Background / History

Within one year of Ye Yu's return to Great Yan, Ye Xuan displaced him in the affections of several imperial princesses and became the dynasty's favored imperial prince. He framed Ye Yu by placing a Blood Demon Heart-Losing Pill in Ye Yu's medicine, then presented himself as Ye Yu's defender while the royal family accepted the accusation that Ye Yu cultivated demonic arts. Ye Yu surrendered his Crown Prince Token to him. 1

Ye Xuan's reputation grew during the Ascending Heaven Staircase trial, where he reached the 800th step. Ye Fan openly praised him as Great Yan's future, though Ye Yu later matched and surpassed the achievement. 41 During the War of a Hundred Dynasties, Ye Xuan inherited the Sword King's Legacy and condensed a Heavenly Initiation Nascent Soul; Great Yan subsequently led the initial points ranking with 590,000 points. 73 80 83

After taking the throne, Ye Xuan imprisoned Ye Qingwan, Ye Qingshuang, and another sister, planning to send two of them to Great Zhou after the war. He explicitly said that he had learned such ruthlessness from the way they had treated Ye Yu. 60

The Nine Spirits Sword Sect recruited Ye Xuan after the Sword King's Legacy chose him.
