After the heavenly tribulation passed, the sky cleared. Then suddenly—
"Buzz~~~~~"
A brilliant radiance rippled out from the void. Auspicious clouds stretched for thousands of miles, and dragon-horses took shape before transforming into two halos that merged into Mu Jizi and Kunpeng Patriarch. At once, the spheres of light shone as brilliantly as the sun and moon! This was the Heavenly Dao's reward for living beings who had survived the heavenly tribulation, and it aided their transformation!
"Now that it is time to transform, if not now, when?"
With two thunderous shouts, the halos dispersed, and two streams of radiant light shot into the sky. Two figures slowly emerged from within!
One wore a black robe and had black hair. He stood seven feet tall, with an aquiline nose, an eight-shaped mustache at the corners of his mouth, and the face of a middle-aged man. Bloodthirsty glints occasionally flashed in his eyes. Standing motionless in the void, he resembled an ancient ferocious beast!
The other wore white robes and had black hair. His clothing and hair drifted freely, neither tied nor bound, lightly fluttering around his suspended figure, as though a deity had descended into the world. A faint luster flowed across his skin, while a thousand glasslike gleams flickered in his eyes. Though his features were ordinary, he possessed an aura that transcended the mundane world!
"This humble Daoist is Kunpeng Patriarch. Greetings, Fellow Daoist!" Kunpeng Patriarch made a Daoist salute and bowed toward Mu Jizi in the void, a trace of amusement in his eyes!
"Hehe!" Mu Jizi could not help laughing at the sight. He returned the salute and said, "This humble Daoist is Mu Jizi. Fellow Daoist, there is no need for such formality between brothers!"
"Ha~~ Elder Brother is right!" Kunpeng Patriarch laughed loudly and nodded. "Your younger brother has become too attached to appearances!"
"Mm!" Mu Jizi nodded with a smile!
"Elder Brother, now that we have both transformed and gained immense divine abilities, there is nowhere in this vast Primordial Wilderness that we cannot go!" Kunpeng Patriarch moved, taking a single step to arrive beside Mu Jizi. "It has only been a little over three thousand years since the creation of heaven and earth. Many treasures still have no owners. Why do we not travel together through the Primordial Wilderness and seek out treasures?"
Mu Jizi pondered for a moment before nodding. "Very well. Neither of us has a suitable treasure now that we have transformed. That would be rather unreasonable. Finding some treasures for protection would be good!"
"Excellent!" Kunpeng Patriarch was overjoyed. Ever since he had gained sentience, he had wanted to travel through the Primordial Wilderness. However, Mu Jizi's true body had been a spirit of vegetation, making him difficult to move before transforming. Kunpeng Patriarch also felt it would be ungrateful to travel alone and leave behind Mu Jizi, who had shown him kindness. Thus, he had no choice but to abandon that plan...
Both were beings of great divine abilities. Once they had decided, they rode auspicious clouds toward the Primordial Wilderness!
At the beginning of creation, Pangu transformed into the Primordial Wilderness, which gradually gave rise to three races: the avian race led by the phoenix, the beast race led by the qilin, and the scaled race led by the dragon. The three races each claimed their own territories, dividing the entire Primordial Wilderness!
As chaos had only recently opened and heaven and earth had only begun to develop, there was little karma in the Primordial Wilderness. Without karma, conflict was naturally scarce. Those who had gained sentience diligently cultivated to improve their strength, while those without sentience merely breathed and absorbed spiritual energy by instinct.
For a time, birds sang amid fragrant flowers, green mountains stood beside clear waters, and lakes and great rivers harmonized together! Thus came the peaceful era of the early Primordial Wilderness!
All things possessed spirit, and wherever there were people, there would be conflict—whether for spiritual objects and fruits, magical treasures and blessed lands, or loyalty and strength! In short, as time passed, conflicts gradually arose in the tranquil Primordial Wilderness. Yet none of it had anything to do with Kunpeng Patriarch or Mu Jizi!
Time flew by in the Primordial Wilderness. In the blink of an eye, another two thousand years passed!
