Background / History

Lin Huo is a transmigrator from Earth who spent six years living as an orphan in New Town, a remote settlement near Blazing Fire City. The town chief's relief supplies and support allowed him to survive after the deaths of his farmer parents. 1 16

At his Martial Soul awakening, Lin Huo saw a vision of Professor Oak and three Poké Balls containing Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Rather than choosing only one, he took Charmander with one hand and Bulbasaur with the other, concealing the latter before the awakening supervisor could notice. Charmander was publicly registered as his Martial Soul, with Innate Soul Power Level Five. 1 2

After confirming that he possessed a Pokémon-style system, Lin Huo discovered that both Martial Souls carried moves beyond their standard starting abilities. The system also displayed a third, unidentified Martial Soul slot as “?”, but did not respond to any of his attempts to question it. 2 11

Huo Tian, Blazing Fire Academy's admissions director, recruited Lin Huo because of his fire-attributed Martial Soul. Their meeting was interrupted by the Spirit Hall bishop Lals, whose conflict with Huo Tian left Lin Huo exposed to potential retaliation; Huo Tian compensated him with more than two hundred Gold Soul Coins after their auras destroyed his house. Lin Huo was initially assigned to share a dormitory with Huo Wu, Huo Tian's niece. Although Huo Wu took him on as a little brother and self-appointed “chief strategist,” Lin Huo later arranged to move into a single room in Building Three after defeating Huo Yun's group. 10 16 25 30

Personality

Lin Huo is calculating, observant, and highly protective of his secrets. He carefully tested his abilities only after confirming he was alone, concealed Bulbasaur from others, and avoids exposing unusual skills unless necessary. 1 2 11 12

Despite his age, he is pragmatic and self-reliant. He accepts benefits when they are useful, but remains wary of Huo Tian's motives and the danger posed by powerful factions. Lin Huo is considerate toward ordinary people and academy staff, declining excessive service and repaying the town chief once he has the means.
