After leaving the compartment, Kane took an exquisite glasses case from his hat. Inside were Luna's Monster-Repelling Glasses.
"Here you go. They helped me a lot."
Luna took the glasses and put them on. "That's good."
And so, since Ginny Weasley needed to return to Hogwarts later, friendless Luna was picked up by Kane and brought back to his compartment.
Lupin had thought Kane had left the compartment to commit murder and arson or something. He had seriously worried over it for quite a while, and only relaxed once he learned Kane had gone to find a friend.
By evening, the Hogwarts Express finally pulled into Hogsmeade Station. Apparently, second-year students and above no longer needed to take boats back to Hogwarts, but carriages instead.
Come to think of it, this was Kane and the others' first time riding in a carriage. Last time, they had flown back to Hogwarts early on broomsticks, and the time before that, they had still been first-years.
Following the crowd, they found a long line of carriages parked by the woods. The carriages were spacious, and the springs beneath their wheels made for a very comfortable ride. There was only one problem...
"Uh, what ugly horses." Kane frowned as he delivered his verdict.
"They're Thestrals," Luna explained.
Harry said, "Those two have gone mad again, haven't they?"
"Maybe? They say people with matching brainwaves resonate when they're together." Ron spoke in a faint, gloomy voice as well.
Hermione, who loved studying, was clearly far better than the two of them. She had actually read about Thestrals in books. Apparently, only people who had witnessed and understood death could see them...
Thinking of that, she finally remembered something very important... she needed to ask Kane.
