Lin Xiaolu became a Magical Girl because she loved Magical Girl anime and longed to become someone “cute and powerful” who could escape her suffocating everyday life. The reality of fighting Aberrant Beasts initially leaves her frightened and disappointed, as becoming White Rose does not erase her self-loathing or personal problems. 9
