Ch. 694A War Hanging in the Balance!

Ancestor Hanla planned to send an unfamiliar Upper Ancestor Grade warrior to kill Merlin, while Mage Santo and the Legendary Mages decided to deploy Merlin aggressively under heavy protection. After the others left, Santo kept Merlin behind to discuss hidden safeguards against Hanla’s attempts to assassinate him.

  • Niske admitted he could not guarantee killing Merlin, so Ancestor Hanla decided to summon an Upper Ancestor Grade warrior the Spellcasters had not seen before.
  • Mage Santo praised Merlin and Mage Yasuto for killing sixteen Rock Clan warriors, and the Legendary Mages debated whether Merlin should fight or be kept away from the front.
  • Fear Monarch recommended that Merlin continue fighting with Titled Legends accompanying him and the Monarchs protecting him from the shadows.
  • Merlin agreed to follow the leaders’ arrangements, and Mage Santo ordered a team to keep Merlin moving and rescue him if the Rock Clan trapped him.
  • After the other Great Legendaries left, Mage Santo told Merlin that Hanla would target him and that they needed secret safeguards beyond the visible protection.

Ch. 696An incarnation!

Merlin received a secret Earth Incarnation of Mage Santo for protection, then returned to the White Extreme Plane to practice fusing Mage’s Hearts in the Illusory World. After more than half a year of quiet, Progenitor Hanla summoned Voidrock to deal with the Spellcasters’ Mental Power Users.

  • Mage Santo hid an Earth Incarnation in Merlin’s spatial ring and warned him to keep it secret.
  • Merlin discussed the strengths of Mental Power Users with Ditas and continued to prioritize improving his Spellcaster strength.
  • Merlin entered the Illusory World and began simulating the fusion of his Wind Mage’s Heart with his Two-Element Mage’s Heart.
  • After more than half a year without fighting, Progenitor Hanla summoned Voidrock to the front lines.
  • Progenitor Hanla told Voidrock that a Mental Power User, rather than a top-tier Monarch, had changed the situation.

Ch. 697Strongest Prodigy!

Ancestor Hanla sent Voidrock to secretly join an ordinary squad and wait for a chance to kill Merlin, whose illusions had helped the Spellcasters destroy an Ancestral Form. Meanwhile, Merlin fused his Wind and Ice Mage’s Hearts, gaining a Four-Element Mage’s Heart and preparing to pursue even greater power.

  • Ancestor Hanla told Voidrock that Merlin’s illusions had helped the Spellcasters destroy an Ancestral Form and kill sixteen Ancestor Grade Rock Clan members.
  • Voidrock vowed to kill Merlin, and Ancestor Hanla ordered him to conceal his identity among an ordinary Rock Clan squad until an opportunity arose.
  • After extensive Illusory World simulations, Merlin began fusing the Wind Mage’s Heart with his Two-Element Mage’s Heart.
  • Merlin successfully formed a Three-Element Mage’s Heart, then accelerated its fusion with the unstable Ice Mage’s Heart before it could collapse.
  • Merlin completed the Four-Element Mage’s Heart and realized its power could rival Great Legendaries who had condensed two Laws.

Ch. 698Battle Again!

Merlin joined the spellcasters as the Rock Clan launched another major attack, and he worked with Legendary Rahe to destroy an Ancestral Form. After retreating, Merlin sensed an unexplained threat despite Rahe’s assurance that no one nearby could have endangered him.

  • Merlin received Legendary Zado’s message that the Rock Clan was advancing and went to Santo Castle.
  • Santo named Merlin the key to countering the Rock Clan’s Ancestral Forms and assigned Legendary Rahe to protect and assist him.
  • The spellcasters and Rock Clan clashed inside the Rune Formation, where the Rock Clan’s Ancestral Forms pressed the spellcasters and killed three Great Legendaries within hours.
  • Merlin enveloped an Ancestral Form in his illusory world, allowing Rahe to strike it with his laws until it cracked and collapsed.
  • Merlin and Rahe withdrew as the Ancestral Form fell, but Merlin sensed an intense threat that Rahe could not identify.

Ch. 699Voidrock Takes Action!

Merlin and Rahe attacked another Ancestral Form, but the Rock Clan’s hidden powerhouse Voidrock emerged and killed Rahe while targeting Merlin. The chapter ended with Voidrock closing in as Merlin remained calm and allies rushed to save him.

  • Merlin recovered his mental power and decided to destroy more Ancestral Forms with Rahe.
  • Merlin trapped a powerful Ancestral Form in Illusory World while Rahe struck it with Supreme Law.
  • Voidrock revealed his Great Monarch-level power and crushed Rahe, killing the first Titled Legend of the War of Civilizations.
  • Voidrock emerged from the collapsing Ancestral Form and moved to kill Merlin as Blackfire Monarch and other spell casters rushed toward them.

