Background / History

Mu Jizi was an orphan in his previous life and a cultivation prodigy who reached the peak of Void Refinement and Dao Integration in roughly a century. During his heavenly tribulation, his physical body was lost, but his Primordial Spirit survived and transmigrated to the era shortly after the opening of heaven and earth. He awakened within a nanmu tree on a small island at the edge of the North Sea. 5

Initially isolated and uncertain whether his arrival was fortune or disaster, Mu Jizi chose to accept his circumstances and cultivate in tree form. His tree body bore nine dark-green spiritual fruits containing excess essence from his original body, though he was unable to consume them himself. 5

He encountered a young peng that sheltered upon his tree during a storm. Mu Jizi placed a cultivation method in its mind, enabling it to awaken intelligence and eventually become Kunpeng. Their relationship developed into a brotherhood, with Mu Jizi serving as Kunpeng’s elder brother, guide, and occasional restraining influence. 5 6

After transforming into human form alongside Kunpeng, Mu Jizi traveled the Primordial Wilderness in search of treasures. He broke an illusion-based trapping formation through careful analysis rather than force, acquiring the East Green Lotus Treasure-Colored Flag from its formation core. 10 11

At Mount Buzhou, a thread of Pangu’s Creation Force entered Mu Jizi and clarified his Dao. He subsequently cultivated the Dao of Creation and came to regard sainthood as his ultimate pursuit. 12 13

When demonic creatures began ravaging the Primordial Wilderness, Mu Jizi and Kunpeng left seclusion to join other cultivators in suppressing them. Mu Jizi recognized the dangers posed by resentful spirits and demonic beasts, organized cultivators against the latter, and advised the use of extreme-yang powers against them. 16 17 19

Appearance

After transformation, Mu Jizi commonly appears as a white-robed man with loose black hair and an unbound, drifting appearance. Though his facial features are described as ordinary, he carries a transcendent, otherworldly bearing. 10

  • His true form is an ancient nanmu tree, more than one hundred meters tall before his transformation. 6
  • His human form wears white robes and has black hair flowing freely around him. 10
  • A faint luster flows over his skin, while thousand-colored glazed light flickers in his eyes. 10
  • His true body possesses immense size, rooted stability, and exceptional physical strength. 25 26

Personality

Mu Jizi is patient, composed, and analytical. When trapped in an illusion formation, he prevents Kunpeng from destroying it impulsively and instead studies its mechanisms until he identifies the formation core. 10

He is protective of those he considers companions. He shelters the young peng, gives Kunpeng permission to consume the fruits of his tree body, destroys the final tribulation cloud threatening him, and later searches for Xihe and Yuehua after they fail to return from the chaos. 5 8 9 47 48

Although generally cautious, Mu Jizi can be decisive and severe when provoked. He does not hesitate to confront King Father of the East and Queen Mother of the West, nor to battle Zhunti and Jieyin after they obstruct him in the chaos. 44 49

Abilities & Skills

Dao of Creation

Mu Jizi cultivates the Dao of Creation, a path associated with vitality and strengthened by the thread of Creation Force he receives at Mount Buzhou. 12 17

  • Can use his cultivation to forcibly erase extreme-yin resentful spirits when ordinary spells cannot harm them. 17
  • His comprehension of Creation Force clarifies his Dao, though he distinguishes his own Dao of Creation from the higher Creation Law explained by Hongjun. 12 46
  • His martial strikes can carry a trace of the essence of his innate tree body. 44

Space Lock

Space Lock is Mu Jizi’s innate divine ability, derived from his ancient nanmu true form. It establishes a spatial domain spanning roughly one million li. 26

  • Opponents within the domain suffer reductions to their speed and strength. 26
  • Against a peak Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal such as Kunpeng, it reduces performance by nearly two-tenths. 26
  • Mu Jizi’s own speed and strength remain unaffected inside the domain. 26
  • In chaos, the ability temporarily calms chaotic currents and allows him to draw upon a trace of Space Law, increasing his effective power. 45 46
  • Its restraint weakens against opponents of greater cultivation and strength. 26

True-Form Combat

Mu Jizi’s nanmu true form is his greatest source of raw physical power and stability. 25

  • He shattered the final cloud of Kunpeng’s Nine-Nine Golden Immortal Heavenly Tribulation by piercing it with his true body. 9
  • He can anchor himself against Kunpeng’s Devouring ability by transforming into his massive tree form. 26
  • His strength exceeds Kunpeng’s, though he acknowledges that Kunpeng surpasses him in speed. 25
  • He destroyed Zhunti’s Seven-Treasure Wondrous Tree with a finger strike enhanced by the advantage of superior cultivation and their shared nature as innate vegetation spirits. 44

Formation Comprehension

Mu Jizi possesses strong insight into formations and illusions. 10 11

  • Analyzed an illusion trapping formation rather than attacking it directly. 10
  • Located its formation core and broke the formation through hand seals. 10 11
  • Helped Kunpeng overcome the heart demon induced by the illusion array surrounding the Northern Profound Yuan Water-Control Flag. 13

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • East Green Lotus Treasure-Colored Flag — Obtained after Mu Jizi broke the illusion formation that concealed it. 11
  • Northern Profound Yuan Water-Control Flag — Obtained with Kunpeng after they dispelled its illusion array at Mount Buzhou. 13
  • Two Five Direction Flags — Used with Kunpeng to protect himself, Xihe, and Yuehua while traveling through chaos. 37 43

Relationships

  • Kunpeng — Younger brother, companion, and former sheltered peng. Mu Jizi enlightened him with a cultivation method, guides his cultivation, and regularly tempers Kunpeng’s impulsiveness. 5 6 10 18
  • Xihe — Ally whom Mu Jizi and Kunpeng rescue from King Father of the East and Queen Mother of the West; Mu Jizi later seeks her after she disappears in the chaos. 33 43 47 48
  • Yuehua — Xihe’s younger sister and an ally protected alongside Xihe during travel through chaos. 33 43 47
  • Hongjun — Revered as Mu Jizi’s teacher after Mu Jizi enters Purple Cloud Palace. Hongjun explains Rule Power, Space Law, and the limits of Mu Jizi’s use of Space Lock. 45 46
  • Zhunti and Jieyin — Western Realm cultivators who obstruct Mu Jizi in the chaos. He severely injures Zhunti and forces Jieyin’s retreat before Hongjun’s transmission stops him from pursuing them. 43 44 45
  • King Father of the East and Queen Mother of the West — Opponents defeated after their conflicts with Xihe and Yuehua; Mu Jizi and Kunpeng later punish their arrogance at Mount Fangzhu. 33 48 49
