Background / History

Chen An was a modern man who transmigrated into the Legend of the Dragon King era through a personal Roulette system. Its initial draws established him as a hundred-thousand-year soul beast incarnation with a Carp special-dragon bloodline, the Verdant Crimson Fish Scales Martial Soul, Rank 10 soul power, and a starting point in the Star Dou Great Forest. 1

Upon awakening, he inherited a century millennia of memories belonging to his assigned identity. His original body had been a fish with draconic blood, notably immune to bloodline suppression; Di Tian had therefore accepted him as a subordinate. 2 Di Tian equipped him with a silver necklace containing a dragon scale and ordered him to recover Na’er, Gu Yuena’s missing incarnation, from the human world. 2

While searching for Na’er, Chen An’s martial soul consumed the necklace. The pendant became an amber Dragon Scale pattern on his chest, granting him control over his soul beast aura and beginning his path of bloodline resonance and evolution. 3 He located Na’er in Shrek City, acted as her protective “big brother” while they traveled together, and killed one of two Evil Soul Masters who ambushed them in an amusement park. 5 7

After returning to Star Dou, Chen An reported on human society. Gu Yue reassigned him to a more valuable mission: infiltrate the human world and approach the Golden Dragon King’s incarnation, Tang Wulin. Chen An concealed his personal ambition to use that connection for his own bloodline evolution. 10 He then entered Aolai City disguised as an amnesiac child and was adopted by Tang Ziran and Lang Yue, becoming Tang Wulin’s younger brother. 11 12

Chen An trained in cultivation and forging while concealing his true strength. He and Tang Wulin later moved to Eastsea City, enrolled at Eastsea Academy, gained recognition as young blacksmiths, and ultimately entered Class Zero under Wu Changkong. 18 25 45

Chen An initially appears as a short, thin child who has only recently taken human form, with crude clothing and a frail, pale build that causes others to underestimate him. 1 13 Continued cultivation and dragon-energy nourishment make his features increasingly refined as he grows. 47 54

Chen An is pragmatic, calculating, and intensely focused on survival and growth. Although he outwardly performs loyalty toward Di Tian and Gu Yue, he privately prioritizes his own safety, future strength, and ability to remain independent. 2 10 He treats the Roulette’s opportunities strategically, preferring to save draws rather than gamble when the odds are poor. 14

He is highly skilled at deception. He suppresses his soul power, feigns frailty during forging, assumes the role of a lost child to enter Aolai City, and tailors his behavior to other people’s expectations. 11 13 14 His combat style reflects the same disposition: he remains calm under pressure, avoids needless risks, and is willing to kill when he judges an enemy to be an ongoing threat. 7

Despite his self-interest, Chen An develops genuine attachments. He protects Na’er, repeatedly supports Tang Wulin, and is affected by Tang Ziran’s simple wish that his children live happily rather than become powerful. 6 18 39 He is also capable of patience and social manipulation, notably defusing Mu Xi’s resentment through carefully chosen praise. 25