Ch. 700The War Ends!

Merlin returned to battle and helped the Spellcaster Civilization break the Rock Clan’s will to fight, bringing the War of Civilizations to an end. The Rock Clan withdrew to its Planes, and Merlin finally had a chance to rest.

  • Santo’s avatar stopped Voidrock from killing Merlin and carried him back to the Spellcaster camp.
  • Five days later, Merlin teamed up with Yasuto Legendary and destroyed three ordinary Rock Clan Ancestral Forms at once.
  • The destruction of the Ancestral Forms shattered the Rock Clan’s morale, and Hanla Ancestor admitted defeat.
  • Santo warned Hanla that the Spellcasters would defend themselves if the Rock Clan started another war, and Hanla led his people back to the Rock Clan Plane.
  • Spellcaster Great Legends praised Merlin’s Mental Power, while Merlin relaxed as the war ended.

Ch. 702Return to the Land of Glory (Part One)

After the war, Merlin asked Santo to send him back to the Land of Glory, and Santo explained why it had been sealed and what danger the Light Church posed. Santo agreed to send Merlin alone, tasking him with destroying the Light Church, and then set off with him for the Land of Glory.

  • Santo invited Merlin to name a reward for his contributions to the war, and Merlin asked to return to the Land of Glory.
  • Santo sent the Blackfire Monarch away and told Merlin that the three Arcane Mages had sealed the Land of Glory after the Atlan Civilization damaged it and the Light God Lord escaped to establish the Light Pantheon.
  • Santo agreed to send Merlin back but refused to let Didimos accompany him because the Black Cat's powerful life force could damage the seal.
  • Santo tasked Merlin with destroying the Light Church, explaining that the seal limited the Light God Lord's influence and that Merlin could handle the threat.
  • Santo warned Merlin that he could not bring Legendary Zado's Law Incarnation, and Merlin sent it away after thanking his mentor.
  • Santo put away his castle and flew with Merlin into the Void Realm toward the Land of Glory.

Ch. 703Returning (Part Two)

Merlin returned to the Land of Glory by crossing the golden seal with Santo the Arcane Mage’s help. He left the Void Realm determined to destroy the Light Church.

  • Merlin and Santo the Arcane Mage discovered the Land of Glory beneath a vast golden waterfall and river.
  • Santo the Arcane Mage explained that the golden light was power used by Supreme Existences to communicate with the Rules and that the three Arcane Mages had created the seal.
  • Santo the Arcane Mage opened a passage through his section of the seal and reminded Merlin to destroy the Light Church.
  • Merlin crossed the golden river and flew into the Land of Glory through the white mist.

Ch. 704The Three-Headed Monster

Merlin traveled across the frozen Triangle River toward Icebound City when a powerful three-headed monster burst through the ice and attacked. After protecting Old Kans, Merlin prepared to subdue the beast so he could attempt to comprehend the Illusion Heart Realm.

  • Old Kans drove Merlin toward Icebound City and, at Merlin's request, took the carriage across the frozen Triangle River.
  • Merlin practiced spell fusion in the Illusory World but remained unable to confidently fuse darkness-type or thunder-type spells.
  • Cracks spread across the river ice as a three-headed monster emerged, and Merlin flew Old Kans and the carriage safely back to shore.
  • The monster attacked Merlin with a violent gale, which Merlin crushed with an enormous spell-formed palm.
  • Ditas urged Merlin to control the monster to help him comprehend the Illusion Heart Realm, and Merlin cast an enormous fiery net over it.

Ch. 705Icebound City!

Merlin subdued a three-headed monster and rode it toward Icebound City after Old Kans pointed him north. In the city, Dark Spirit Domain's Mage Xing Luo faced rising threats from rival forces when the Three-Headed Demon Dragon flew toward Icebound City.

  • Merlin failed to implant his will into the three-headed monster through illusion, then forced it to submit by tightening his spell net.
  • Merlin rode the obedient monster to shore, told Old Kans to leave with the Elemental Crystals, and set off north toward Icebound City.
  • Old Kans realized how powerful Merlin was, repaired his carriage, and headed home.
  • Spellcasters reported rival factions' advances to Mage Xing Luo, who decided that Ice and Snow City and Blood Lion Tower were the most urgent threats.
  • An Eighth-level Mage rushed into the hall and warned Mage Xing Luo that the Three-Headed Demon Dragon was flying toward Icebound City.

Ch. 707Returned!

A Three-Headed Demon Dragon threatened to destroy Icebound City, forcing Mage Xing Luo and the Dark Spirit Domain Spellcasters to flee. Merlin returned after decades atop the dragon, revealed he could control it, and reunited with Xing Luo.

