Yuan Tian soon stopped fretting over Transformation. From the inheritance that had originally belonged to Green Willow, he found the answer. The reason Green Willow had not undergone Transformation in the Primordial Wilderness of his previous life was not because it had reached the level of a Creation-grade Innate Spirit Root and thus could not transform. Rather, when Green Willow had helped Pangu split Creation, its newly born consciousness had dissipated. That was why Green Willow could receive one-third of the Creation-Splitting Merit. As one of the Ten Great Innate Spirit Roots, Green Willow already found Transformation exceedingly difficult; producing consciousness was harder still. Green Willow had originally developed consciousness, but it dissipated while supporting the heavens. Even with the aid of Creation-Splitting Merit, for one of the Ten Great Innate Spirit Roots to produce consciousness a second time, it would have to wait until after an Infinite Kalpa. But if Green Willow produced consciousness again, then with the help of Creation-Splitting Merit, it could undergo Transformation as long as it possessed cultivation at the Great Luo Realm. Yuan Tian became delighted once more. Although Green Willow had not produced consciousness again, had he not been reborn into Green Willow? Was that not equivalent to Green Willow's consciousness? Did that not mean he only needed to cultivate to the Great Luo Realm to undergo Transformation? How could Green Willow not be happy?
All Yuan Tian needed to do now was cultivate—and cultivate with all haste. This was the era of the Primordial Wilderness. Although there were still less than ten thousand years until Creation was split, and 99.999... percent of the famous experts of later generations had yet to undergo Transformation, Yuan Tian was different from them. He was a Spiritual Root. Even though he was one of the Ten Great Innate Spirit Roots, that could not change one of the traits Spiritual Roots possessed before Transformation: they could not move. If Yuan Tian had not known that an innate concealment formation stood before him, protecting him, he would have had to cultivate with his heart in his throat again. He had no choice but to be afraid. Unable to move, if any Immortal Level being or above came along, then no matter how tough his body was, he would be injured even if he did not die.
Therefore, Yuan Tian's most urgent task was cultivation. But before cultivating, there was still one thing he needed to do: find a cultivation method suited to himself. Without a cultivation method, what was there to cultivate?
Although Yuan Tian had possessed countless cultivation methods across his ten lives, including no shortage of peerless ones, the best and most suitable cultivation method was still one he created himself.
Yuan Tian's previous lives had truly seen every kind of cultivation method under heaven, and what he himself cultivated were also top-tier methods. The entire Primordial Wilderness was now crossing the river by feeling for stones.
But while others had no systematic cultivation methods, Yuan Tian did. As a cultivator from later generations, Yuan Tian possessed countless systematic cultivation methods. Yuan Tian carefully recalled every cultivation method he knew. Creating a cultivation method was truly no easy task. Yuan Tian spent a full million years, with the help of the Great Dao Secret Record, to create a peerless cultivation method based on the specific circumstances of his current body. This was merely its initial creation, however. After all, peerless cultivation methods were not so easily created. Even with Yuan Tian's supreme experience, the method he created was only enough for his present stage of cultivation.
The cultivation method Yuan Tian created was called the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art. It had been adapted and fused from the sect-protecting divine arts and clan-defending cultivation methods of top sects and races such as the Mystic Sect, Buddhist Sect, Demon Race, Witch Clan, and Devil Race. It could be said to gather all profound arts under heaven into Great Accomplishment and possessed boundless might. Cultivating the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art required an enormous amount of mana. It could be said that the mana required to cultivate the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art was a hundred times that of others at the same realm.
Naturally, the benefit was that one who cultivated the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art could be called invincible within the same realm. With a hundred times the mana of those at the same realm, he could even kill opponents above his level. The Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art consisted of five sections: the cultivation section, alchemy section, artifact-refining section, divine abilities section, and miscellaneous records section. For now, let us look at the cultivation section. Under normal circumstances, when people spoke of the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art, they meant the cultivation section.
The cultivation section of the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art cultivated the soul, Primordial Spirit, and physical body as a trinity, all at once. Once cultivation succeeded, the physical body would be deathless, the Primordial Spirit indestructible, and the soul eternal.
The Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art contained nine turns, divided into Nine Soul Turns, Nine Primordial-Spirit Turns, and Nine Physical-Body Turns. The three respectively cultivated the soul, Primordial Spirit, and physical body. They were connected yet distinct. As long as one of the three achieved a breakthrough, it could drive the other two to break through faster—mysterious beyond mystery.
Everyone had a soul; it was the root of a person. Once the soul left the body, the person died. So long as a person's soul remained undying, they could enter reincarnation and be reborn. But once a person's soul perished, they would disappear completely from the universe. The Primordial Spirit differed from the soul. Not everyone possessed one—or rather, not everyone was born with one. A Primordial Spirit was produced once a person's cultivation reached a certain level. The Primordial Spirit could be called spirit, or the sublimated form of spirit. Among its many functions was one that protected the soul. It could be said that the Primordial Spirit was the soul's shell. The physical body, meanwhile, was the outermost shell of the Primordial Spirit and soul, serving to protect them both.
The Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art had two benefits. First, it required no particular cultivation posture. In other words, one could cultivate directly while standing, lying down, or sitting; there was no need to sit cross-legged as with other cultivation methods. Second, one need not fear interruption while cultivating the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art. This could be said to be a common advantage of peerless cultivation methods.
Although the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art contained nine turns, Yuan Tian had currently created only its first four turns. Cultivating to the fourth turn would allow one to reach the Great Luo Realm. After all, the highest cultivation Yuan Tian had attained across his ten lives was only that of a Daluo Golden Immortal. As for the later portions of the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art, even with other cultivation methods as references, they were not so easily created. The further one progressed in cultivation, the greater the gaps became. The later methods Yuan Tian wished to create would therefore become increasingly difficult. Thus, Yuan Tian had only deduced part of the fifth turn of the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art. By his estimate, completely creating the fifth turn would require at least hundreds of millions of years. Of course, Yuan Tian did not need to consider that now. To undergo Transformation, he only needed to reach the Great Luo Realm—that was, the fourth turn of the Ninefold Soul-Origin Mystic Art.
