Background

Qingshan presides over a declining but revered cultivation sect founded at the site where an unparalleled master once split Green Mountain in half. When his life-sworn duel with Black Tortoise Ancestor approaches, the sect fears ruin because Qingshan is still only a Martial Spirit. 4 16

Luolan Xue brings him a Martial Arts Book obtained from Yi Feng's Martial Arts Hall. Qingshan initially dismisses it, then recognizes its overwhelming Martial Intent and breaks through to Martial King. He credits Luolan Xue as a major contributor to the Qingshan Sect and resolves to personally visit the book's seller. 4 5

After hearing Luolan Xue's account, Qingshan first estimates Yi Feng to be a Martial Emperor and later concludes that he may be a Martial Ancestor. Qingshan borrows Yi Feng's cleaver to overcome the cultivation gap between himself and Black Tortoise Ancestor. He is initially forced back during their Martial King battle, but unveils the blade when faced with a decisive attack. He later admits that he could not kill Xuanwu because his intelligence was wrong and he could not fully control the weapon. 20 29 33

Conflict with Zha Tian Gang