  • Mage Xing Luo ordered the Dark Spirit Domain Spellcasters to evacuate Icebound City because its Rune Formation could not stop the approaching Three-Headed Demon Dragon.
  • The Three-Headed Demon Dragon pursued Xing Luo and the fleeing Spellcasters, and three Seventh-level Mages moved to protect him.
  • Merlin appeared atop the demon dragon and greeted Mage Xing Luo, who recognized him as the Dark Spirit Domain's former First Elder.
  • Merlin ordered the Three-Headed Demon Dragon to wait outside and leave Icebound City undamaged, and it obediently lay down.

Ch. 709The Spellcaster World's Situation!

Merlin learned from Spellcaster Xing Luo how the Spellcaster World had changed, including Klais’s rise in Osum and the Light Church’s growing war against the Black Moon Kingdom. After the Three-Headed Demon Dragon frightened the crowds in Icebound City, Merlin left with Spellcaster Xing Luo to visit the Wilson Family.

  • Spellcaster Xing Luo told Merlin that the Dark Spirit Domain had risen on the Icebound Snowfield and was competing with the Blood Lion Tower and Ice and Snow Fortress.
  • Spellcaster Xing Luo explained that Osum had destroyed the Southern Spellcaster World’s three major organizations and was now overpowering the Northern Spellcaster World, largely because Klais had become a formidable Great Mage.
  • Merlin learned that the Light Church controlled the Holy Light Empire and was waging a war against heretics that the Black Moon Kingdom struggled to resist.
  • The Three-Headed Demon Dragon scattered curious Spellcasters who approached it, then calmed down when Merlin arrived.
  • Merlin mounted the Three-Headed Demon Dragon and followed Spellcaster Xing Luo to visit the Wilson Family in Icebound City.

Ch. 710Loneliness

Merlin returned to Wilson Castle and reunited with Shirley and Old Wilson, only to find that time had aged them and taken Avril. Feeling estranged from his many descendants, he left the castle grounds trapped in Rune Formations by a woman in a mage's robe.

  • Merlin arrived at Wilson Castle with Xing Luo, where the Heavy Armored Knights confronted the Three-Headed Demon Dragon, which blew them away.
  • Merlin recognized a young Spellcaster who resembled him as a likely descendant, then flew into the castle after noticing someone watching him.
  • Merlin reunited with Shirley, learned that Avril had died thirteen years earlier, and promised Shirley that they would return to the Bright Kingdom.
  • Merlin spoke with Old Wilson, who asked to return to Blackwater City, and Merlin promised to take the family back soon.
  • Merlin visited his descendants but felt no connection to them, then found himself trapped by Rune Formations as a woman confronted him.

Ch. 711Unification (Part One)

Merlin returned to Wilson Castle, rewarded Philinda with the Rune Heart Seal, and gave her advanced knowledge to help the Wilson Family grow stronger after he left. He then ordered Mage Xing Luo to bring the Icebound Snowfield under the Dark Spirit Domain within three days as he began planning to unify the Spellcaster World against the Light Church.

  • Merlin learned that Lorinka and Emma had died when their Spell Models collapsed more than ten years earlier.
  • Merlin gave Philinda the Rune Heart Seal and used an illusion to pass on knowledge of Spell Models, Alchemy, Potionology, and other subjects for her to share with the Wilson Family.
  • Merlin left Wilson Castle quietly and went to Mage Xing Luo in Icebound City.
  • Merlin ordered Mage Xing Luo to conquer Blood Lion Tower and Ice and Snow Fortress within three days, with the Three-Headed Demon Dragon's help.
  • Mage Xing Luo agreed to bring the Icebound Snowfield under the Dark Spirit Domain, while Merlin planned to unify Osum, the Northern Spellcaster World, and the Royal Family of the Black Moon Kingdom.

Ch. 713Integration (Part 2)

Mage Xing Luo led Dark Spirit Domain and the Three-Headed Demon Dragon to attack Blood Lion Tower, where Blood Lion Mage and Snow Night Mage had gathered two other Ninth-level Spellcasters. The Three-Headed Demon Dragon killed all four, leaving Blood Lion Tower too terrified to resist and Mage Xing Luo poised to unite the Icebound Snowfield.

  • Blood Lion Tower Spellcasters spotted Mage Xing Luo's force approaching and warned Blood Lion Mage.
  • Blood Lion Mage and Snow Night Mage prepared Blood Lion Tower's defenses and agreed with two elderly Mages to divide Dark Spirit Domain's treasures.
  • Mage Xing Luo discovered that Blood Lion Tower had four Ninth-level Spellcasters, far more than he had expected, as the two sides faced one another.
  • The Three-Headed Demon Dragon shattered the Blood Lion's attack, then killed Blood Lion Mage, Snow Night Mage, and the two elderly Mages.
  • The Three-Headed Demon Dragon crushed the Blood Lion and cowed Blood Lion Tower's Spellcasters, while Mage Xing Luo prepared to integrate the tower and the Icebound Snowfield.

