"Cain, Ghislaine is going to stay with us for a while. Every room at the inn is booked tonight."
Eris hugged Ghislaine as though it had been ages since she'd last gotten her hands on an adorable beastwoman with fluffy ears. She rubbed her head against Ghislaine, beaming.
Well, it looked like Cain wouldn't have his adorable Eris to hold tonight.
Cain smiled and nodded his agreement, then opened the envelope in his hand. Orsted's signature was the first thing he saw.
"Huh, that guy actually writes letters?! But why didn't Orsted use the stone tablet?"
"He said a letter would make Cain feel valued. Using the stone tablet might seem dismissive."
"That's what Orsted said~"
Eris planted her hands on her hips and gave a proud little hum.
"Cain really is the best! Even the Dragon God thinks you're that important!"
"Ah, only my adorable Eris praises me this much."
Delighted, Cain ruffled Eris's red hair. Then, realizing he'd gotten the order wrong, he hurriedly ruffled Roxy's blue hair too.
He had to give them equal affection, after all. It was better for the family.
Moonlight streamed through the windows of Cain's villa and into the lavishly furnished bedroom.
Sitting up in bed, Cain smiled at Roxy, who was holding his hand, and gently kissed her smooth, pale forehead.
"Cain~"
As he drew back, Roxy seemed to wake at his touch. She rubbed her forehead and looked at him with shy anticipation, a deeply moved, contented smile on her lips.
He had a chance to be alone with Roxy because Eris was sleeping with Ghislaine. Normally, Roxy, Eris, and Cain would have shared the bed.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Cain held the letter up to the moonlight coming through the window.