Over those two thousand years, Kunpeng Patriarch and Mu Jizi traveled through more than half of the Primordial Wilderness. Sometimes they rode clouds and frolicked in the void; sometimes they wandered mountain ravines and played with wild beasts; sometimes they stopped amid forests to comprehend the Dao. They lived as carefree as immortals!
Wherever the two passed during those two thousand years, it was like a swarm of locusts had swept through. Countless innate objects were gathered into their possession. Yet they obtained few true spiritual treasures, and even those few were merely auxiliary treasures. Not a single genuinely famous treasure of later ages fell into their hands!
Mu Jizi did not mind. He knew that spiritual treasures possessed spirituality and chose their own masters; if the destined opportunity had not arrived, they could not be forced!
That day, the two descended from their clouds and arrived at a mountain ravine within a forest. The ravine appeared loose and ordinary, yet its spiritual energy was strangely scarce!
At that moment, Kunpeng Patriarch took a step forward and said as he walked, "Elder Brother, you said a treasure in this place was drawing you here? I wonder what it might be?"
"Your elder brother does not know either." Mu Jizi frowned slightly. "But judging from this pull, the treasure should be extraordinary!"
Hearing this, Kunpeng Patriarch said no more and followed behind Mu Jizi toward the depths of the ravine!
After walking for half an hour, the depths of the ravine still seemed far away. Confusion appeared in Kunpeng Patriarch's eyes, while Mu Jizi also frowned slightly. For no other reason than that during the past half hour, they had been circling in place, unable to leave this area.
"Elder Brother!" Seeing this, Kunpeng Patriarch could not help calling out. "What is going on?"
"There should be an innate formation here!" Mu Jizi pondered briefly before saying, "This formation specializes solely in trapping. Its power is not great, but its ability to trap people is exceptional. Even with my cultivation as a Great Luo Golden Immortal, I still have not discerned where the formation's core lies. This shows how profound this formation is in the art of confinement!"
Innate formations were broadly divided into three types: "trapping," "killing," and "defense." Trapping formations disrupted one's path and deceived one's sight; killing formations took heads and claimed lives; defensive formations blocked attacks and protected the body!
Among the three types of formations, some were singular, some combined two types, and some supreme formations combined all three. Examples included Grand Supreme Elder Lord's Twofold Polarities Dust Formation, the Heavenly Cycle Star Formation of the Demon Race in later ages, and the Witch Race's Twelve Divine Fiendish Capital Formation. All were supreme formations that combined trapping, killing, and defense!
The formation blocking Mu Jizi and Kunpeng Patriarch was a purely trapping formation. Though it lacked defensive power and killing intent, it excelled in illusion, confusing the divine sense and ensuring that those within it could never find a way out, leaving them to be trapped to death!
Kunpeng Patriarch and Mu Jizi walked for another half hour. The formation's changes were unpredictable. They seemed to have crossed endless distances, but upon closer inspection, they were merely pacing in place without accomplishing anything!
"Elder Brother, this formation is truly profound. This Patriarch cannot walk out of it!" After walking for so long without seeing an exit, Kunpeng Patriarch's ferocious-beast nature flared up again! "How about this? Let this Patriarch use great magical power to forcibly destroy the formation!"
"Alas~~~~" Mu Jizi sighed inwardly, then grabbed Kunpeng Patriarch and said, "Do not panic, younger brother. After examining this formation for an hour, your elder brother has already understood eight or nine parts of it. Give me a little longer, and I will thoroughly understand it. Then it will be time for us brothers to leave!"
"Fine! Then I will listen to Elder Brother!" Kunpeng Patriarch nodded, though the anger on his face had only just subsided!
And so, another quarter of an hour passed!
At that moment, Mu Jizi's slightly furrowed brows suddenly rose, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his mouth!
"Big Brother! Have you found the formation core?" Kunpeng Patriarch had been watching Mu Jizi closely, and when he saw the smile on Mu Jizi's lips, he hurriedly asked!
"Yes!" Mu Jizi nodded, then took a step forward and said, "Watch how your elder brother breaks this formation!"...
