The Remaining Ninety Points Were All Class Hatred

Kane casually tossed two large chunks of meat into the cauldron, then dumped in a huge pile of vegetables.

The moment to witness a miracle had arrived. Without the slightest warning, the mountain of food in the cauldron began changing shape in an utterly bizarre fashion. It shifted from solid to liquid, then finally condensed into several round, translucent lumps.

Everyone watched as color slowly spread through those translucent lumps from the inside out, turning them into the meatballs they had just put into their mouths.

"Wow... do you think this is how the house-elves make food for us in the kitchens?" Harry looked at Hagrid. After all, Kane had used a homemade stone pot and a cauldron taken from Hagrid's house to make two meals of meatballs packed with magic and seriously sketchy techniques.

This was very magical, and very sketchy.

Ron thought for a moment. "Probably not. My mum knows loads of household magic, but even she can't turn ingredients directly into meatballs like these. House-elves probably can't either."

After saying that, he fearlessly reached out and grabbed another meatball despite the heat, stuffing his cheeks as he wolfed it down.

The others immediately went after the meatballs as well, wishing they could devour every last bit of them. In the blink of an eye, they had cleaned the pot out.

The group sat in Hagrid's yard, watching him use the wand disguised as a little floral umbrella to clean the cauldron before putting it back inside. For a moment, everything felt strangely peaceful.

"Seriously, if I had your ability, Kane, my status at home would shoot straight through the roof. Ginny wouldn't even compare."

Hagrid chuckled at Ron's idea, then promptly poured cold water all over it. "Professor Snape definitely wouldn't let you off. Can you imagine making a whole pot of meatballs during Potions class? Professor Snape might turn you into a meatball."

Kane, who had been enjoying the peaceful moment, suddenly looked up. "What Potions class? What does that have to do with me?"

"You..." Ron and Hagrid stared at Kane. "You use cauldrons to brew potions, obviously. Don't tell me you didn't know that?"

Kane sat on a huge rock. They said people inevitably laughed when they were speechless.

And right then, he really did let out a fitting laugh.

When he had made those meatballs with the cauldron just now, he had not infused even the tiniest bit of shadow into them. It had been entirely a matter of instinct, like divine inspiration.

And now they were telling him that Potions class required using a pot?

"What else would it use? If Potions class didn't use pots, would they grind everything into powder and make you pressed candy tablets? Or did you not even read your acceptance letter properly?" Harry scratched his head, looking thoroughly baffled.

"Probably not. Kane is Dumbled—" Hagrid had not even finished when Kane erupted into a thunderous coughing fit.

Interrupt him! He had to interrupt him! Harry still believed he had slept under bridges and lived in rubbish bins before. If Harry found out that was completely made up, Kane's fragile sanity points would definitely plummet when Harry got angry!

"Are you all right?" Hagrid asked.

"Uh, I just remembered that I need to go to the library and find a book Professor Flitwick told me about. Harry, Ron, come with me. Hagrid, we'll be off now. Bye!"

As Kane spoke, he hurriedly grabbed Harry and Ron and made a swift escape.

As for Potions class... things would work themselves out when they got there. Maybe Professor Snape was one of those good teachers who seemed cold but actually cared deeply about his students?

Before long, the three of them reached the library. Kane showed Madam Pince, the librarian, the note Professor Flitwick had given him. Then he left Harry and Ron outside and entered the Restricted Section by himself.

Hermione also entered the library. After eating and drinking her fill, then completing two rounds of Wizard Chess tasks, it was time to read a couple of books for entertainment.

Just as she searched the vast library for something interesting and was about to touch the edge of the Restricted Section, Madam Pince used magic to block her path at precisely the right moment.

"The Restricted Section is ahead. Ordinary wizards are not allowed inside," Madam Pince reminded her quietly.

Just then, Kane emerged carrying an enormous copy of Complete Guide to Summoning Charms. He left with Harry and Ron, greeting Madam Pince and Hermione as he passed them.

"Hi, Madam Pince. Hi, Hermione."

After greeting them, the three walked off without another word and left the library.

Watching this scene, Hermione felt as though the class hierarchy of the entire magical world was crushing the breath out of her. What could she do?

She did not know, but she could not exactly kill him, could she?

Back in the Gryffindor common room, the three found a corner. Harry and Ron began playing Wizard Chess, while Kane read Complete Guide to Summoning Charms alone.

After studying for an entire morning, Kane had resigned himself to reality.

Just as one could not learn English without knowing the twenty-six letters, or chemistry without knowing the periodic table, Kane had not attended even one Transfiguration class. He had only studied sporadically for a few days in Diagon Alley.

If he could learn it under those conditions, it would be a miracle.

Fortunately, the first class that afternoon was Transfiguration. He would have plenty of time to absorb knowledge then, and he could ask Professor McGonagall questions afterward. What was not to like?

Kane imagined that once he learned summoning charms, he could wave his wand and leave no armor intact wherever the killer bees passed. A Toad army would bear down on his enemies, leaving them nothing at all.

If he ever ran into an enemy with actual stats, sooner or later he would handcraft a couple of bosses for them to taste.

Or perhaps his Shadow Blade would be just as effective.

Emmmm, speaking of Shadow Blade...

Although he could control shadows, he still needed to find more gold to upgrade the workbench and study it before he could unlock that spell.

Just like learning magic, Fire Element Affinity could not produce a Grindelwald-grade gas stove right from birth. He still needed to grow, make money, get gold, rubies, and sapphires. All of that required money.

Just then, he felt something move in his pocket. Only then did Kane realize that he had not returned Neville's Lucky yet.

Neville should be in the dormitory next door. He needed to return it quickly.

Kane jogged into the boys' dormitory, returned Lucky to Neville, then went back to the common room. But the moment he left the corridor, he ran straight into Hermione.

In her eyes were thirty percent of a friend's tenderness, thirty percent mutual appreciation for a fellow top student, and forty percent gratitude because he had helped her and Neville before the Sorting Ceremony. The remaining ninety points were all hatred for a class enemy.

Kane watched with his own eyes as Hermione instinctively took a wide detour around him after seeing him. It was as though she did not want to see him—or rather, seeing him gave her the urge to stab him, but since they were still friends, she simply stayed far away and spared his miserable life.

"Hiss..." Kane stroked his chin, curiously watching Hermione's retreating back.

"Kane, Transfiguration is about to start. What are you standing around here for?" Harry asked curiously as he looked at Kane, who was frozen at the stairway.

"Nothing. I just don't know what's gotten into Hermione, but it probably has nothing to do with me. Let's go to class."
