Background / History
Chen Wangu served as the Sect Master of Shushan Sacred Land, a position that made him one of the foremost figures in the Central Great Tang. His cultivation was considered unfathomable even by Shushan’s Grand Elders, and his reserved presence commanded the sect’s complete respect. 326 328
After Xu Qing comprehended the Grand Scripture of the Sword and obtained the Progenitor’s Legacy in the Shushan Buried Sword Mound, Chen Wangu met him at the end of the Nine-Colored Stairway. Recognizing Xu Qing’s unprecedented aptitude and affinity with Shushan, he offered to accept Xu Qing as his Personal Disciple. Xu Qing accepted after Chen Wangu promised to settle the matter with Xu Jingtian, Xu Qing’s first master. 327
Chen Wangu formalized the relationship through a Disciple Acceptance Ceremony attended by representatives of five Holy Lands. Xu Qing performed three bows and nine kowtows, received the name Sword One, and was given the Sword Dao Dojo and its Dojo Core—granting him control over the Beastman Minor World. 328 329
When the ancient-text incidents were traced to the Dark Forbidden Zone, Chen Wangu entered it alone and slew nine powerful servants. An immortal being in its depths gravely wounded him, forcing him to return to Shushan and enter seclusion. 346
After recovering and reaching Will Immortality, Chen Wangu intervened in the Three Realms Battlefield. Using the Azure Pine Sword and Chaos Azure Lotus Sword Art, he wiped out the Nine Great Armies and killed their nine leaders, including Haoyue Immortal Venerate. 372 373
He then challenged the Dark Forbidden Zone again. After fighting for a hundred years, he killed the Dark Dragon King and carried its head back to the Xuanhuang Realm. Rather than absorb the Dragon King’s Immortal Origin for himself, Chen Wangu sacrificed it to the realm, bringing forth Divine Spirit Rain that benefited its inhabitants. 373
Chen Wangu later told Xu Qing that he would pass the Shushan Sect Master position to him after one thousand years, provided Xu Qing reached the Eighth Realm; failure would mean expulsion from both Chen Wangu’s lineage and Shushan. 374 375 By the time of the True Sole Path’s later stages, Xu Qing was recognized as Shushan’s current Sect Master and Chen Wangu as its former Sect Master. 416

Personality
Chen Wangu is consistently calm and restrained, including when confronting crises involving the Supreme Imperial Dynasty, the Dark Forbidden Zone, and the Three Realms Battlefield. He avoids needless disclosure but explains matters directly when Xu Qing needs to understand the stakes. 333 346
He holds exceptionally high expectations for Xu Qing. Chen Wangu provides him with rare resources, powerful techniques, and protection, but pairs this support with severe demands—most notably the thousand-year deadline to enter the Eighth Realm. 350 375 385
His actions show a strong sense of responsibility toward the Human Race and Xuanhuang Realm. He invaded the Dark Forbidden Zone alone, personally turned the tide of the Three Realms Battlefield, and sacrificed the Dark Dragon King’s Immortal Origin for the realm’s benefit rather than claiming it for himself. 346 372 373
