Background / History
Lin Qing'er was born into an impoverished family that could no longer support her. Her family sold her as a wife to Feng Chen for two taels of silver, giving her a chance to survive. When she first came to his household, she wore patched coarse clothing and showed visible malnutrition, with sallow skin, dry yellowed hair, and a pointed chin. 2
Before Feng Chen's rise, Qing'er managed nearly every part of their struggling household. She cooked, cleaned, washed clothes, tended their two mu of poor farmland, gathered wild vegetables, and cared for Feng Chen while he was unconscious. 2 3 22 25 Even when food was scarce, she gave Feng Chen the larger share of their cornbread and apologized for being unable to find more vegetables. 3
As Feng Chen acquired wealth and cultivation resources, Qing'er gradually moved from household labor into martial training. He taught her Tiger Fist, supplied her with Qi-Blood Soup, Demonic Beast meat, medicinal baths, high-grade herbs, and later refined pills. 22 23 59 135 211 She eventually became a Body Tempering martial artist and began instructing Zhao Yuan'er and Li Hehua in basic fist practice. 137 151
After Feng Chen became leader of the Black Tiger Gang, Qing'er adapted to her new position while retaining her concern for their shared home. She became more capable of handling danger, secrecy, and the responsibilities surrounding Feng Chen's growing influence. 170 217

Personality

She is also diligent in cultivation despite progressing by ordinary effort rather than Feng Chen's exceptional talent. She studies manuals closely, accepts correction seriously, and continues practicing even when exhausted. 23 41 51 135 Her frugality remains intact after their circumstances improve; she worries over the expensive Clear Water Divine Art despite its benefits. 174
Although initially fearful of violence and danger, Qing'er becomes increasingly resilient and practical. She helps Feng Chen dispose of bodies after attacks, waits awake when he goes out at night, keeps a weapon close while he is absent, and shows a fiercer side when their peaceful life is threatened. 26 61 222 217
Her kindness develops sharper boundaries after becoming the Black Tiger Gang leader's wife. She supports Feng Chen's efforts to obtain Shen Yao's pill formulas through deception rather than open robbery, explaining that she wants to help bear his burdens. 168 170
