Great Dao Secret Record

Yuan Tian was deeply troubled by his inability to take human form. Before he knew it, he had sunk his mind into his Primordial Spirit. Suddenly, his heart jolted. He had found the culprit behind his transmigration: the book that had emerged from the black hole. It now lay quietly within his Primordial Spirit. Seeing that book, Yuan Tian wanted nothing more than to eat its flesh and drink its blood—assuming it even had flesh and blood. The book did not care what Yuan Tian thought. It simply lay quietly within his Primordial Spirit.

Yuan Tian had no way of dealing with the book for now. Its cover glowed golden, and four words were written upon it: Great Dao Secret Record. Although Yuan Tian did not recognize those characters, his Divine Sense told him that they meant Great Dao Secret Record. The script gave off a mysterious, sacred, profound feeling, and Yuan Tian unconsciously extended his Divine Sense toward the book.

The instant Yuan Tian's Divine Sense touched the book, an enormous flood of information surged into him. It came too suddenly and too quickly. Before Yuan Tian could react, the transmission was already complete.

By the time Yuan Tian finally absorbed the contents of that information, he understood the book's origins.

The book was indeed called the Great Dao Secret Record. It was a Fortune Supreme Treasure under the Great Dao, neither Acquired nor Innate, neither within the five elements of Primordial Chaos. It possessed neither offensive nor defensive power, but it had three functions. First, it recorded all matters and objects between Heaven and Earth that it knew of. It contained strange tales and unusual events from throughout Heaven and Earth, covering nearly everything. Second, the Great Dao Secret Record contained a world filled with boundless Primordial Chaos qi. Finally, it could suppress fortune, ensuring that its owner's fortune would not scatter. In terms of suppressing fortune alone, the Great Dao Secret Record was unquestionably the foremost Supreme Treasure. Thus, it was also known as a Fortune Supreme Treasure.

After learning about the Great Dao Secret Record, Yuan Tian no longer felt any hatred toward it. This was a Fortune Supreme Treasure! It could be considered one of the finest treasures in the entire Primordial Wilderness. By a fortunate coincidence, it had fallen into his hands and even become his own accompanying Spirit Treasure, one he could use directly without refining. How could Yuan Tian possibly still hate the Great Dao Secret Record? He was too delighted for that.

This also explained why the Great Dao Secret Record had appeared on Earth. After the Primordial Wilderness shattered, it was divided into countless regions: the Four Divine Continents—Eastern Victory Divine Continent, Western Ox He Continent, Southern Jambudvipa Continent, and Northern Kuru Continent—as well as three thousand minor worlds. The Great Dao Secret Record appeared at random within those minor worlds to record information about them. This time, it had gone to Earth to gather information. Just after emerging from the black hole, it happened to encounter Yuan Tian while he was cultivating, and it ended up transmigrating with him into the Primordial World.

If the Great Dao Secret Record possessed intelligence, it would surely hate Yuan Tian to death. As the saying went, a good dog did not block the road. You were a perfectly fine person, so why were you blocking the way? Fine, you died, but you even dragged me along to transmigrate into the Primordial World. Speaking of the Great Dao Secret Record, one had to mention Dharmic treasures. And speaking of Dharmic treasures, one had to discuss their grades.

Dharmic treasures could be divided into three categories: Mortal Treasures, Spirit Treasures, and Supreme Treasures.

Most Mortal Treasures were refined and used by those who had not yet become immortals. They could be divided into Dharmic Instruments, Treasure Instruments, and Spirit Instruments. Only above Spirit Instruments did one reach the level of Spirit Treasures. Mortal Treasures were relatively weak, of course, when compared to immortal treasures. But to mortals, they were divine weapons and sharp artifacts.

Spirit Treasures all possessed spirituality. After acknowledging an owner, they could be stored within the body. Spirit Treasures could further be divided into Acquired Spirit Treasures and Innate Spirit Treasures, while each category was divided into four grades: low, middle, high, and supreme. Thus, there were two categories and eight grades in total.

Innate Spirit Treasures were naturally nurtured by the Great Dao from the moment Pangu began opening Heaven until he completed it. Acquired Spirit Treasures were naturally formed or artificially refined after Pangu opened Heaven. It was not necessarily true that Innate Spirit Treasures were stronger and Acquired Spirit Treasures weaker; different Spirit Treasures possessed different powers, and an Acquired Spirit Treasure could very well be stronger than an Innate Spirit Treasure. Although Innate Spirit Treasures were not necessarily more powerful than Acquired Spirit Treasures, they had one advantage: they contained Great Dao Laws. By obtaining an Innate Spirit Treasure, one could use it to comprehend the Great Dao Laws within it, something Acquired Spirit Treasures lacked. Furthermore, Innate Spirit Treasures were not easily destroyed. As long as one was not completely destroyed, it could eventually recover; only the length of time required differed. This was another point Acquired Spirit Treasures could not match.

Supreme Treasures could be considered enhanced versions of Spirit Treasures. They were likewise divided into Acquired Supreme Treasures and Innate Supreme Treasures. Every Supreme Treasure possessed incomparable power, and more importantly, every Innate Supreme Treasure could suppress its owner's fortune. The only difference lay in the effectiveness of that suppression.

Besides the classifications above, there were also several other kinds of Dharmic treasures.

For example, Merit Treasures, Destiny-Responsive Treasures, and Fortune Treasures. Merit Treasures were created by infusing merit into a Dharmic treasure to increase its power, and they could also suppress one's fortune. Well-known Merit Treasures included Heaven and Earth's Mystic Yellow Exquisite Pagoda, the Primordial Measuring Ruler, and others. A famous Destiny-Responsive Treasure was the Kongtong Seal, which was born in response to the rise of the Human Clan. Fortune Treasures were the rarest category of all. As far as Yuan Tian knew, the Great Dao Secret Record was the only Fortune Treasure.

The Great Dao Secret Record might have possessed neither offensive nor defensive power, but were there not plenty of Dharmic treasures in the Primordial Wilderness that did? Why would he need that one?

The Great Dao Secret Record recorded all the information it knew, including cultivation methods and, naturally, information about Dharmic treasures—information on when treasures would emerge. With knowledge of treasures appearing, why would he need to fear lacking treasures? As the saying went, "A hooligan is not scary; a cultured hooligan is." Ah, no, that was not right. It should be, "Knowledge is the primary productive force of technology." Only with knowledge could one obtain everything else, because ignorance was the most terrifying thing of all. With the Great Dao Secret Record, did that not mean possessing countless Spirit Treasures? Yuan Tian seemed to see countless Spirit Treasures flying toward him.

As for the Great Dao Secret Record's second function, its world-space, Yuan Tian had not yet figured out how to use it. Still, it was a whole world. Yuan Tian had a feeling that this world would definitely be useful to him in the future, so he could set that function aside for now. Of course, even if he did not want to set it aside, he had no choice.

The third function was suppressing one's own fortune. This function was excellent. Throughout the entire Primordial Wilderness, there were definitely fewer than twenty treasures capable of suppressing fortune, and their effects varied. Since the Great Dao Secret Record had been classified as a Fortune Supreme Treasure, its ability to suppress fortune was undoubtedly among the best. There was no question about it.

Of course, no matter how happy Yuan Tian was right now, it was useless, because he still had not taken human form. Everything would have to wait until after he transformed. Thus, Yuan Tian once again became troubled over taking human form.
