Silence spread.
The drizzling winter rain splashed down through the broken dome into the hall, water stains and blood mingling as they trickled slowly away.
Clad in white, Su Jingsi formed several hand seals in silence.
Silently,
flames rose within the Soul Realm vision that Qin Yi was still unable to perceive.
Su Jingsi did not know whether this was right. According to the records of the path he cultivated, the complete incineration of a soul meant erasing every trace of that person from this world. But if he did not do this, they would suffer the eternal agony brought by the Black Sun.
Before long,
the bodies of those maidservants stopped writhing.
Though Qin Yi did not know what had happened, he understood that Su Jingsi must have used some sort of art to grant those maidservants release.
However, seeing the expression on the other man's face, Qin Yi did not speak further and simply waited quietly to one side.
After a long silence, Su Jingsi finally lowered his gaze and slowly explained,
"I... burned their souls."
"Brother..." Su Nuo tugged at the young man's sleeve.
Su Jingsi turned back with a faint smile and raised a hand to ruffle his sister's hair.
"Ha, those few were merely commoners I happened to save on my way south. Granting them release this time can be considered a blessing. Nuo Nuo, what are you worrying about for your brother?"
As he spoke,
he did not give his sister a chance to reply before continuing to ask Qin Yi,
"Young Master Qin, you had the Imperial Guard armored soldiers leave. You must have discovered more than just this, correct?"
Qin Yi took it all in, nodded silently, and said,
"This aberration is contagious."
"..."
Silence.
Su Jingsi's eyes widened bit by bit.
