After returning home, Su Yu discovered that his aunt-in-law had sent him a friend request. Then, she added him to the family group chat. Right afterward, he received a whole string of friend requests, and more than a dozen people suddenly appeared in his previously sparse contact list.

Gu Lin really had a lot of relatives... Was this the eldest cousin or the second cousin?

And this one... Su Yu opened the profile and took a look. A girl... Which uncle's child was this?

He couldn't recognize any of them.

In the end, Su Yu gave up. Whatever nickname they used in the group chat was what he saved them as.

After washing up, Su Yu played games for a while before getting ready for bed. But just before putting down his phone, Lu Heyun messaged him to ask whether he was asleep.

[Su Yu: Not yet. What is it?]

[Lu Heyun: Are you free on Wednesday? I have a piano competition that day. May I invite you to be my audience?]

Su Yu had time every day. He was practically bored to death at home; as long as he could go out, he did not care what he did.

He should be allowed to go out, right? It was not like he was moving back into the apartment.

Whatever. Gu Lin did not usually care what he did anyway.

After thinking it over, Su Yu replied: Of course. But I don't have an artistic bone in my body. I don't know anything at all about the piano.

[Lu Heyun: That's okay. If you can come, I'll be very happy, and I'll feel more confident in the competition too.]

Lu Heyun really knew how to speak. No matter how he looked at those words, they made him feel good, as though he were especially important.

A friend had to be supported.

[Lu Heyun: I'll pick you up then.]

[Su Yu: No need to trouble yourself. Send me the address, and my driver will take me there.]

After ending the conversation, Su Yu felt a little thirsty, so he went downstairs to get himself a glass of water. But when he was heading back upstairs, he saw Gu Lin coming out of the study with an extremely unpleasant expression. When Gu Lin looked at him, it was as though he were scrutinizing a heinous criminal.

Gu Lin said, "Since we still look like a married couple to outsiders, you should keep your distance from other people."

Hearing that, Su Yu found Gu Lin even more baffling.

Sure enough, Gu Lin felt that he had still thought too highly of Su Yu. He had assumed that a little hint would be enough for Su Yu to understand, but Su Yu had taken it somewhere else entirely.

Su Yu had never been an obedient person since childhood. The more others did not want him to do something, the more he insisted on doing it. The more they tried to control him, the more he refused to be controlled. Gu Lin wanted him to keep his distance from Lu Heyun? Not a chance.

Though Su Yu's expression remained as calm as ever, inwardly, he was unleashing a furious torrent of complaints at Gu Lin.

Forget it. There was no reasoning with him. There was no need to waste any more words or time.

Besides, Su Yu was incredibly noisy. Gu Lin said one sentence, and Su Yu could retort with more than ten.

Luckily, he was mute. Otherwise, who knew how noisy he would be every day.

The Alpha snorted coldly. "Unreasonable."

With that, he turned and left, leaving Su Yu with a face full of confusion.

Gu Lin was temperamental every day anyway, so Su Yu did not dwell on it and turned to enter his room.

Lu Heyun's competition was held at seven thirty on Wednesday evening. Contrary to usual, Gu Lin did not go to the company and instead stayed home all day. Su Yu found that completely unscientific.

Normally, he should have spent the whole day at the company and returned after nine in the evening. Earlier than that, he had not even come home at all.

At six in the evening, the two sat at the dining table eating dinner. Neither said anything, and the table was as quiet as ever.

Suddenly, the phone Su Yu had placed on the table chimed with a WeChat notification.

Su Yu glanced at Gu Lin. Seeing that he was not paying attention, he freed a hand to unlock his phone and check the message. It was from Lu Heyun.

[Lu Heyun: Have you left yet?]

Su Yu was just about to reply when Gu Lin suddenly raised his eyes and looked at him. "Don't play with your phone while eating."

Su Yu hurriedly pulled his hand back and lowered his head to eat.

But inwardly, he was unwilling and could not help complaining: He really controls too much.

As Su Yu ate, he thought about how he was going to get out later. If Gu Lin kept watching him, he did not know whether he would be able to make it to Lu Heyun's performance.

Gu Lin would not be so bored that he would keep watching him, would he?

However, Su Yu realized that he seemed to have been wrong. After dinner, Gu Lin neither went out nor entered the study. Instead, he sat on the sofa reading a magazine.

That left Su Yu unable to figure him out. He did not know whether Gu Lin was watching him or whether he genuinely had nothing to do.

Still, Su Yu ignored him. He went upstairs to get ready, then prepared to leave. Lu Heyun's competition was in the city center, some distance from here. If he did not leave now, he really might not make it in time.

When he reached the entrance, the Alpha behind him suddenly asked in a deep voice:

"Where are you going?"

Su Yu turned around. When Gu Lin questioned him, his gaze did not even fall on Su Yu, as though he had no need to hear an explanation. Even so, Su Yu explained with hand gestures. The aunt beside him relayed, "Madam says he's going to watch a friend's performance. He's running out of time."

Only then did Gu Lin slowly put down the magazine in his hand. He glanced at Su Yu and said, "The driver took leave to go home today."

[What a coincidence?]

So coincidental that Su Yu could not help feeling as though Gu Lin were deliberately making things difficult for him.

Gu Lin deliberately asked, "What, do you really want to go?"

The Omega nodded.

"I'll take you. I might as well see what your friend is like."
