuanhuang Realm’s Human Race survivors. 397
- Little Wan — the migrated Heavenly Dao consciousness of the destroyed realm, now assimilated into the Myriad Races Great Thousand World’s Heavenly Dao. 397
- The realm’s destruction left Old Man Xuanhuang, Chen Wangu, Kunlun Daojun, and other survivors mourning it and vowing revenge against the Nine Great Forbidden Zones. 397
