Background / History

Su Nuo was initially a wealthy young girl kidnapped alongside Qin Yi near Yellow Bamboo Town. Despite witnessing Qin Yi kill one of their captors, she asked to be his friend and showed little fear of him. She offered him money, boasted of her own strength, and accurately deduced his plan to disguise the killings as a Monster Calamity. 2

After Qin Yi eliminated the kidnappers, Su Nuo carried the injured boy toward Yellow Bamboo Town. She remained cheerful and talkative throughout the journey, revealing that she had quickly learned the local Shu accent. Their journey ended abruptly when a humanoid creature killed her in the forest. 3

She later reappeared as the younger sister of Great Tang's Third Prince, Su Jingsi. Qin Yi recognizes her touch and personality as unchanged from the girl who died that night, while Su Nuo herself has no apparent memory of her death. 59 61

Junyang later reveals that the original Su Nuo is dead: her current body is a Black Sun Husk assembled from the original girl's remaining spirit and flesh. The Husk retains her memories, emotions, thought patterns, affinities, and cultivation talent. However, if she recalls the moment of her death and her self-awareness becomes blurred, the portion belonging to the Year Star may take over her body. 74

Su Nuo is described as fair, tender, and doll-like, with a round face and large black eyes. As a child, she wore costly brocade despite her kidnapping; later, she favors bright, refined clothing befitting her position as a princess. 2 66 72

Her childishness does not prevent occasional insight. As a captive, she deduced Qin Yi's intentions with surprising accuracy; later, she understands details of Su Jingsi's political situation and the Yu Family's influence over his retainers. 2 76

She is deeply curious about cultivation, rituals, and sparring, though she is easily bored by serious discussion. She often treats Qin Yi as both a friend and designated sparring partner, showing concern when he is injured while also carelessly roughhousing with him. 70 72 73

Discussion of Disaster Realms can sober her immediately. Her otherwise carefree demeanor fades when Su Jingsi reveals the scale of Great Tang's crisis. 59

She re-enters the story as Princess Su Nuo, traveling with Su Jingsi. Her familiar personality and physical presence cause Qin Yi to question how she could have returned after dying. 59 61

During the Jia Yin Calamity Realm crisis, Su Nuo remains near Qin Yi and Su Jingsi. She reports ominous changes in the Living Mountain Range, helps care for Qin Yi after his injuries, and defeats him in a nonlethal spell duel. 70 72

Black Sun Husk Revelation

While Qin Yi studies rituals with her, Su Nuo's eyes change into Black Sun-like pupils when he asks about efficient Ritual Methods. Junyang subsequently explains that she is a Black Sun Husk and warns that remembering her death may allow the Year Star to overwhelm her identity. 72 74
