Chen De glanced at his phone.
It was ten thirty in the morning, half an hour since Lin Xi had made her bold declaration.
The seventh dessert had just arrived, and after all that time, she had only finished two.
The remaining five desserts stood in neat rows, as if waiting for her to admit defeat.
Lin Xi gripped her spoon and stared at the enormous parfait in front of her, unable to bring herself to start.
"Lin Xi."
"I'm thinking."
"About what?"
"Where to start."
"You've been thinking for three minutes."
"Strategic thinking takes time."
Xia Luo rested her chin on her hand and smiled at her.
"Want me to call a stretcher for you?"
"No."
Lin Xi sat up straighter, her expression dead serious.
"I'm just taking a halftime break."
"You've eaten two out of seven desserts. How is it halftime?"
"The opening phase can count as part of halftime."
Chen De silently took a bite of Tiramisu and decided not to correct her math.
Qin Luoyu typed a few lines, then pushed her phone to the middle of the table.
Lingling: At this rate Lingling: She'll probably still be eating this afternoon
Lin Xi's eyes widened.
"Why are you calculating that?"
Lingling: To help you plan
"I don't need that kind of planning!"
Lingling: Then I'll help the staff plan Lingling: They can start getting ready to close
"It's only ten thirty!"
Fei Xiao was still eating her cake at a leisurely pace.
Half an hour later, she had finally eaten half of it. Lin Xi watched her for a moment, then seemed to have an idea.
"Fei Xiao, you're eating so slowly. That means you're really enjoying your dessert, right?"
"It's all right."
"Then would you like to enjoy a
