Background / History

Root had placed Uchiha Shisui under special observation three years before the Uchiha Clan Annihilation Plan. Its records show daily surveillance of his combat habits, chakra nature, Body Flicker Technique, and Kotoamatsukami, followed by development of a permanent suppression program designed to cripple him when he activated his Mangekyo ability 37.

The organization later expanded its attention to Lin Feng after his activity at Naka Shrine. A Root operative followed him from the shrine, and surveillance continued through the clan grounds, Forest of Death, academy, and Konoha’s civilian districts 8 17 18 21 30.

Root’s operations against the Uchiha escalated from observation to capture and experimentation. Its Awakening Project targeted awakened Uchiha, particularly Mangekyo users, using drugs to forcibly activate Sharingan genes and mass-produce ocular power 19. Root records additionally document Sharingan-suppressing drugs, neural-drug catalysis, live transplantation plans, and experimental subjects fused with Sharingan and First Hokage cells 21 23 43 50.
