Two Gods Begin Their Contest

He had told Tang Wuling to wait for him in the cafeteria, but just as he reached the foot of the teaching building, a familiar figure hurried toward him.

Tang Wuling had come looking for him first.

"Xiao An! We finished today's exam. We have to celebrate! My treat—I'll take you somewhere good to eat!"

Chen An put on a smile. "Sure. Your call."

They headed for the school gates together.

It should have been another perfect date.

Until Chen An caught sight of someone by the gates.

Gu Yue leaned against a stone pillar beside the academy entrance, cool and composed. She looked casual, but her gaze was fixed firmly on him and Tang Wuling. She had clearly been waiting for some time.

"Gu Yue, you're here too! Come with us!"

Tang Wuling waved her over warmly, without the slightest reservation.

Gu Yue gave a small nod and walked up to them. She did not refuse.

Chen An sighed inwardly.

He had deliberately done things to make her uncomfortable, hoping Gu Yue, that walking surveillance camera, would leave him alone.

Yet here she was again.

Gu Yue shot Chen An a look that said, Trying to play mind games with me? You've got a lot to learn.

Tang Wuling glanced around, then asked in confusion.

"Wait, where's Xie Xie? He's the only one missing from our team."

Gu Yue lowered her eyes. Her gaze flicked down and to the left as she answered casually, "Haven't seen him."

The tiny movement was unmistakable to Chen An—she was lying.

Before Tang Wuling could give it more thought, Gu Yue added evenly.

"There's no rush. We can get together after tomorrow's exam."

Tang Wuling thought nothing of it and nodded at once. "That works. Let's go."

The last rays of sunset fell