Ch. 714The South (Part One)

Three Black Moon Kingdom envoys failed to secure Osum's help against the Light Church, and the Eighth Prince decided to seek aid from the Royal Family's Elders' Council. After unifying the Icebound Snowfield, Merlin set out for the Southern Spellcaster World to find Osum Headquarters himself.

  • Osum outpost Mage Habel told the Black Moon Kingdom's three envoys that headquarters had sent no reply, then privately dismissed the Royal Family as an obstacle to Osum.
  • The three envoys reported Osum's refusal to the Eighth Prince, who rejected seeking help from the Northern Spellcaster World and went to ask the Elders' Council for aid.
  • Mage Xing Luo reported that the Dark Spirit Domain had unified the Icebound Snowfield and that its remaining Spellcasters would join Merlin's Spellcaster Alliance.
  • Merlin learned that no one knew Osum Headquarters' location and decided to travel to the Southern Spellcaster World to investigate its outposts.
  • Merlin mounted the three-headed demon dragon and flew south.

Ch. 715Eliminating the Strongholds (Part One)

Merlin destroyed several Osum strongholds with the Three-Headed Demon Dragon and learned that the remaining Spellcasters had gathered at the Abbes Stronghold. As Merlin reached the stronghold, Mage Dorsent prepared to confront him, confident in the Abbes War God.

  • Merlin sent the Three-Headed Demon Dragon to destroy a small Osum stronghold and killed the Spellcasters stationed there.
  • Merlin found another stronghold empty and captured two Osum scouts, who revealed that its Spellcasters had withdrawn to the Abbes Mountains.
  • Merlin realized Osum had used the scouts as bait, then flew toward the Abbes Stronghold to confront the assembled forces.
  • Mage Dorsent told eleven Ninth-level Spellcasters that the attacker controlled the legendary Three-Headed Demon Dragon and reassured them that the Abbes War God could defend the stronghold.
  • The Abbes Stronghold shook as the Three-Headed Demon Dragon attacked, and Mage Dorsent led the Spellcasters to face Merlin.

Ch. 716Destroying the Stronghold (Part Two)

Merlin attacked the Abbes Stronghold with the Three-Headed Demon Dragon, but the stronghold’s defenders deployed the powerful Abbes War God and defeated the dragon. Merlin then destroyed the golem with a single spell, leaving Dorsent and the other spellcasters stunned by his strength.

  • The Three-Headed Demon Dragon failed to break the Abbes Stronghold’s rune formation, so Merlin urged it to attack again and draw out the defenders.
  • Dorsent summoned the Abbes War God, an Alchemical Golem, and activated it with runes.
  • The Abbes War God defeated the Three-Headed Demon Dragon and advanced on Merlin at Dorsent’s command.
  • Merlin crushed the Abbes War God with a gigantic flaming palm, shocking the eleven high-level spellcasters.
  • Dorsent realized Merlin was far more terrifying than the Three-Headed Demon Dragon.

Ch. 717An Old Acquaintance (Part One)

Merlin destroyed the Abbes Stronghold and killed its defenders, hoping to draw Osum’s hidden headquarters into responding. When Osum’s First Elder learned who had razed the stronghold, he discovered that the attacker was his old acquaintance Merlin.

  • Merlin questioned the eleven Ninth-level Spellcasters but learned that only Osum’s Archmages knew where its headquarters was, then killed them.
  • Merlin and the Three-Headed Demon Dragon destroyed the Abbes Stronghold, and Merlin headed southwest to attack more Osum strongholds.
  • Spellcasters arriving at the ruins reported the destruction to Osum’s headquarters.
  • The red-robed mage told Osum’s First Elder that Merlin had destroyed the stronghold, and the First Elder reacted with a surge of power.

Ch. 718Acquaintance (Part 2)

The First Elder sent five Great Mages, including Tamo, to hunt Merlin while preparing for a decisive battle against the Northern Spellcaster World. As Merlin traveled toward Osum’s southwestern stronghold, he sensed powerful dark-elemental fluctuations in the forest and recognized the familiar feeling of the Dark Heart.

  • The First Elder rejected the suggestion to send only one or two Great Mages and ordered Tamo, Galdo, Zavier, Gils, and Lina to deal with Merlin.
  • More than ten Osum Spellcasters pursued four Abyssal Fortress survivors, believing Yuras carried the Dark Eye cultivation method.
  • Two survivors sacrificed themselves to help Yuras and Henley escape, and Henley later gave his life to protect Yuras as well.
  • Yuras remembered that Hobbes had told her the Dark Eye method was fake, then stopped fleeing and gathered dark elements around herself.
  • Merlin prepared to fly with the Three-Headed Demon Dragon toward Osum’s southwestern stronghold, then sensed dark fluctuations from the forest and wondered if they came from the Dark Heart.
