The contract transformed him into a magical girl and armed him against a Lesser Calamity in an alley; he defeated it immediately, earning his first 50,000 yuan. His initial reaction to the danger was that, if wearing a skirt was the price, he would become the toughest one around. 1 2

His home was his parents’ small, dated apartment, and his initial finances were limited enough that food, a functional phone, and comfortable bedding took priority over abstract heroic ambitions. The contract’s physical side effects gradually altered his civilian body as well as his transformed form. His skin became paler and smoother, his body hair and facial features changed, his hair grew long, and his height steadily decreased. Rather than erase Chen De from everyone’s memory, he chose to have “Chen De” leave abroad and continue life under the legally established identity of Su Xi. The decision allowed Jiang Ping to remember Chen De while preventing the two identities from being openly connected. 40

The identity arrangement cost 100,000 yuan and included documents, a school uniform, accessories, immigration records, and an overseas school acceptance letter supporting Chen De’s departure. His plans for rapid earnings are constrained when Qubi explains that excessive clearing raises the probability of stronger Calamities appearing. With Dire Calamities still posing a potentially fatal threat, Chen De elects to increase his transformations and train toward an aggressive two-month readiness target. 20

Identity Crisis and the Su Xi Persona

As the contract increasingly feminizes his civilian body, Chen De attempts to maintain school life through excuses, maintenance patches, and evasive humor. When his changes become impossible to conceal, he adopts the legal identity of Su Xi while allowing “Chen De” to appear to have gone abroad. 21 27 31 40
