Background / History

Huo Wushuang is Huo Wu’s older brother and a member of the Fire Clan, the family associated with Blazing Fire Academy. Alongside Huo Wu, he became one of the academy’s feared young “tyrants”: their superior innate talent and early advancement to Soul Master rank left most peers unable to oppose them. He was assigned a single dormitory after other students became too intimidated to room with him. 8

His One-Horned Flame Tyrannosaur is a high-quality subdragon Martial Soul with concentrated dragon bloodline. The Fire Clan regards it as comparable in quality to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Martial Soul, though the clan initially lacked the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect’s dragonification methods. 24

Before Lin Huo’s arrival, Huo Wushuang repeatedly disrupted Teacher Ding Ge’s lessons by raising difficult questions until he lost interest and withdrew from the course. 28 29

The Fire Clan placed considerable expectations on Huo Wushuang because his Martial Soul possesses one of the densest dragon bloodlines produced by the clan in nearly a century. His eventual awakening of Dragon Transformation confirmed that his Martial Soul has potential beyond the clan’s prior expectations. 68

Appearance

Huo Wushuang has conspicuous bright-red short hair. His face visibly flushes when embarrassed or angered. 8 30

Personality

Huo Wushuang is impulsive, hot-tempered, and accustomed to settling disputes with his fists. His thought process is often wildly speculative; upon seeing Lin Huo living with Huo Wu, he repeatedly concludes that Lin Huo must be Huo Tian’s illegitimate son despite direct denials. 14 15

He is intensely protective of Huo Wu and distrustful of Lin Huo’s proximity to her. However, much of this behavior stems from Huo Lin’s order that he prevent Huo Wu from becoming distracted by romance during her crucial cultivation years; Huo Wushuang fears the punishment he would receive should he fail. 18 19 34

Despite his arrogance, Huo Wushuang has a straightforward sense of combat etiquette. He hesitates to fight after learning Lin Huo is only Level 6, formally introduces himself before their duel, and warns Lin Huo about Scorching Dragon Orb before using it. 31 32

His strongest defining trait is his love of battle. Once he confirms Lin Huo’s unusual strength, his jealousy and dormitory-related hostility are eclipsed by excitement at finding a worthy opponent. 30 31

Repeated defeat tempers rather than eliminates his competitive spirit. Although Lin Huo’s overwhelming strength humiliates him, Huo Wushuang eventually accepts him as the strongest member of the Fire Clan’s younger generation and becomes a proud supporter and guide. 54 60

Academy Tyrant

Huo Wushuang is established as one of Fire Sprout Junior Soul Master Academy’s two notorious young leaders alongside Huo Wu. His Level 8 innate Soul Power and early Soul Master cultivation make him difficult for fellow students to challenge. 8

Conflict over Lin Huo and Huo Wu

After discovering Lin Huo in Huo Wu’s dormitory, Huo Wushuang angrily attempts to confront him. Lin Huo defuses the incident by exploiting Huo Wushuang’s insecurity over Huo Wu’s opinion of him, leading Huo Wushuang to invent an elaborate story about Lin Huo’s supposed parentage. Huo Tian intervenes and takes him away for punishment. 14 15

Huo Wushuang later tries to persuade Huo Wu to stop living with Lin Huo, but retreats when she threatens to discuss the matter with Huo Tian. 18

Pursuit of a Worthy Opponent

Huo Wushuang pressures Huo Yun’s group to make Lin Huo move out of Huo Wu’s dormitory, indirectly causing their defeat at Lin Huo’s hands. After Lin Huo moves into a single room, Huo Wushuang visits again—not primarily over Huo Wu, but because he wants to test Lin Huo’s strength himself. 22 25 30

Duel with Lin Huo

Huo Wushuang formally challenges Lin Huo as a Level 19 assault-type Battle Soul Master. In close combat, Lin Huo’s abnormal physical power sends him flying with a single punch. 31

He changes tactics and unleashes Scorching Dragon Orb, but Lin Huo withstands its heat unharmed while only his clothing burns. Huo Wushuang exhausts his Soul Power trying to force a reaction, learning that fire-based attacks are useless against his new rival. 32

Recruitment Attempt and Humiliation

After the duel accidentally starts a fire, Huo Wushuang extinguishes it using the Fire Clan’s advanced Fire Control technique. He explains that outsiders can learn the technique only by entering Blazing Fire Advanced Academy or joining the Fire Clan, then attempts to recruit Lin Huo because of his extraordinary physique and bloodline potential. 33

Lin Huo refuses to join immediately and threatens to pursue Huo Wu instead, exposing that Huo Wushuang’s interference is driven largely by fear of Huo Lin’s punishment should Huo Wu become romantically distracted. Huo Wushuang pays Lin Huo Gold Soul Coins for winning their duel, only for Huo Wu to overhear his insults and punish him afterward. 34

Repeated Challenges

Huo Wushuang and Huo Wu continue challenging Lin Huo in sparring matches, including joint battles against him. Lin Huo defeats them repeatedly through his extreme fire resistance and overwhelming physical strength without needing Soul Skills. 54

Whale Rubber strengthening later allows Huo Wushuang to reach the Level 20 bottleneck. Even after his improved physique leads him to challenge Lin Huo once more, he is decisively defeated and becomes Lin Huo’s supporter and guide within the Fire Clan. 60

Skyfire Mountain Range Expedition

Huo Wushuang accompanies Lin Huo, Huo Wu, and the Fire Clan elders to the Skyfire Mountain Range. He learns that the group has found a young Azure Sky Flame Dragon suitable for his second Soul Ring and assists Huo Wu in fighting the creature before beginning his absorption. 62 63 64

The approximately 2,600-year ring advances him to the Soul Grandmaster realm. Its power grants him Dragon Flame Incarnation, while its draconic compatibility triggers Dragon Transformation in his right leg, fulfilling the Fire Clan’s hopes that his Martial Soul possesses a true dragonification trait. 64 67 68
